We bring you this neat video from Hillary Frank, who we know from her husband Jonathan Menjivar, a former Fresh Air producer who now works at This American Life.
The video is about a mom whose daughter stops wearing clothes and goes naked for over four weeks. It was produced by Hillary, Jen Corace, and Joe Posner for the new podcast about early motherhood, The Longest Shortest Time.
Just listened to this for the first time. Love NPR. And ya Occupational Therapy!
Good reminder. #mentalhealth #POPT

Full body tactile experiences are incredibly effective in helping the entire tactile system learn to process information correctly.
How it helps:
1. Tolerate various textures of clothing
2. Tolerate light unexpected touch (such as on the playground, standing in line at school, circle time)
3. Improve temperature regulation
4. Improve the ability to feel the pain response correctly
5. Improve body awareness

I relate so much to this article on many different levels. I believe that neither children nor adults get enough movement in the course of the day. Whether you’re at school or work, most of us sit still. Movement needs to be the number one priority for health and wellness.
