Can we truly understand a moment when it happens?Â
How will you choose to create your future and live forward, reflecting the understandings of your glances backwards?

Sleep is the single most important thing you can do for your health and it is free! Lack of sleep is linked to diabetes, higher rate of disease, obesity and more.
How big a priority do you place on getting good, sound, healthy sleep? It's a habit of health we can't afford to ignore.Â
7 Weird Things That Promote Weight Loss
I don't know how "weird" these are, but some of them make good sense. My thermostat turns itself down to 57 degrees at night in the winter. I save on my gas bill and, as it turns out, burn more calories while I sleep. Â It's a win-win!
12 Yoga Poses For People Who Aren't Flexible
Arthritis in my knees and hip has limited my flexibility. After I recover from hip replacement surgery, though, I think I'll try some of these poses and see if I can't increase strength and flexibility in my knees before they're shot, too.
Sleep’s Best-Kept Secret: A Treatment for Insomnia That’s Not a Pill
Good sleep is a key part of optimal health. But not everyone gets good sleep consistently. Here's an alternative to expensive hospital-based sleep studies or prescription/OTC medications. I'm tempted to give it a try!
If Natural Foods Came with Ingredient Lists, This Is What They Would Look Like
Australian high school chemistry teacher James Kennedy created the above infographics to highlight the fact that foods found in nature contain a whole bunch of stuff people don't normally think about: constituent ingredients, color and preservative components, flavor compounds, and more. Â
"I wanted to erode the fear that many people have of 'chemicals' and demonstrate that nature evolves compounds, mechanisms, and structures far more complicated and unpredictable than anything we can produce in the lab," says Kennedy. "These posters aim to show that chemistry isn't artificial and dangerous, but that it is natural and everywhere." Â
Of course, this doesn't mean that Cheetos are healthy—and it's still a good rule of thumb to buy packaged foods with the shortest ingredients list possible.
When getting what you want is not a "big deal" struggle, but an "of course" reality and commitment, there's no end to possibility.
#Motivation Monday
What are you waiting for? Are you ready to take the journey to health, vibrancy, and energy like Jeannie did? Â Contact me at [email protected] and let's talk.
Here's Jeannie's story:
At 210+ pounds, I had spent 15-20 years trying every weight loss plan and diet; read- ing self improvement books; doing twelve step work.... I couldn’t remember a time when seeing photographs of myself or walking by a mirror didn’t cause me to cringe in shame. Â
I just couldn’t believe that this size 22 woman was me. But nothing I tried to change about my appearance worked for any length of time. Even exercising 5 days a week changed nothing.  In total desperation, I had gone so far as to get quotes for lap band surgery. Fortunately (and I only say that now), it was not financially feasible. Â
I started this amazing program in at the first of last year and nothing has been the same since! The simplicity, straight-forwardness, affordability, as well as the consistent weight loss and high energy level I felt, made the days fly by. By fall, I had reached my goal!!!! Actually, I surpassed it because I thought I was being unrealistic to strive for a size 14, and in November I was a size 6-8! I have more energy than I can ever remember having, even when I was much younger, and I never want to go back to life before.
The Norwegian Men's Curling Team -- and their pants
I love this perspective from the Norwegian Men's Curling Team about the relationship between their crazy uniforms and their performance. What could you accomplish if you weren't worried about looking like a fool? What if you just embraced looking like a fool? What might that open up?
Imagine choosing to look like a fool for the sake of your life vision or goal. Wow, if we all were willing to do that, there's no limit to what might  be possible.Â
I shot this picture about 10 minutes after shoveling 5" of snow off the deck, just after I came in from finishing up the deck stairs. It didn't take long for those boards to be covered again. It's easy to feel frustrated when I've worked at something and seen my progress covered up so quickly. Sometimes it doesn't feel like progress at all. As I was shoveling in the midst of still-falling snow, though, I realized that it's a lot like losing weight or making any change in life. If you get out there and do part of it, you've got a head start on the whole thing. 5" of dry, fluffy snow is a lot easier to shovel than 8-10" of wind-packed snow. If I can get the first part done, the second part will be much easier. You want to lose 15, 15, 50, 100, 150 pounds? All you have to do is get out there and get the first bit done. And then the next bit. And the next. You don't have to do it all at once.
Hello everyone! Today we will be talking about a timely subject: New Year'™s Resolutions. Some of you might have even started on Take Shape For Life because of a New Year’s Resolution or some of the coaches might see a large increase in clientele during this time of year.
Did you know that New Year'€™s resolutions are typically made for five consecutive years or more before long-lasting change is made? Pretty crazy right?! You know, when we’re talking about New Year'€™s Resolutions we are really talking about commitment; making a commitment to take responsibility for your health. So, if we make a commitment to change our unhealthy ways and we really want these changes to happen, then why do so many resolutions fail?
Perhaps it is a lack of willpower? Or a lack of desire? The short is answer: No. The real reason lies in what we call "€œpremature action."€ Premature action is exactly what it sounds like.Â

The idea that there are obese people who are nonetheless healthy may be a myth.
Although some overweight or obese people have normal cholesterol, glucose levels and blood pressure — elements of so-called metabolic health — a new study suggests that obesity by itself increases the risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes and death.
Researchers analyzed 12 studies that had together followed more than 61,000 adults, most for at least 10 years. About 9 percent of the subjects were obese and metabolically healthy — that is, they had normal LDL, HDL and total cholesterol, along with healthy blood pressure and blood sugar levels. The report was published online last week in Annals of Internal Medicine.
