though euphoria kind of turned into this messy, over-the-top teen drama in recent years, it actually hit me really hard when I first watched it. especially the s1 part when little rue staring at the ceiling counting numbers, already feeling different, anxious, a little sad in a way she probably couldn’t even explain. and her mom can see it too, that quiet kind of helplessness, like she already knows this kid’s life isn’t going to be easy.

it’s crazy when you think about that, mothers bring a child into the world with so much love and hope, but the moment they become aware of themselves, everything after that… they kind of have to face it alone.
