SOMEONE GAVE LOUIS A WHOLE ASS PETITION TO SING HOME ON TOUR SIGNED BY 637 LOUIES AND HE JUST
Louis told fans his least favorite song on the album is Perfect Now - 31.01
I really want to get all my initial thoughts on the album down, so here they are:
Too Young is absolutely gorgeous, its so soft and kinda bittersweet, like it makes me smile but its also a bit sad. It was slightly jarring hearing the actual track after listening to that low quality recording from when louis did it live, but still awesome.
I love the sound of Habit, it's a bit different from the rest of the album which is nice. Im not super sold on the lyrics they're a bit meh for me, but i love the actual sound so it makes up for it.
Always You is PERFECTION. Its so much more upbeat and bouncy than the rest of the album, which is fun. It definitely doesnt sound like it belongs on this album, which is not surprising considering it was written at a time when his sound was completely different, but i still adore it and im glad its on the album anyway. I wish it had been a single honestly, it could have been like a fun bouncy summer single! Also is that FALSETTO i hear??? (I really dont know anything about singing) Either way i was NOT prepared for him to sing that high on the album and i am SHOOK.
Fearless is a little bit of a let down for me just cause i had really high expectations lyrics-wise. The song itself is really good, i love how when he sings fearless, the note drops down at the end. It makes it a bit more interesting to me cause it sounds a bit less generic i guess. Lyrically, the song really didnt resonate with me at all, although i feel like the lyrics did come from a place of truth for him. Maybe im just too young to feel those lyrics, but it didnt really work for me.
Perfect Now, im sorry to say, is not very good. Definitely the only song on the album that i genuinely think is bad (sorry louis). The sound itself is fairly boring, and the lyrics are just ... not good. I HATE the whole "youre super insecure, but dont worry i think youre great, so its fine" thing. And the lyric "if you knew what you were to me you would never try to hide away" just makes me mad honestly. And maybe its just my own biases creeping in, but the song just isnt convincing at all. It doesnt sound like any of it is coming from a place of feeling or emotion, it just seems really empty to me. Also, the song is basically just ed sheeran's perfect all over again. Like, its literally the same song. Sorry louis!!
Defenceless is a gorgeous masterpiece. The recorded track is great, but louis really brought out the emotion when he sang it live, which isnt quite there in the recording. ALSO that bridge in the recording is SO different from what he sang live!! Was not expecting that at all! I definitely prefer the live bridge just for the pure emotion and vulnerability that he brought live, but the recorded version also gave us some killer high notes that, again, i was not expecting!!
Only the Brave is just wow!! When we first got all the track run times, i was pretty disappointed by how short it was, but after listening im actually quite happy with the length. Its short but sweet, and it felt really fitting to me that its so short. Like it said everything it wanted to say and then ended. I almost feel like making it longer would have taken away from the song. Its such a lovely song, the acoustic guitar is great. Lyrically it seems like a bit of a departure from louis' self-proclaimed "conversational" lyrics, it feels a lot more poetic and abstract lyrically, but its absolutely beautiful. Louis' voice sounds like an angel and we got some more high notes (maybe falsetto??) which i love. The song is such a great closer for the album too.
