Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test

Time to start panicking; you may want to find all of your spell books because the NEWTS are coming up! The quiz is back, and is more difficult that ever, so grab some friends and start forming teams! Non members are allowed and teams can be up to seven strong, so drop us an owl (or contact us the muggle way on Facebook or email) to let us know your team names and who you've got in a team. The quiz is going to be on the 24th of February at 7:30 but please let us know by the 23rd. You might want to get studying if you want to win! Hope you hear from you soon!

House Cup and other updates!

Hello everyone!!  Apologies for the delay, but as promised here are the updated housepoints: 

1st: Slytherin with 380 points 2nd: Gryffindor with 310 points 3rd: Hufflepuff with 260 points 4th: Ravenclaw with 240 points For those of you who couldn't make it last night, here's what you missed! Prefects If you haven't already received the email about Prefect Applications, either send us an email or message on facebook and we will send out a form for you. This is an amazing opportunity, and gives you the chance to have a say in what will be happening with our events this semester.  Victory Ball The ball is going ahead! We are now able to start taking money for tickets! It's £20 for members, £25 for non-members. We want as many people involved with this as possible, so please do try and attend! It's going to be a lovely evening with a 3 course meal, awards, and all sorts.  To pay for your tickets, either come and find a committee member (drop us a message and we'll let you know where/when you can find someone) or pay directly at the SU.  NEWTs are on the 24th February, so get your teams together ASAP! Deadlines for teams is midnight of the 23rd. Our Triwizard tournament will be commencing in March, so again keep an eye out for our owls for more details!!  Hope to see you all at our NEWTs!

Second Social was a blast last night!

Thanks to everyone who came along, it was great to see you all! If you're not a member and want to become one, visit the Student Union website and sign up! If you've never been to a social before, come on down and have a look to find people with the same interests as you!  At our social last night we were taking number for our Halloween feast, which is being held on the 29th of October at Wagamama's. Let the Games Begin!

Whoops, I think that's the wrong book ;)

Freshers' Week has officially started. We're hard at work trying to make sure everything is ready for you on Wednesday (for those attending the Public Pottering!) and Friday (FRESHERS FAIR!).

In fact, the committee did a walkthrough of the tour yesterday and, well, let's just hope everyone behaves on Wednesday... *cough*unhelpful gremlins*cough*. We're also trying to arrange a little surprise for Freshers' Fair but there is a lot of Health and Safety things that you lucky people will not see nor have to be worried about because we're looking after you... Well, Kate's doing the Health and Safety... maybe we should all be a little worried...

I hope you're all having a good time, go out and make friends. There are other clubs and societies taster happening all week so be sure to go to the SU website and have a look at what there is. Plenty of night outs too if that's your sort of thing (I'm sure you all know that).

Lastly, if you ever feel like dropping us a note to say hi or whatnot, feel free to do so! We like talking to freshers (old or new- yes I'm talking to you second and third years slyly joining in with all the freshers' events). We all look forward to seeing you all very soon!

We apologise! We've been very busy arranging things ready for Fresher's and the start of the new year! We're getting some details finalised and then we'll be able to start telling you guys what we've all been so secretive about! J.K. Rowling’s Screenwriting Debut: “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”

This morning, Warner Bros. announced that our beloved J.K. Rowling will make her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film will be inspired by the textbook penned by Rowling under pseudonym Newt Scamander for the Comic Relief Charity in 2001.

J.K. Rowling is writing original work based in the Wizarding World.

Our FIRST EVENT OF THE YEAR!!!

So it is with great pleasure we announce our first event of the year! On the 25th September, at 2pm, we will be hosting a Public Pottering Tour of Cambridge. So bring your broomsticks and Marauder's maps, and we'll show you Cambridge's answer to Honeyduke's, The Three Broomsticks, and Flourish and Blotts! Where: Helmore steps (main entrance to uni) When: 25th September 2pm

So yet another committee meeting, this one only took about 4 hours! Skype told us off for taking too long with our video call....not cool! But we are still keeping everything hush hush! The Ministry won't be happy if we divulge the goings on in the Department of Mysteries too soon! Although we can drop a few cryptic hints: 1. This lovely picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince of Cambridge 2. Chopping onions 3. BALLS!! (Not those balls, get your heads out of the gutter!!!!) Hey guys!

How are you? Hope you're all having a great summer; the weather has been great, hasn't it? I think someone's cast incendio and it's gone a little AWOL!!

We've been busy here at the Ministry getting everything ready for our return to ARU this September. We're keeping it all under wraps at the moment, but we've got lots more in store. In fact, we've got so much planned for you that we've had to recruit an extra house elf! So we'd like to welcome Samantha Still as our Quibbler (or in muggle terms, Online Media Representative). We hope you'll welcome her with open arms into our  Potter family so we can continue the magic! So for now, Mischief Managed!

Having a skype committee meeting but all members bar me are away doing one thing or another, thus I'm staring at other people's house's walls through video whilst I wait for them to come back. 

Feeling slightly lonely right now. 

On a different note, I'm off to London tomorrow! Because LEAKYCON!
