sure we all draw/write genos as a big sweetheart but we need to address how he is AWAY from saitama….. hes an asshole…..hes the guy sending texts to other heroes telling them to kill themselves….you walk next to him and he looks you up and down with disgust in his eyes
Oh, he’s an asshole. More than that, he’s an extreme xenophobe, like some unreformed hunter-gatherer from a remote forest: there’s himself, his people, and everyone else to be regarded with varying levels of suspicion/disdain. And he has no shame in showing this to people.
ONE is making no attempt to fix this in the webcomic: if anything, he’s doing everything to convince Genos that, yes, people are, in general, treacherous. Things are a bit better in the manga, where the lengthy separations from Saitama have given Genos an opportunity to interact with people more. In select cases, he’s even thawing out a little:
