Summary: You have a movie night with the famous actor, Mason Thames, also known as your best friend.
FYI:: I originally wrote this imagine on Wattpad in 2023; I have a Mason Thames imagines fic on Wattpad and I decided to copy and paste this oneshot on to Tumblr. Of course, I rewrote some things because my writing was lowkey horrible. Anyway, enjoy!
Mason Thames, the famous celebrity who is an actor, a role model, and also your best friend. Mason Thames has been your best friend ever since you starred in the movie The BlackPhone with him as Donna, Finney Blake’s crush in the movie. Ever since you met him, you’ve had major heart eyes and you were just beginning to realize it.
You tried so hard to ignore and push your feelings away since you knew he didn't like you back, you two are just really good friends... but, of course, you couldn't help it. You think about him all the time and get butterflies every, single, time you hear his name or if he looks at you.
You hated it. You hated knowing the fact that you’ll never have a shot, which makes it so much harder for yourself to move on. At first, you tried finding a new crush, but apparently, you’re a very unlucky person, meaning that you didn't find another crush to obsess over. The only people who know about your crush on Mason is Madeleine McGraw and Miguel Mora, two of your amazing friends that also starred in the movie; The BlackPhone with you. They have helped you in so many ways to try and get over Mason but you just keep on running back to him which pisses you and your friends off so much. It’s like a never-ending cycle.
Tonight, however, was going to be different. You invited Madeleine, Miguel, Tristan, Mason, and Brady over to have a movie night and sleepover. You sorta wished you didn't invite Mason but that was just the nerves talking. Of course, you would be a little awkward around him, but you are good at hiding your feelings. You ignored all the thoughts rushing through your mind and got out of your bed to change into a comfy outfit considering you weren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
You started to get ready and put on some light makeup; mascara, lipgloss, and a touch of concealer. Once you were done, you brushed your teeth and hair then ran downstairs to get some snacks and set it up on the coffee table, as well as get some pillows and blankets. Your living room was semi-big, so everyone had just enough room for everything.
Finally, you made some popcorn, got some candy and some drinks and set them up on the table. When you checked your phone and saw that they'd be arriving soon, you almost jumped out of joy. You were so excited to see them, it had been awhile since the last hangout with the friend group.
You waited patiently for them to come, sitting on the couch scrolling through Instagram, until you heard a knock. You jumped up from the couch and ran towards the door and swung it open only to be greeted by Mason Thames.
"Oh! Hey, Mase,” your cheeks flush out of surprise. You weren’t expecting him to be the first to arrive. “Come on in,” You say sweetly while smiling. Internally, you were screaming with nervousness and excitement.
“Hey, Y/n, How are you?" Mason asked, giving you a hug, which you immediately responded to his embrace. You felt giddy and happy because of his unexpected yet not-unwelcome hug.
"I'm good, how are you?" You asked, pulling away from the hug with a dazed smile on your face. “I'm alright. Earlier today was a bit stressful but I'm glad I can relax and be here with you— and uh, of course— be with everyone else.." Mason stammered, which ignited a sense of curiosity and pensiveness in you. You silently observed him fidgeting with his rings on his fingers and cocked an eyebrow. He's never this nervous unless if it's a premiere or interview.
"Are you sure you're good? You don't look too well.." you reply, looking into his brown eyes. "Yeah! Yeah I'm fine,” Mason quickly answered with a slight voice crack. "Alright then. Let’s wait for the others,” you tell him with a hint of skepticism in your tone, leading him into the kitchen. He was acting strange, but you decided to brush it off.
"So, what movie are we watching?" Mason asked you, looking at you while you stared at your phone mindlessly. You perk up, shutting off your phone and looking at Mason, tracing his handsome features with your eyes. "IT: chapter one?" You suggested with a small shrug. “I’m good with that,” he smirks before continuing with a teasing tone,
“That movie is not scary at all, though.”
“What? It’s totally scary?” You say with a scoff and narrowed eyes.
“Sure, sure. Whatever you say, Eddie Kaspbrak,” Mason’s smirk turns into a full on grin as he teased you. You scoffed and shook your head while he laughed.
Soon, everyone finally arrived to your house and everyone all settled in and got comfy on the couches. You were skipping through HBO Max, trying to find the movie because you were too lazy to search up IT: Chapter One. After a minute or so though, Brady got impatient and snatched the remote out of your hands, clicking ‘search’ and looked up the movie. He sat back down on his spot of the couch, settling back in with a huff. You chuckled and shook your head with amusement. Tristan and Brady were sitting on one couch together, while Maddy and Miguel were sitting next to you and Mason on a separate couch. You and Mason were directly sitting next to each other though, sharing a blanket together, to which he kept pulling closer to him.
“Mason! You’re taking literally the entire blanket!” you snap with faux annoyance, ripping the blanket closer to yourself. “I'm cold!" Mason retorts, throwing up his hands in defense. "Get another blanket then,” you glare at him and Mason rolls his eyes. “No, that’s too much work.”
"You guys act like an old married couple,” Miguel spoke up, enjoying the stupid fight you two were currently having. "This is entertaining to watch and all but I want to watch the movie so hurry up and stop bickering,” Tristan hissed.
"Just keep the blanket,” you sigh, giving up. Mason licked his lips and pulled the blanket up to his chest, snuggling himself in. Mason tried to act nonchalant, but you could tell he felt bad, which made you slightly smirk.
After about a few minutes, you spoke up once more. “Mason, I'm actually freezing,” you grabbed some of the blanket and pulled it toward yourself. “Too bad, you said I can keep it,” Mason whispered, smirking at you. “Mason.." you groaned, feeling fed up and annoyed.
"Give her the dang blanket, Mase,” Madeleine ordered, rolling her eyes while also not taking them off of the TV screen. "You heard her,” you looked at Mason. He scoffed, "Here,” He said, giving you some of the blanket.
All of the sudden, there was a jump scare, making Maddy, Tristan, and you jump, only you clinged onto Mason’s arm for a split second, not realizing it. "Whoops, uh— sorry,” you sputtered out with embarrassment and cleared your throat, pulling away from him quickly. “You're good,” Mason chuckled, looking down at you.
As the movie progressed, Mason started to get more bold, if you will. He casually wrapped an arm around your shoulders, silently pulling you closer to him. Instantly, you froze and your breath hitched. But after a moment, your body slowly relaxed, however, your brain did not. You were in shock, as it was so unexpected, but you couldn’t deny that this was amazing.
Once the movie was finished, everyone cleaned up and then got into their pajamas, etc. Tristan, Brady and Mason were sharing the guest room while Maddy and you just slept in your room.
Maddy and you were scrolling through tiktok, talking, laughing, and gossiping, until she started talking about Mason. "I saw you cuddling with Mason earlier,” Madeleine smirked at you, causing you to smile. "Oh, shut up,” you say, slightly embarrassed while looking down. "How can I?! Mason—freaking—Thames, your best friend and your crush was cuddling you!" Madeleine exclaimed, grinning happily. "Yeah, yeah.. okay.. I was so happy!! It was so unexpected. I never thought that— that he would even try and attempt to do something like that,” you recall in awe, the moment replaying in your head.
“I could tell,” Maddy giggled. “Mason was also blushing so hard; he was so, superduper smiley,” Maddy told you, biting her bottom lip and nodding, as if she was proud of herself for catching onto his antics.
“Was he really?" You asked curiously. You half-believed Maddy. It just didn’t make sense to you; everything just doesn’t make sense.
“Yes! He was practically swooning over you, Y/n. He definitely likes you,” Maddy giggled.
“I don't know about that.." you say, chuckling nervously at the thought of Mason Thames liking you back.
"Y/n! You can’t be this blind. He so does like you back! Just accept it,” Maddy whisper-yelled firmly. You thought about it for a moment; maybe he does like you back? A thousand thoughts rushed through your mind until you broke the cycle and spoke up.
“I guess we'll have to see, you sigh, turning off the lamp and laid down in bed, dreaming and thinking about Mason.
