i was surprised by the sudden surge in popularity symbrock got (and how quickly even I fell head over heels for it) and it made me wonder what’s so appealing about the extremely codependent relationship between a man and his alien symbiote? 

I think..it’s the idea of having someone who understands you so completely, loves you unconditionally (the good and bad), the lack of..judgement or rather..the complete and utter acceptance.

Why wouldn’t someone find that appealing?

Venom and Eddie just get each other. They fit together. It’s just such a beautiful mess. They’re both absolute disasters and they love each other so much. 

It almost reminds me of pacific rim and the concept of being drift compatible. There’s something so alluring about these concepts and I suppose it is in the same way soulmate au’s are? 

 there’s something alluring about it that just makes my heart (and many other people too it seems) just melt…

There are a lot of other reasons that contribute I think but from reading an embarrassing amount of symbrock fic in the last week that’s the one thing that ties almost all those fics together. Their deep connection. The closeness and unconditional love. Acceptance. Understanding.

I love that Eddie and Venom canonically watch Netflix shows like Making a Murderer, go bowling, and eat double scooped chocolate ice cream which gives them brain freeze. It’s the little things about their daily domestic life and I’m here for it all.

There was a gap, initially. A chasm, really, where there was space and not-one-ness.

That’s long gone, now.

Eddie makes a soft noise as he stretches in his room, Absently, Venom’s itches his- their- our-

Venom itches the exposed skin of his stomach and then smoothes onto his hips.
