Daddy Dearest

A small groan came from the Hokage as he felt his youngest child climb into bed, the toddler babbling softly about monsters under his bed— sniffling softly as he curled up against the man, small tan hands gripping Naruto’s shirt tightly. A yawn coming from Yashamaru before he spoke quietly “Gonna sleep ‘n ‘ere with Daddy…..” 

" ‘ts okay Yasha… you can sleep in here with Daddy… ‘ll keep you safe from the monsters don’t worry." pulling the child a bit closer, a protective arm wrapped around the small boy. Hearing more soft footsteps making their way to his bedroom, Naruto wondered if the kids flocked to Gaara like this when she was taking care of them by herself. Sapphire eyes watching as his two oldest children peered into the dark bedroom, "Can’t sleep?"

Both children shaking their heads, Karura taking a tentative step forward, the thirteen year old closely followed by her brother. “We both had a bad dream Dad…” voice trailing off, it was not like she could ask to sleep in his bed like she used to be able to when she was younger, she was a genin now— she was going to take the chuunin exam soon.

By most standards she was supposed to be past this stage in her life where she depended on a parent to make the bad dreams go away.

Still, when she saw her father raise a tired hand and waved them both over to the bed, scooting just a bit to make room for his two children both she and her brother came forth and crawled underneath the covers. 

Perhaps being a child for just one more night was not a bad thing.
