sooo glamour no 5 in darkstar au is basically a big scheme by dark core to shadow the disappearance of anne (i think this is where she is kidnapped and held as a prisoner in pandoria). it is a big fashion event and it is far more important and restricted than it was in ssl (a school event basically) and people around the world gather there. derek is used to manipulate anne into believing darko that going to pandoria alone is a good idea etc etc leading into her betrayal
dc and ged are incredibly talented at organizing grand events that cover for their dirty work (disappearances, theft, the list goes on) and of course the dark riders are at the center of it. both jay and katja are models (bc i just remembered katja literally appears in the poster of glamour no 5 in ssl) and they are a cunty ass couple together 💅
acerbus and morrigan, jay and nicole's soul steeds :3 (tw, below will be mentions of abuse)
acerbus is a marwari horse and morrigan is very much based on fell ponies!
back before i even started planning on darkstar au and what it might include, i was in love with galloper's horse morrigan—i have both versions of her stabled and i was ensnared by the sadness and tragedy of her and galloper's story. ever since the halloween events began showing up i started dreaming of having morrigan be somehow connected to nicole and NOW i get to be self-indulgent and have her be nicole's soul companion mwahaha
so lore time!
morrigan was born in the wrong time and age, possibly summoned into existence by the very early druids (they did not know what they were doing and what would the consequences of it be). morrigan is described as not having a 'hint of aideen' in her which is directly connected to there being an absence of aideen (and soul riders too) during her generation, and since she herself was deeply tied to darkstarian spirits and pandoria the absence of a 'completing' force was more evident in her than any other.
so morrigan was a lone soul. in my headcanon she was killed and reborn a thousand time during the years (thus scars) and became aggressive and withdrawn in spirit and body. the latest reincarnation of morrigan happened during catherine's era (i hc morrigan was also catherine's soul steed! but catherine was a headstrong and a fiery girl and didn't always understand morrigan's limits due to her past abuse, which is why their relationship wasn't the *best* exactly, even if they did fulfill one another's bond.)
instead of morrigan dying during catherine's era, catherine died in pandoria and morrigan was captured by dc. dosing her with serums and her time in pandoria gave her an unusually long life (so when nicole finds her, she will be old for a horse)
i think there will be a part of darkstar au where both nicole and morrigan together are forced to face the trauma of their past. they're a very bittersweet 'the sadness in me recognizes the sadness in you'- type of a soul bond. nicole cannot ride well, and morrigan, due her injuries, cannot be ridden, and i think that was an unintentional yet very intentional shift of fate. in fact, their personalities are very similar too. withdrawn, aloof, snapping back if pushed, quiet, in need of their own space. a cosmic, ageless sorrow incarnate if you don't mind
and acerbus is from jay's adoptive family (they breed marwari horses) so jay's known him since childhood. acerbus' much like his owner, flashy, courageous, yet flighty should the situation arise. and morrigan cannot STAND his fabulous ass
the drakonium in the water is turning me gay—my arrhythmia has been climbing walls lately so of course i need to put extra pressure on my heart by drinking energy drinks and drawing jay.

born to rich parents (competitive riders) forced into the equestrian world from a young age. had a very dramatic teenage angst phase that never truly left. still not in the best of terms with her parents

biker girl. i really saw her in those red pants once and was sold
dark riders in my au are chosen by chance as the soul riders are; in short, they harbour the exact same powers but 'corrupted' in the hands of thise who know what to do. most of the time they pick teenagers/early adults with circle skills that have struggles in life or are easy to manipulate into working for them. sabine had both; when she was younger she had no friends and felt as if she belonged nowhere when mr. sands found her
quiet, reserved, aloof, does not really like talking even to jay or katja
actually really likes khaan and finds solace in him

*sighs* jay has so much lore in my au that it ain't gonna fit here but
model/actor, born to rich parents aswell, roots in india, their family breeds marwari horses and are also in modelling/wine business with branches in multiple other fields. even richer than sabine's family. at some point anne overtook their career from which they will always be bitter about
has the hardest time of the three associating with horses, even acerbus. prefers a car to horse any time
the planet 'darkstar' where they're from does not actually exist (anymore! it was destroyed by garnok before it was imprisoned and sent to earth), but is used as a ploy to make them work for dark core. mr. sands & co have been planting false memories to their mind that make them homesick and feel 'wrong' even if there's nothing wrong with them and the closest actual relation they have is to aideen
has an on-off relationship with katja that is not very healthy lol
katja
the closest to 'truly evil' here, katja is a cold and an unforgiving character
her family moved to jorvik after a recommendation from a friend, for katja's ice powers manifested very early, and it became a problem where they were in their home country. she was a weird kid with all kinds of brutal and unkind hobbies, especially concerning little animals she would catch, and obviously had no friends either
is used to manipulate the other two often. she is a compulsive liar and an incredible storyweaver, and for some reason people really find it easy believing her
hates how lisa 'misrepresents' the star, for to her they are dear in their cold distance.
is much closer to jay than sabine. fears sabine precisely because sabine does not fall for her schemes so easily
