“my dad gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person.. he believed in me.”
✝ Jonathan Harper (54) played by Robert Downey Jr
John was born and raised in Louisiana. Indi was, as one might guess, a daddy’s girl, close to her father from day dot. She spent a lot of time with him, learning and helping him with the farm and taking care of everything — she can attribute much of her knowledge to do with the farm to her father’s teachings. The two often rode horses around the farm together as a means of spending time together. Her father was the one person to believe in her, inspiring her to have a will of helping others. Growing up, John had a fascination with medicine and wished to be a doctor himself, but when his father passed away early on from terminal cancer, he assumed responsibility of the Harper family farm. Indiana, like her father, had a fascination with problem solving, with details, with a strong intrinsic need to help others. John encouraged Indiana’s big dreams and supported her desire to pursue them. She doesn’t think she’ll ever be the same after losing him the way she did.. and a huge part of her feels guilty for being away at Harvard so long.. that maybe if she’d stayed in New Orleans in the first place, she might’ve had more time.
“the greatest strength and persistence i’ve ever known resides in my mother.”
Adeline Rose Harper (52) played by Paige Turco
Adeline is the epitome of strength in Indiana’s eyes, having suffered so much loss and still remaining strong for the sake of her two daughters. She runs the flower farm side of things, and also runs Fleur’s Blooms as many know. She immerses herself in work due to her inability to deal with her grief properly, and that worries Indiana a lot. In fact, all three of them have faltered to deal with their losses properly, distracting themselves instead with copious amounts of work. Indiana at present is trying to work as much as possible to help her mother in terms of finances with the farm, so that they are able to hire workers, especially considering her father and brother are no longer able to. Adeline is also filled with warmth, very nurturing and at times, probably overbearing in a lot of ways. She just wants the very best for her daughters, and always puts them first without fail. Indi’s mother is her very best friend.. and, they need each other, now more than ever.
“despite our differences, i wouldn’t change her for the world. i’ll never stop protecting her and looking out for her.”
Alessia Jo Harper (25) played by Italia Ricci
The two were always at odds, always arguing or on opposite sides of the spectrum to do with daily choices and what not. They always struggled to have that kind of friendship most sisters tend to have due to their contrasting personalities and interests, but.. there was always a level of affection there despite anything. Their glue was their younger brother Lucas, ever since he came into the picture, their relationship has been better. Now, with him gone, the two have placed all their focus into helping their mother and holding on to whatever tethers are left for their family.. Indiana often wonders if, without their brother here, they’ll ever be able to move past their differences and find a way to connect and be stronger than ever. She genuinely loves her sister and wants to see her succeed, wants to support her undoubtedly and with everything she’s got.. but she doesn’t know how to repair the damage they may have caused growing up. Could everything they’re going through now bring them together?
“i would give anything, absolutely anything to spend one more day with my little brother.”
✝ Lucas Harper (22) played by Francisco Lachowski
Lucas was, and always will be, the baby of the Harper family. He was the glue between the two contrasted siblings, the one to keep the three of them together. Lucas, or Lukey as he was affectionately called when he was little, was equally as close with both of his sisters. Lucas was a soul of warmth, funny as hell, continuously optimistic and there to cheer everyone up whenever they were down. He was loved by all in the community, but especially by his family. Aside from working on the farm and helping his dad, Lucas was a writer and often spent his time writing short novels and immersing himself in the world of creativity. In fact, he took literature courses online so as to better his fiction writing. There’s a drafted novel hiding somewhere in his room.. but none of them have dared go in there or move any of his things. — Losing her father and Lucas was undeniably the greatest suffering she’d ever endured.. she’s not sure she’ll ever get over losing her brother so quickly the way she did. When she lost them, it felt like she lost a part of herself.. a part she’s adamant she’ll never get back.
