when will 92sies adults learn that the scripts to the movie that didn’t get approved don’t really matter because they’re the only ones who care abt them.

Well in all fairness, there were some segments of the 1991 (Not hard promises but that script still has some interesting things in it) script that was re-used for the live performance. The most well-known being: "It takes a smile as sweet as butter." which was cut from the musical but revised to "It takes a smile that spreads like butter."

Also, Crutchy's bit about his leg predicting the weather came from the 1991 script as well.

Also, that bit about the newsies planning on going to sell for the journal when the price of papes rose also came from the 1991 script.

Let's not forget Crutchy turning his crutch into a protest sign.

So yes, there are some parts of the script that got scrapped altogether, but there are some parts that were reused. If these scripts "don't matter" how come they made it into the live show? Hell, we wouldn't have newsies as a whole if there weren't Hard promises first, or the 1991 script. Also, shitting on other people for being curious about a move's history is rather insensitive. Movie history, IMO, is fascinating. But, if what people are really concerned about is 92sies fans going to the hard promises script or the 1991 script and basing headcanons off of that script, why care so much? People make headcanons all the time, headscannons based off of personal experience, headcannons based off other shows and movies, headcannons that just came out of thin air. TL;DR, if you shit on people for liking aspects of a movie like it's history or the possibilities it could have had if parts of an old script were used in the final project, fuck you.

morris’ jacket is too big and oscar’s is too small, because they swapped.

morris’ fit too well and it made him restless, being unable to fuss at the hems of his sleeves they way he was used to with every hand-me-down from oscar. lacking the sense of security and warmth in a piece of clothing too big, satisfying the ever-present fear of how well the item might serve him if he had to spend a night on the street.

so, they swapped. oscar helped his own onto morris’ shoulders one morning, and pulled his little brother’s on himself. rolled his shoulders to get used to how tight the fit sat, pushed his sleeves up his forearms to conceal how the hems are inches from his wrists.

it’s why he doesn’t wear his jacket as frequently as morris does. it’s less comfortable for him. but morris likes his, and rarely takes it off, even in the warm summer months. it’s clear he feels safer in it.

oscar’s glad to give his brother the clothes off his own back if that’s what it takes for morris to feel safer.
