Over the course of this semester I am proud of how my writing process has advanced into a more structured format. While I have always created brief overviews for different sections; the extensive revision and detailed sections had me continuously editing and rethinking my argument. I plan to continue that practice in my future assignments/papers, as it strengthened my argument and deepened my understanding of each concept.

While in this class, I enjoyed learning about the strategies content creators employ to make their content more approachable. As a future educator, learning how to tailor my information/presentation to be engaging or easily understood is an incredible boon to my future. While I cover it in education oriented classes, the sole course focused on digital representation was no where near as in depth as this. Not too mention the rise in online learning platforms and systems utilized by schools.

While writing my essay, the part I enjoyed most was the evaluation of my accounts audience and content strategy. My project focused on educational gardening content on youtube, viewing the incredible amount of content they created and how they tailored it to their audience was enjoyable. While some videos covered topics I was well versed in, learning about citrus pruning and bale gardens was awesome.

what did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks that will inform your writing process after college?

I learned that drafting over a few weeks can greatly increase your writing capability instead of cramming it into one week or less. When you have weeks to do an assignment, you can better understand your data and revise the writing to the best of your abilities. Understanding this information, my writing process after college will be spaced out to help me create better and more detailed papers. I think everyone should space out all of their work like this because not only does it help with writing process, but also your mental health.

Having the time to revise my work helped me as well with this assignment, I've sadly been the type to do my papers within days of deadlines. I don't know if I'll be able to have the time to do as much revision after college, but I think I'll have to learn how for my mental health.

Original Content Writing - What did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks that will inform your writing process after college?

Being given multiple weeks of drafting opportunities allowed me to be able to better process how much work and time I will be able to put into writing my papers. Outside of class, I hope that my drafting process that I have developed will help me with any paper related inquires that I may possibly be tasked with whenever I'm outside of college.

Having such a long period of time to draft the paper helped me as well. I feel that I might not have that opportunity after college, with time constraints.

how will having a good revision process help you moving forward beyond this class?

This is the same revision process I've had for a while, although not quite as in depth with the first part of the revision. It helps me with short writing and with making cover letters and such, but I don't know how much it will help in my future classes as there is little to no writing, or the professor doesn't specialize in it and that isn't what they are looking for. I hope this revision process become more second nature rather than something I actively think about so it can be part of my every day posts and writings.

I really relate to your hope for this process to become second nature. I've always had a habit of reviewing my work, but never to such a drawn out extent. Creating a habit of this could help my writing in classes, but the type of writing is drastically different from this content analysis.

My writing process has been consistent throughout college, a brief outline of sections followed by papers finished in a single session. This project has helped me to forcibly slow down in my writing, taking weeks at a time to address the different issues that show up as I flush out my argument.

While it may be difficult to have the time to draft lesson plans for weeks at a time after college; revisiting previous lessons or assignments to aid my students will benefit them and myself.

My drafting process during this assignment was chaotic at first. I had the shell of my argument along with my data, but I was doing my best to not be repetitive while addressing each section. However, as time went on my adjustments and changes to my writing were more focused, surrounding a specific argument or visual for my data.

After college my writing process will be drastically different, writing lesson plans instead of research papers, but revisiting and editing my work across classes will help me to adapt my lessons and writing to students differing needs.

My style of writing has been present in different sections of my content analysis, often less present in the data analysis sections. Each account I have pulled data from focuses on gardening, balancing my own knowledge of credible practices and those posted by accounts has been helpful to my papers tone and arguments. I have been struggling to find a way to transfer this into the latter sections of the analysis but has provided me with more experience.

Having a consistent revision process has not been a habit of mine in past assignments. With three separate drafts for this assignment, it has provided me time to refine my work. Continuing to draft beyond rough paragraphs and revising arguments over time, is a practice I hope too continue with in future classes and papers. Leading me to provide more concise and effective writing in the more rigorous classes I have ahead.

My revision process this week has resolved around editing my data analysis section. I have been rewording how I articulate what the data represents and how it relates to my research question. The trial and error process of editing graphs and attempting to display all 90 pieces of data has proven to be a large time sink sadly.

I will be using bar graphs to depict likes per subscriber and views per subscriber for each account, organized by video time length. It will give me a visual representation of how likely a subscriber is to view that content and interact with it. I am working to create a line graph depicting the three channels likes by time length, but it has proven to be a difficult process.

What is data within your space? How does this impact your analysis?

Data within my space are the likes, comments, and shares left on a reel and these are directly tied to my analysis as these data points are what I am measuring to compare and contrast the types of content I am observing. My hypothesis directly depends on these interactions and how many are left on a post, such as one post under one content type having over 1 million likes but in the end that content type has the least amount of interactions out of all 3 types.

I assume you are doing your research through Instagram reels? My analysis focuses on time length of videos, so I'm curious if your project has a similar focus.

What are your ideas/suggestions for graphing your data so it's reported in multiple, meaningful ways?

I plan to represent my data using a mix of bar graphs, line graphs, and possibly pie charts to highlight different patterns. For example, bar graphs can compare performance across content creators, while line graphs can show trends over time (like engagement growth). Pie charts could help visualize proportions, such as types of content posted. Using multiple formats allows me to present the same dataset from different perspectives, making patterns easier to understand and strengthening my overall analysis.

It sounds like you are doing a great job. How are you analyzing engagement growth? It seems as though the accounts I am researching have a chaotic level of engagement. I've been struggling to create a coherent line graph for my data.

For starters, there should be multiple graphs with information taken from the content we are studying. As for these graphs, I feel each project will have different types of graphs because of the different content choices we have made. For example, my project would benefit mostly from pie charts and bar graphs. It would better explain what point I'm trying to get across. I feel like labels are also important for the reader to understand what's going on, and a caption underneath each one. You could make graphs for each of the three influencers or content creators separately, and then make one to compare them as a whole as well. This all depends on the content strategy you're looking at, what type of content, and which platform you chose to collect the data from.

My research question asks whether the time length of educational content affects engagement. With YouTube the likes, comments, views, and time length are what I require for my data. I have been graphing the average likes and views of videos, and comparing them to other videos by that creator or videos of similar length by my other two channels. I wish I could see a statistic of what part of the video most viewers leave; it would be an incredibly interesting piece of data especially if I could graph it.
