As for Clarisse, she was charmed upon receiving her husband's letter. She and the babies were doing well. The society was agreeable; many of her old friends and acquaintances were at the bay. And the first free breath since her marriage seemed to restore the pleasant liberty of her maiden days. I want a girl that likes sad boys, and not because I'm always sad but because I'm sad enough times for it to be significant. I want them to be okay with being around me while I'm sad.

You cry for one day, you tell yourself you can be weak for one day after it happens, after it ends. After you see her walking away, you let yourself cry for one day. You only allow this once, and the next day, as usual the sun comes up and you go on about your life. Luckily for me, the day of crying was yesterday and today I think I'll smile.

Before the first day of 8th grade I begged my mother to buy me these blue and white Nike shoes I felt imperative to have. Not having the mentality that perhaps it wasn't in the finances she had, I pressed it to be an issue that should have never risen. I'm older and hopefully at least a tad wiser, the bottom line is that my mother never wants to look at me and say she does not want to give me "everything in the world" let alone that she can't. My mother ended up buying me the shoes I insisted, I remember being far more enthusiastic to show the shoes off than to say, "I love my mother." 

I'm inexperienced in policies that come with being a man, there's a lot I have to learn but I smile when I understand more and more. I deposited $4,500 today and was content with myself. My mother sacrificed her life from the moment she knew a new life was going to be brought onto the world through her. Like any other student, school stresses me out to the point of wanting to surrender, then I talk to myself and demand I not be idle and hit the books. The truth is I'm dealing with gifts and possibilities that were seldom if ever tangible to my mother, I have to make the best of them. 

Mother's never asked anything for herself from me but that I do what's best for me, to me that's always been the definition of unconditional love. In October I'm going to be financially free and hand my mother the money it'll take to go on a real vacation.

I'll kiss her on the forehead and say, "This is for those blue and white Nike shoes" and I doubt she'll even remember the sacrifice she made for them. Once I finish my education and begin my profession I plan to take care of my mother, I'm very blessed with having an understanding significant other. If things continue to go well with my girlfriend and we progress towards marriage we have the common ground of understanding that my mother is a priority in my life, we'll both welcome her to our home with her living expenses completely paid for.

I guess the purpose of this post is to simply say I've been blessed with two strong women in my life, with that said, I owe them more than my life is worth.

My former Psych teacher posted this on Facebook.

"Martin Luther King. What can I say? Well, I love the man. He was liberty minded through and through. He stood for non-aggression, non-intervention, love, justice for all, civil disobedience, the second amendment, education for all, and freedom for all.  It is crazy how both parties try to claim him, yet have done little to nothing to further his cause. They have used parts of his message and distorted it for political gain. We still have a long way to go, but the strides that have been made in this country are due in large part to WE THE PEOPLE! As opposed to "them the government."  "Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?' But, conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' Here is a Georgia State Trooper in riot gear at a KKK protest in a north Georgia city back in the 80s. The Trooper is black. Standing in front of him and touching his shield is a curious little boy dressed in a Klan hood and robe. I have stared at this picture and wondered what must have been going through that Trooper’s mind. Before the Trooper is an innocent child who is being taught to hate him because of the color of his skin. The child doesn’t understand what he is being taught, and at this point he doesn’t seem to care. Like any other child his curiosity takes hold and he wants to explore this new thing that this man is holding probably because he can see his reflection in it and that’s a neat thing and he wants to check it out. In this picture I see innocence mixed with hate, the irony of a black man protecting the right of white people to assemble in protest against him, temperance in the face of ignorance, and hope that racism can be broken because this young boy may remember that a black man smiled at him once and he didn’t seem so bad after all.
