This is probably...like, against her privacy, or whatever, so if she wouldn’t want me to know, don’t tell me. But did she seem grossed out by me or just... confused?”

“Oh.” Musichetta didn’t know what she was expecting to hear but she was pretty sure that wasn’t it. Cosette liked Eponine, well, the more she thought about it, the more the idea seemed to fit. She wiped the small frown off her face quickly as the realisation of what this meant dawned on her. “Oh.”

Moving forwards, she pulled Cosette into a tight hug for a few seconds before pulling away, holding onto her shoulders. “That must be a hard realisation to adjust to, you’re very brave for telling her right away, love. I’m proud of you.”

Cosette still couldn’t look at ‘Chetta, but she needed her comfort, so she leaned against her, resting her head against Musichetta’s neck. “What, for hurting one of our best friends? For... for feeling selfish because I want to be with more than one person? And I know you have been. And I don’t think you’re selfish. But I can’t shake the feeling that by wanting more than Marius, I’m just being a brat.”

“Oh no, that’s no matter, I’m glad you finally managed to educate her on the perfection of Harry Potter. I’m just bringing on Marius and probably Grantaire so I’m trying to work out how to distribute them evenly while still giving Eponine and the others the same amount of time.” She shrugged, smiling warmly at Cosette. It was important to her that all her employees were happy with their work and were being paid enough to live comfortably while not being overworked. Especially Eponine, she knew how hard it could be for her at times. “But speaking of Ep, is everything okay between you two? She was reluctant to say anything, but when I talked to her it felt like something had happened.”

Cosette almost had to laugh. Of course. Of course she had to talk about this. It had been hard enough telling Marius about her incredible fuckup, and now Musichetta was asking, looking all nice and understanding and kind and compassionate, and somehow that made everything worse.

“I fucked up, ‘Chetta,” she said, staring down at her Ewok. “I told Ep that I was, um. Into her? Attracted. Enamored. And she kind of freaked out and took off. I told her that I’m polyamorous and that Marius is okay with it, and I told her I know she isn’t into me too, and I tried to make it all okay. And she still couldn’t look at me.”

“That’s understandable.” Musichetta smiled warmly as Cosette sat down opposite, moving forwards and squeezing her hand. She wasn’t an introvert herself, and often found it easy to leave her home without having to think twice, but she knew were Cosette was coming from. “I’ve been as good as always, been a little stressed trying to work out shift rotations so everyone’s happy, but other then that I’m good. What about you?”

Cosette shrugged. “I’m okay. Sorry about the problems with work. That might be partly my fault, I stole Eponine away a couple of nights.” She rubbed her thumb across the top of Musichetta’s hand, trying to smile genuinely at her. She could hear Eponine in the other room, and didn’t want to go out there and bother her. “She hadn’t seen Harry Potter, so I obviously had to fix that.”

Musichetta grinned down at her phone, grabbing the beer she’d brought with her and waltzing into Cosette’s room without knocking. She smiled as she caught sight of her, closing the door and sitting down cross legged on her bed. “I thought compliments might draw you into the living room but it seems I was mistaken. You’re missing the party, love.” Opening the bottle in her hand, she took a swig, watching her with a smile on her lips. “And by the party, I mean my company obviously, although Grantaire did just arrive, so I guess now the party really has started.”
