I appreciate your posts about the Yurodivye and N Corp and the specific thematic threads you see there- I've become so jaded after terrible Hollywood storytelling in other things that even with writers I otherwise trust I'm always curbing my expectations for how storylines about leftist politics will be handled because I'm afraid to get my hopes up when so many things curve around to really flat villainization instead of more nuanced critique. It's nice to see the thoughts of someone whose perspective isn't as muddled and holds those expectations for quality storytelling and execution in that area.

the big thing about how the yurodivye for me is that the people at pmoon seem to have an actual understanding of communism vs socialism vs stalinism yknow. along with the nuance of "well-intentioned but not doing anything" and "well-intentioned but doing something with reprecussions". itd be really easy for them to have gone with the reveal of what rodya brought upon her neighborhood and go "this is what Direct Action will get you and sonya is Evil for that" but at the end of the day, impulsive as the action was and as horrible as the consequences were, rodya fed people that day while sonya was sitting back planning for some grand revolution he didn't have the mind to kickstart. there's also a distinction brought between sonya being sonya and sonya's ideals and how the latter is an idea that exists far beyond the framework that he has set for himself and others

there's a part of canto 2 that i don't really see people talk about (and granted my memory is hazy even though i just replayed it for a friend LOL) and its that like, iirc, there's no real indication that sonya had the yurodivye like... helped anyone during the incident despite their philosophy. the middle are walking brick walls sure but there's no indication that they tried to help anyone escape, tried to fight back at all, etc. sonya can rip into rodya for that all he wants but what did he do other than whine and wait for the right moment. maybe it's nothing but given sonya more or less starting a cult by the current day and the implication the he Knew rodya was gonna do something so impulsive but stood by it intrigues me

I don't think we've interrogated the fact that one of Sonya's first actions in the entire story was rigging up a trash compactor above the seat of the only person at the poker table to use a prosthetic and then trying to casually chat with Rodion immediately after killing someone enough yet. Plus, with his comment beforehand of how it's pointless to just cut off a prosthetic hand, he seems to be saying that the life of a prosthetic user is equal in value to a flesh-and-blood hand. I can definitely see why he's fitting in so well with N Corp.

You DO NOT need to give every Black character you draw laid edges/baby hairs. Especially if they are children. Just because "baby" is in the name, do not assume that means children MUST have them. Learn how to draw a hairline. Learn to be okay AND NORMAL about foreheads and bald people. Learn why laid edges became a thing in the first place. Stop only ever drawing the ONE Black cultural hairstyle you saw on Pinterest, and running it to the ground like y'all did with the Killmonger locs.
