UI Design for Grayton the Detective Year: 2024 –2025 Grayton the Detective is a narrative adventure game about a homeless man who once lived in wealth and comfort, now showers with a kettle, and solves petty mysteries on the streets of Cleveland. For nearly two years, I worked as the Lead UI/UX Designer on the project. I was responsible for designing the game's diary-based deduction system, menus, eavesdropping mechanics, inventory and new items. I also redesigned many of the game's existing UI and visual elements to improve readability, and the overall player experience. Every UI element, including the game's logo, was designed with a worn, battered aesthetic to reflect the game's atmosphere and establish a cohesive visual identity. 1. Game Logo Designed a worn, gold logo that reflects Grayton's current life as a homeless man while referencing his wealthy background. 2. Items Redesigned existing item icons and created new ones to support the game's additional chapters. 3. Deduction diary An open view of the deduction diary and its status icons. The icons are arranged chronologically and communicate the state of the player's deductions. The default icon indicates no updates, the second animates while new evidence is being collected in real time, and the third signals that a new deduction is available but has not yet been reviewed. Once the player opens the diary and views the new deduction, the icon returns to its default state, providing clear visual feedback. 4. UI elements A little showcase of few UI elements 5. Control Sketches
