Haunting Driftwood Sculptures By Japanese Artist Nagato Iwasaki
Nagato Iwasaki is one of those artists you don’t know much about. But his art talks for itself.
The Japan-based artist creates incredible driftwood sculptures. Each of his human-shaped figures can both mesmerize and scare you. The artist manages to create an uneasy feeling using nothing but wood and you can be sure, that if you’d stumble upon one of these sculptures at night, you’d go sleepless for days.

It’s so true. I didn’t even realize this was my fave illustrator because I was nodding too hard to even focus on the art style.
My very good friend commissioned this piece as a birthday present for his amazing girlfriend. She’s a big fan of the book “Perdido Street Station” and rightly so because it’s a puh-ritty epic read. The picture is a portrait of Yagharek, one of the book’s main characters. I think it turned out decently well and she seemed to like it so a great success all around! Happy Birthday Hannah!!:D
Gorgeous movement in this piece.

At Target this lady told her son he couldn’t have a Wonder Woman doll because “that’s for girls” and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.

I read somewhere that the actors for Loki and Frigga decided they should share a tic...to pick at their hands when they were upset or nervous. I decided to look for it, and lo and behold, it’s true! I guess that’s something of a ‘tell’ if Loki is in disguise, heh heh. Fauxdin indeed.

"On January 1, 1969, a flood in my office-kitchen at Prince of Wales College on Prince Edward Island ruined all of my 16mm raw stock. When Larry Perron came as a visiting artist, we used this film to generate a series of non-camera experiments."
