It’s kind of disappointing when people abruptly stop talking/interacting with you or your good friends the moment they discover the romance RP they were thirsting for isn’t going to happen.

On one hand, I like fluff and smut as much as the next person and writing erotica can be fun.  On the other - I’d kinda hope there was more to a person’s interest in my character or my friends’ characters other than “lemme smash.”  Feels bad for that to be the only reason someone was around and for there to be zero other interest about a character, their stories, their goals and motivations, etc.

I normally just reblog these as a psa and add to my rp bible tag, but this one hits really close to home for me. Worse than this is people who try to wheedle you into it after you’ve politely declined the interactions or are clearly not interested. 

I don’t play a shy/inexperienced/naive trope for you to get your jollies off to ‘corrupting’ or ‘dirtying’ her (why almost every corruption offer has to focus around ERP absolutely baffles me). I enjoy ‘clean slate’ characters because I enjoy seeing plot-driven roleplay continuously shape her worldviews and I find it fascinating to see how each interaction with other characters can affect her because of how easily she can be challenged. 

It is incredibly rare that I will suggest romantic shipping out of the box because the best romantic ship I ever had was one that was built on the exact opposite of that, and to this day remains one of the best RP plots I’ve ever had because it was so natural and organic. Stop pushing for romance rp and focus on other aspects of character interaction and I can almost guarantee you’ll have more meaningful relationships, and if things develop in that direction it will feel much more satisfying than ‘lemme smash.’

I know, I know, I've been gone forever and I'm reblogging XIV stuff which is a bit weird because I usually save that for my other spaces but honestly XIV is pretty Otakucentric. So whatever.

But this is SUPER important for folks to remember. And I wish more people would.

#1 - I fully support both these statements so hard.

#2 - As someone who literally started writing Fanfic at the age of 5*, and who has spent 13 years working on my favorite Fanfic, through losing almost my entire story four different times (two of those? I even had MULTIPLE backups. Didn't help. Which is why I now use Dropbox, another digital backup service, AND I print each new chapter. XD) ---- Awwww. >.> Fanfic has been such a huge part of my life and it'd nice to make something others enjoy. It's why I want to publish my original work and he an author. I'm not real worried about the Best seller lists or fame or money. I just really want to create stories that make people happy, that have massive emotional depth so even the most people who seem as frigid as ice are moved. Hopefully, my fanfics have already done that for some folks. :)

#3 - I have so much love for my fellow Fanfic authors and the fan art communities and I consider myself truly blessed to be a very small part of that community. <3

* - Final Fantasy IV. I didn't know polyamory was a thing, then, just polygamy, which my Mom ranted about constantly. But I knew I believed Rosa should get to be with Kain AND Cecil. I still maintain this position almost 26 years later. Because while I was never into Cecil (I felt he was like my big brother, but remember I was the same age as Palom & Porom), I was MADLY in love with Kain (my whole family talks about him being my first real love, lol. I was devoted AF), and I simultaneously wanted him to have what he wanted so he could be happy, but also couldn't fathom a world where Rosa wasn't in love with him, too. So I figured Cecil could share. XD And I still think it would be better that way. Especially considering things in After Years. Oh, also, I wrote Rydia x Edge stuff. Rydia & the twins were my heroes. But heroes *my age* were hard to come by back then. And sure, the Feymarch changed Rydia but she'd been brave enough to accompany Cecil and even fight alongside him as a child. She's a badass.
