an addendum to my previous reblog:

it's not so much that eddie likes following orders, but he does like the structure they provide. he likes following orders in the sense that he likes it when buck follows orders because it keeps buck safe

but for eddie, rules are a fence that's the same height as him—you know he could jump over the fence at any time, but he doesn't because he needs you to think that he respects the fence

because if you made the fence taller, he couldn't jump over it as easily (and he really likes jumping over the fence)

he does very much enjoy treats, though. especially if his husband made them

He's loyal, eager-to-please, and sometimes chaotic. He has a huge heart, deep devotion to his found family (the 118 station), and a tendency to act with impulsive, big-hearted (golden retriever/dog) energy. I also believe he craves praise.

he is called the doggiest dog, compared to a dalmatian, called a golden retriever, howls at the moon, is said to be like a dog who humps your leg, constantly perks his ears up and wags his metaphorical tail, and was left on the side of the road in the rain as someone drove away

Compared to a dog in canon multiple times but even without that: Loyal to a fault. Barely concealed praise kink. Leg humper. Cough. Separation anxiety.

He gets compared to a dog multiple times on the show, including someone saying if he wasn't a firefighter (he's a firefighter) he'd be a golden retriever, being referred as 'the doggiest dogs of them all' and once being compared to a dog humping someone's leg. Also he actually howls and woofs like a wolf while calling someone on the phone once.

buck who doesn't feel safe alone in his own home anymore. buck who is fine as long as he is around people or knows to expect visitors but is anxious and panics when he is alone or has unexpected guests. buck who doesn't want anyone to know that he is struggling. it's fine and he can handle it all himself. nothing has changed and he is still the same happy cheery guy. nothing's wrong.
