it’s sad boi hours so imagine spencer crushing on derek when he first joins the bau, this strong, passionate man who defines bravery, but he’s straight. he thinks he’ll outgrow the crush, but as the years go by, it blossoms and it grows into this love that encompasses him, but he knows inside that he can’t do anything about it because it’s unrequited in the most tragic sense.

and then one day, out of nowhere, he hears morgan telling garcia about a girl, a girl who lights up his world and makes him feel the way he doesn’t know he makes spencer feel all the time, like he’s painting the sunset in spencer’s image. and spencer smiles, he tells him he’s happy for him, he listens to the stories derek tells about his relationship, and it hurts, but the dull ache is just familiar enough to ignore now.

but then they break up, and derek is broken, spencer can see his heart shattered in fragments through his eyes. so all he can do now is comfort his friend. he sits with him, day and night, until one day derek looks at him, head cocked to the side as if studying him. he gulps. derek begins to lean in and spencer let’s it happen, though his mind races with derek’s newly ended relationship and the fresh tears that are falling down his friends face.

so with every ounce of willpower in himself, spencer pushes derek away who looks at him, slightly angry ‘i thought you wanted me’. spencer mutters ‘not like this’
