a reminder for those studying maths
you are NOT stupid, or lazy or anything like that if you are struggling
maths is notorious for being super difficult
when you are in your own bubble of seeing loads of people studying maths in your lectures or classes, it is so easy to put yourself down and convince yourself you are not good enough
the truth is, you are still wonderful and brilliant at maths to get as far as you have
everyone else outside your maths classes thinks you are super smart and super crazy for choosing to do maths
please donât put yourself down, and remember that you are wonderful
maths takes passion, hard work and focus, and you can do it
Imagine this period of struggle paying off. Imagine being granted way more than you originally bargained for. Stay the course my love. Itâs coming. Youâre almost there.
âSometimes⊠to get to the other side, you must travel through grief. No detours are possible.â
â Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Oleander Girl (via quotespile)
There are three rules.
1. If you do not go after what you want, you will never have it.Â
2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no.Â
3. If you do not step forward, you will remain in the same place.Â
Never give up on what you truly love. You've got all the time in the world... use it wisely
âIdeally, we lose ourselves in what we read, only to return to ourselves, transformed and part of a more expansive world â in short, we become more critical and more capacious in our thinking and our acting.â

You probably think dodecahedra are tight. Have you considered trying hyperdodecahedra?
Great thanks to my dear friend and Professor Mark Crawford, who showed me this gem. It may take a little bit to shatter your consciousness, so please be patient. :)

âThe great object of life is sensation- to feel that we exist, even though in pain.â
â Lord Byron (b. 22 January 1788)
Lord Byron wrote his last poem on this day
On this day (22 January) in 1824, Byron wrote âOn This Day I Complete My Thirty-Sixth Year,â his last poem. He had arrived at Missolonghi three weeks earlier, taking command of his âarmy of liberationâ which would free Greece from the Turks. But he died of fever on 19 April, after railing against incompetent doctors who literally bled him to death. On This Day I Complete My Thirty-Sixth Year
âTis time the heart should be unmoved, Since others it hath ceased to move: Yet, though I cannot be beloved, Still let me love!
My days are in the yellow leaf; The flowers and fruits of love are gone; The worm, the canker, and the grief Are mine alone!
The fire that on my bosom preys Is lone as some volcanic isle; No torch is kindled at its blazeâ A funeral pile.
The hope, the fear, the jealous care, The exalted portion of the pain And power of love, I cannot share, But wear the chain.
But âtis not thusâand âtis not hereâ Such thoughts should shake my soul nor now, Where glory decks the heroâs bier, Or binds his brow.
The sword, the banner, and the field, Glory and Greece, around me see! The Spartan, borne upon his shield, Was not more free.
Awake! (not Greeceâshe is awake!) Awake, my spirit! Think through whom Thy life-blood tracks its parent lake, And then strike home!
Tread those reviving passions down, Unworthy manhood!âunto thee Indifferent should the smile or frown Of beauty be.
If thou regrettâst thy youth, why live? The land of honourable death Is here:âup to the field, and give Away thy breath!
Seek outâless often sought than foundâ A soldierâs grave, for thee the best; Then look around, and choose thy ground, And take thy rest.
it has been like at least eight years and sometimes I still think to myself, when I am tired, âbut I am le tired⊠well then take a nap! AND THEN FIRE ZE MISSILESâ even though in retrospect that is like one of the most embarrassingly unfunny videos to ever come out of the internetÂ
tbh i still start sentences with âhokay, soâ at least 3 times a dayÂ
same, aggressively so. I also still use âwtf, mate.â
#i have no idea what this is referring to#but iâm relieved to know iâm not the only one out there randomly quoting old internet videos#some shit is always hilarious to me (x)
OH MAN
LET ME LEARN YOU A THING
who doesnât think this is STILL AS HILARIOUS as it was when we all watched it over and over and over again 15 years ago?
Iâve reblogged this before and will doubtless reblog this again because MY ENTIRE GROUP OF FRIENDS WAS SO OBSESSED WITH THIS VIDEO IN 2002/2003 THAT WE COLLECTIVELY BANNED ANY MENTION OF IT EVER AGAINÂ
AND YET
WE ARE NOW GROWN-ASS ADULTS IN OUR THIRTIES
AND IT STILL GETS QUOTED FROM TIME TO TIME
I HAVE THE WHOLE THING MEMORISED
TO THIS DAY, MY MOTHER REGULARLY SAYSÂ âBUT I AM LE TIREDâ BECAUSE OF A VIDEO I SHOWED HER IN FUCKING HIGH SCHOOL
THIS IS AN ICONIC PIECE OF INTERNET HISTORY AND I WILL FIGHT ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERS
my wife and I still regularly say âhokay soâ, âbut I am le tiredâ and âand some big meteorâs like âwell fuck thatâ.â Fucking iconic.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND IâM SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS POST BECAUSE IâVE SEEN IT NOW AND I CANâT STOP FUCKING LAUGHING
Iâve quoted this video on a daily basis for the past 10+ years and will probably do so for the rest of my life.
This vidoe is there, on the wall of fame, right by âCrab Battleâ and âJohn, you are the demonsâ
âŠ.but does any one else still sing badger badger
In case some of you were interested, dude made a part 2 recently.
That video will always be gold
MARS IS LAUGHING AT US
âI am going to outlive myself. Eat, sleep, sleep, eat. Exist slowly, softly, like these trees, like a puddle of water, like the red bench in the streetcar.â

Chance of a lifetime for an epic trick
The passenger steamer SS Warrimoo was quietly knifing its way through the waters of the mid-Pacific on its way from Vancouver to Australia. The navigator had just finished working out a star fix and brought Captain John DS. Phillips, the result. The Warrimooâs position was LAT 0Âș 31â N and LONG 179 30â W. The date was 31 December 1899.
âKnow what this means?â First Mate Payton broke in, âWeâre only a few miles from the intersection of the Equator and the International Date Lineâ. Captain Phillips was prankish enough to take full advantage of the opportunity for achieving the navigational freak of a lifetime.
He called his navigators to the bridge to check & double check the shipâs position. He changed course slightly so as to bear directly on his mark. Then he adjusted the engine speed.
The calm weather & clear night worked in his favor. At mid-night the SS Warrimoo lay on the Equator at exactly the point where it crossed the International Date Line! The consequences of this bizarre position were many:
The forward part (bow) of the ship was in the Southern Hemisphere & in the middle of summer.
The rear (stern) was in the Northern Hemisphere & in the middle of winter.
The date in the aft part of the ship was 31 December 1899.
In the bow (forward) part it was 1 January 1900.
â
This ship was therefore not only in:
Two different days,
Two different months,
Two different years,
Two different seasons
But in two different centuries - all at the same time!
