Epilogue
I will never not be feral over the fact that the book literally ends with Harry STILL STARING AT DRACO MALFOY!!!
them: ☔️👨❤️👨
us: ☂️🌧🙃
The cherry red tip glows.
“Those things will kill you, you know.”
“Good thing I’ve already died.”
A resounding smirk, a susurration of breath.
Draco leans in.
Harry lights up.

This is gorgeous ☺️💕

Some Harry Potter stuff
Propaganda I am NOT falling for:
Tall Harry Potter
Short Draco Malfoy
FYI Draco not wanting to kill Dumbledore isn’t cowardice, it’s him having a genuine moral conscience and an instinctive aversion to taking a life, which is way more than can be said about a good many characters in Harry Potter, including his own parents and aunt, none of whom have any moral issues with doing a fascist psycho’s dirty work (nor does Snape, honestly; remember Snape only left the Death Eaters because of Lily, not because of any realization that it’s wrong to commit genocide). Plus Draco’s wand, the wand that CHOSE him, is unicorn core, which is canonically the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts; that kind of wand would never choose someone who is inherently evil. I’m baffled by people who say Draco’s hesitance in killing Dumbledore is somehow another addition to his admittedly long list of flaws; I guess I didn’t realize that discovering you don’t want to commit murder is a bad thing that should be condemned. Haters say that fans invented Draco’s potential for redemption and he actually has no good in him whatsoever, but those haters clearly have not truly read the text.

I feel like when Harry and Draco finally publicly announce their relationship the whole wizarding world is shocked but everyone who was in their year at Hogwarts is like ‘yep that tracks’ and puts down their copy of the Daily Prophet with the most long suffering expression imaginable.
mwah
fuck dramione, romione and drarry for life 🫡
Do you have a favorite drarry moment in the series?
I always screenshot funny Drarry content to bug my co-writer @niche-pastiche, (since they were historically not a drarry girlie.) I'll share some. :D
First we have Harry being really, really focused on how Draco looks at any given time:
oh you like the robes he's wearing, Harry? he's looking good?
(Harry likes these robes better then the high-necked black velvet ones Draco wears to the yule ball btw. thinks those ones make him look "like a vicar.")
harry, you might maybe want to consider that MAYBE you're projecting a little, with that interior monolog you're giving pansy? You have also, historically, been pretty focused on Draco's hair.
I think it's actually kinda sweet that Harry has noticed that Draco isn't looking as good as usual these days.
And of course, there's Harry's favorite Plan A: Spy on Malfoy Under the Invisibility Cloak.
I love how Mr. Weasley is just like, "Harry, why?" and harry is like ??????? malfoy was up to something????????
I mean... "he was rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy" is a classic for a reason.
I also enjoy when Harry is just unable to shut up about Draco, to the degree that it's really starting to annoy people:
After a few DAYS? Harry that conversation was two minutes long. Ron and Hermione are being very patient with him.
But of course Draco does EXACTLY the same thing :
And Draco in general will try to like... show off?
that one just reads as incompetent flirting to me, I'm sorry.
draco that's not even an insult, what are you TALKING about.
and one last little bit where where Harry REALLY doesn't want to run into Draco when he's not looking good:
What can I say, It's all very relatable baby gay emotions.
Why did Harry use only Expelliarmus on Voldemort but Sectumsempra on Draco? Also, if Expelliarmus was Harry's go to spell why use Sectumsempra when he could use it against Draco's Crucio?
Harry fights Draco really differently than he fights everyone else.
So okay. Normally when he fights, Harry's go-to spells are:
Impedimenta (slow down)
Petrificus Totalus (paralyze)
Stupefy (knock out)
Expelliarmus (disarm)
Which means his strategy is get away from/incapacitate his opponent as quickly as possible and that's IT. Harry is not a flashy or creative fighter the way Dumbledore, Voldemort, and heck even side characters like Percy are. Which makes perfect sense. Fighting has never been a game for Harry. It's never been abstract. He'll do all these badass things but when he talks about fighting (like we see during the DA segments) he's not thinking about it like it's something interesting or cool. He's picturing going up against a more powerful opponent, probably while injured and scared. And what's the best thing to have in that situation? Four useful, all-purpose spells that you've practiced enough times that you don't have to think about them anymore.
Zachariah Smith gives Harry a hard time for relying on a spell as "basic" as expelliarmus, which tells us that in-universe, Harry's stripped-down dueling style might be considered kind of plain or boring. But Harry's a very effective duelist, probably because he is so practical. He doesn't care about showing off, looking powerful, or intimidating his opponents.
... except when he's fighting specifically Draco.
When he's fighting DRACO MALFOY, Harry brings out the fun spells:
Rictusempra (tickling)
Furnunculus (boils)
Leg-Locker jinx
Levicorpus (levitate by ankle)
Toenail-growing hex
And also Sectumsempra, which he THINKS is going to be another embarrassing/fun spell, because levicorpus and the toenail-growing hex also came out of the Half-Blood Prince's textbook, and Harry thinks this third spell is going to be another one like that.
So my conclusion is that Harry just kind of... uniquely enjoys fighting with Draco. He's not trying to end the encounter as fast as possible, there probably is some element where he wants to show off, hit Draco with something new or something clever. Harry and Draco have a dynamic where it's *fun* to one-up/get the upper hand over each other, and duels are perfect for that.
To me this is a very natural extension of Harry's "lets plot hypothetical ways to get Malfoy expelled" (which he does with Ron, for fun) and "lets try to figure out what Suspicious Thing Malfoy is up to now" (one of Harry's very favorite pastimes.) So long story short - when Harry fights Draco, he fights like a teenager. When he fights anyone else, he fights like an auror.
I keep thinking about the fact that hinny is kind of the opposite of drarry in the sense that Harry really shouldn't know that much about Draco but he does, while he should know a lot about Ginny but he doesn't.
Harry and Draco aren't friends and aren't even in the same House but Harry is so attuned to him that he remembers items Draco looked at in a shop more than 4 years previously, knows every detail of his appearance down to the exact shade of his eyes and skin, and can recognize him instantly just by the sound of his footsteps or a glimpse of him from far away. He also knows a lot about Draco's interests and beliefs and can usually tell his exact mood just by a look at his face.
Conversely, Harry and Ginny are in the same House and Harry has also spent every summer since second year living with her, plus holidays during 5th and 6th year. They also start dating in the end of sixth year. Despite this fact Harry has never even been in her room till 7th year and when he goes in, he shows no sign of recognition at the posters he sees there. You'd think, for example, that he would already know that she likes the Harpies and the Weird Sisters and thus think about how of course she has that in her room, or something. Who are her friends? Who knows? Certainly not Harry! What kind of wand does she have? Harry doesn't know. (Even though he does know both of these things about Draco). What does she want to do after graduating? How did she handle the trauma of what happened with Riddle in book 2? Does she have any insights from that that could be helpful? No idea. Harry's doesn't care and isn't interested in finding out.
Honestly, when he thinks of her it's mostly about her physical features. And even then, her eye color only gets mentioned once - in book 7, and we still don't get the specific shade. I'll buy that he feels lust for her. But love? Honestly I find myself once again thinking about the parallels between hinny and ron/lavender.
Consider:
Versus:
Kinda sounds like both the relationships being described are light on the talking side of things...
Also guess what the first thing Harry does after kissing Ginny, the alleged love of his life is? If you guessed "looks lovingly into her eyes" or "says something to her" you'd be wrong. Here's what goes down:
That's right guys, gals and nonbinary pals. He looks right over the top of Ginny's head (and isn't that a metaphor for their relationship right there - he's literally overlooking her to think about other stuff) to check in with Ron. His actual priority - the person whose opinion and regard he actually cares about.
In book 6 after he realizes he is attracted to her, he feels annoyed that he has to play Quidditch (which is his main way to spend time with her) because it takes him away from following Draco. In book 7 after the battle he vaguely thinks that he'll talk to Ginny "later" but immediately goes to Ron and Hermione and then sits with them and Luna. He also sees Ginny from far away at one point and doesn't even recognize her (despite never having this problem with Draco). He also doesn't trust her to fight at his side the way he does Ron or Hermione (despite also loving them and wanting them to stay safe) or even Luna. In book 5 he forgets about what happened to her in book 2. In book 6 he never thinks of going to her to learn potentially vital details about Riddle. In books 6 and 7 he never sees her as someone to confide in or someone whose advice he needs. He never hears her voice in his head the way he does Hermione's. I could go on.
He likes Ginny. He finds her attractive. He likes her He cares about her to some extent. But she's never the priority. She doesn't truly hold his attention or his regard. He doesn't love her.
I think they would be so much happier with other people.
