Otto nodded in agreement slowly, clicking her tongue. “Very peculiar, yes.” Which is was. It would’ve taken a lot of force for someone to snap a table in half like that, and part of her was curious about who it was just to ask how exactly they managed to do it. “Spontaneous combustion… isn’t that when things catch on fire? I don’t think that refers to splitting in half.” She let out a small chuckle, starting to remove the remaining legs from the rest of the table to make it easier for transport. “Oh, of course! It was only a matter of time I suppose, no?”

Otto let out a chuckle, turning away from the table to look at the girl again. “Duct tape, huh? I’m not sure my superiors would like the aesthetics of that.” Maybe that was stupid of her to say to certain people, but she didn’t really care in the moment. Lana didn’t seem like someone who would snitch on a joke anyway. “How the hell do you think someone could even do this? Especially with nobody watching.”

Otto raised an eyebrow at her exclamation before nodding slowly. “I am. It’s nice to meet you as well.” She took her hand, shaking with a firm grip, just the way her father had taught her as a child. ‘Nobody wants to shake hands with a limp fish.’ he would tell her, and it just always stuck in her head. “I’m Otto Carrack and you’re... Fiorella right?”

Otto let out a small laugh at Felix’s comment, shaking her head. “Oh, but of course. Imagine how hard you have to go to break these tables though.” That was probably a little too inappropriate, but then again so was his response in the first place. “I guess it’s better that you didn’t see then, huh?”

Otto looked over at the woman as she spoke, trying her hardest not to narrow her eyes as she noticed her feet propped up on the table. Surely another person would do that too, and break yet another table that she’d have to fix. “Huh... okay.” It wasn’t her place to ask again. However, it was her place to fix the almost too broken table. As she got on her knees to check it out further, she decided she might as well pass the time with a little conversation. “So, are you enjoying the games?”

Fiorella was just walking away from the bar after what felt like doing so for the tenth time this night. She had never had so much alcohol during a ball before. After her tributes died, she went a little nuts and had no choice but to suck it up and get through the night as no one was allowed to leave until the victor was crowned.

She wanted so badly to be home right now. Normally, she watched the games from the catacombs below the arena and went straight back to her quarters once the bloodbath had concluded. But this? She was forced to watch every minute. 

It wasn’t until she turned around and noticed a girl who had somewhat looked like her from behind. She then approached her as she needed a little guidance, “Hey, do you know where table with all of the beef is? I’m starving and cannot find it for the life of me. There’s so many rows of them that I lost track of everything,” she explained.

The games were somehow still going on. The only way that Otto would be able to describe them was ‘never-ending nightmare’, but then again they did end. They ended after 23 people were dead, never to return. And somehow, beyond her comprehension, all of this death was enjoyed by the people of the Capitol. It was barbaric and disgusting, but there was nothing that she could do but watch between her tasks, making mental notes of all the horrible things that occur to later write down in her journal.

There was a few minutes of down time between her last task of fixing a light and the next job to come in and the entire time, her eyes were glued to the screen, silently wishing that the end would come sooner. It never did though. The Gamemakers liked to draw it out for the entertainment of the citizens. 

Otto almost jumped as a girl approached, pulling her out of her trance with a question. “Uh... beef, beef, beef...” Her eyes scanned over all of the tables, resulting in a frown. “Shoot. I’m pretty sure that second to last table over there is the beef, but don’t quote me on that.” A quiet laugh escaped, nervous that if it wasn’t the beef that she’d get in trouble. “Seriously. Don’t.”

“You’re welcome.” Otto gave him a small smile, the fact that her comment seemed to make him happy lifting her mood a bit. It always made her feel good when she made others proud of themselves. She patted his shoulder, watching the food as it just sat there. It had been awhile since her last meal, but she was on the job and couldn’t take a break to eat again without facing possibly repercussions. His question brought her back to reality, looking up at him before holding up her tool box. “I got it all right here. I try to take it anywhere I go, just in case, but you can borrow some of them if you need to.”

Otto walked into the room with her tool box in hand, humming a song as she went. Her superior had sent her to fix up a table, but it definitely wasn’t what she was expecting. The table was completely destroyed, literally broken down the middle with two legs snapped in half. It was beyond repair; they’d just be better off getting a new one. “Uh...” She looked around, eyes settling on the first person she saw, “Did you see who did this?”

“Oh, I apologize, did I cause an interruption?” Anon asked, poking his head out from under the table. “One of the legs of the table was wobbly so I was asked to fix it. It must be all this delicious looking food being piled onto the the table that made it falter.”

Otto almost jumped as Anon popped his head out from under the table, not expecting anyone to be there. After taking a second to compose herself, she shook her head, giving him a small smile. “No no, you’re fine. I was actually... just sent here myself to do it, but I guess you got here first.” Bending down a little, she checked out how well he had done before nodding in approval. “Nice job.” His remark got him a small laugh as she agreed, wishing she could eat the food herself. “You’re probably right with that one.”
