How did you do that with the synchronised gifs? It's neat.

It's been so long I forget what the exact dimensions were but you just need to crop a gif three times in different places.

It's not really needed anymore though, back in the day tumblr had a strict 2mb gif size limit so people had to do interesting things to get around it.
