and slayerhood as a metaphor for queerness is like the experience of being queer in a space that isn’t safe, where you’re experiencing internalized homophobia and it’s isolating and scary and thrusts you into a world of people you’ve always been taught to fear while also kind of being like those very people you’re “supposed” to fear at the same time and while it does give you strength and courage to accept this part of yourself it also comes with a heavy burden

Jenny Calendar should have been mentioned 3000x more post s2 than she was btw. Should have haunted the story every episode. Buffy's insistence on forgiving everyone no matter what they do to her? That's Jenny. Giles inability to form a close relationship with anyone outside the scobies? Jenny. Willow's growing power and inability to control it? Jenny Calendar. The entire buffy giles season 7 debate over spike possibly killing someone? That's the ghost of jenny calendar right there. ok guys. what do we think about the concept of young jenny with compulsions? let me explain. 5 year old jenny catching on to the fact there are crosses everywhere and insisting to carry one on a necklace. her then developing a ritual of how many times she has to put it on and off before going out so it will work. 10 year old jenny having to repeat certain chants over and over again to keep her family safe. one time she forgets and that same week a great aunt dies. 15 year old jenny compulsively following enyos' rules — even the nonsensical ones — because she's so afraid someone might die if she doesn't. jenny with magical thinking. jenny with moral ocd. jenny with religious ocd. do you see my vision.

Just came home from a dinner party with the friendgroup at which several people kept saying "Ask Pedro" or "Pedro will know" and I was terrified that they were referring to an AI like Claude but no, thank fuck, they were referring to a cardboard cutout of Pedro Pascal that someone left upstairs and who has been designated a kind of patron saint status in the household.
