Hi everyone!! I'm super excited to announce the launch of a project that I have been working on with some other members of the Hall of Fame: Morrigan, Sammy, and Sourire, and the author of the achievement guide, Ren.

We've created a new wiki dedicated to 100% guides with all LIs. It includes step-by-step choices to get 100% with your chosen LIs, and streamlined cheatsheets you can download and use alongside a walkthrough. I've included some of the cheatsheets—we have these for all LIs.

Hi Ostentia, if it's not too much trouble, could you please explain how the balance stats work in (Hell and High Water?)

I've lost count of how many times I've restarted, followed the guide, and still end up with the bad ending 😑.

Hi! I'm so sorry, but I can't help with this...I'm not familiar enough with HHW to be of any more help than the walkthroughs.

When I was doing balance slots for SIF and HS, though, I found it helpful to look ahead in the walkthrough at what/how many stats were available and where the checkpoints are, and plan exactly what I was going to do. I'd write it down, check off my stats, and make sure I was on track at the end of every episode. It was definitely work to put the documents together (I had spreadsheets so detailed my husband thought I was doing actual work LOL), but it did work.

Ostentia, what is your opinion on the serious AI allegations in the current Waterlily story?

I'm familiar with how generative AI writes fiction and noticed several things in the story that made me think that AI was used in some capacity. I don't think it's as widespread as some people do--like, for example, I definitely don't think that Klara isn't a real person or that the entire thing is nothing but AI--but I do think she used it to help her develop the story.

It's things like the unusual focus on body parts--fingers, spines, jaws, hips, knuckles. The lack of variance in the sentence structure. The short, quippy dialogue that everyone gets. The "it's not this, it's that" exchanges. Jaws "tightening" and things "sharpening". Those are all things that AI does frequently when asked to write fiction.

I do think that a lot of it can be explained by the author's style. Waterlily is written in a poetic, metaphor heavy style; that fits for who MC is (a poet) and the type of story it is. However, I also think that there's enough there that reminds me of what I've seen in things I know for a fact were written by AI that it becomes impossible to ignore.

There's no way to know if this is true or not. I can't say with 100% certainty whether or not AI is involved, but I think it is, and I hope very much that I'm wrong. I loved this story's debut, I love the diversity, I love the LIs, I love that the fLI routes are getting equal attention and care, and I don't want to see the story fail or for Klara's reputation or mental health to be suffer. I also hope that RC will address this with Klara, and make some kind of statement to the fandom.

I would encourage anyone who's concerned about this to send a respectful, non-combative email to RC and share their thoughts. If you as a customer don't want to read or (especially) pay for material that may be written by AI, tell them, and then back it up with your actual behavior.

Thoughts on Xander post season 2? I'm curious what you think now after his sex scene. Are you still excited for what’s left of his route in s3 or did you lose all interest?

god help me, but i am still excited for what's left of his route LOL

the book is falling apart, i completely recognize its massive issues with plot and the other LIs, and the sex scene was disappointing, but i'm still very interested to see how the hell anton will get them into some semblance of a relationship in the chapters he has left and how the emotions between them will continue to evolve.

mainly i'm just really fond of xander as a character, and am always looking forward to more.

friendly reminder that when you play things matters to RC from a metrics perspective! they keep track of what gets played before DR vs what gets held for DR & how many diamonds are being spent on each story. it's a major way that they determine how successful their stories are--multiple authors have said that the best way to help them is to spend on their stories outside of DR.

sooo if you love what a story is doing and want to see more of it, try to support that story before DR.

if you're pissed at a story and want RC to make changes or stop releasing content like it, wait for DR or just drop the story entirely.

it really does make a difference! RC isn't combing through social media to see what people think, they're looking at actual hard metrics in the app. as far as that goes, if stories are getting played before DR, it means people like them. if they're getting sat on until DR, it means people don't like them.
