Yet again, why I have to accept a few weeks of a broken heart now rather than a lifetime of us having such wildly different ideas of commitment, love, monogamy, and the value of sexual intimacy

Putting things back in *the box.* All these memories are still hard.
On the one hand, it helps to remind myself, it wasn't just me spending my time mooning over someone tricking me as he looked at other women. He did so much to convince me I was special. I wasn't really an idiot for believing him.
But on the other hand, when I go through the box. How many gifts did he tell me upfront specifically weren't for me. Were for L but ended up not taken. How many gifts were leftover items. Or was it obvious he should bring a gift so he grabbed *something.*
And they meant SO MUCH. But also.
Like. Everything in there is a precious memory no matter what. But a few things in there mean SO MUCH because they felt... intentional.
Now, after everything, I'm kind of shocked and confused how.... I feel like there must be an explanation as to how he managed to actually give me those one or two gifts without reminding me where I stood. Because it would happen that once and never again.
