“Which is more difficult, to awaken one who sleeps or to awaken one who, awake, dreams that he is awake?”
— Søren Kierkegaard, Works of Love
“In spite of so many stubborn lies, at every moment, at every opportunity, the truth comes to light, the truth of life and death, of my solitude and my bond with the world, of my freedom and my servitude, of the insignificance and the sovereign importance of each person and all people.”
— Simone de Beauvoir, The Ethics of Ambiguity
Ok look.... anyone who knows me knows I hatteeeee telling people what to do but here are some concepts that might be for you if you think they are.
1. breathing life and giving political substance to conspiracy theories as a person of leadership, or really as anyone especially not knowing fully what they are, is not a great quality to have and also makes the group look weak.
2. There’s a term in philosophical and logical thought called “Occams razor”. If you don’t know what it is then maybe take a look. Long and short of it is if you have an idea or conspiracy that takes too much work to make sense.. it probably doesn’t make sense.
3. While most conspiracy theories are based in some small form of truth, that doesn’t mean the whole conspiracy makes sense or is true (see Occam’s razor)
4. FUCK TRUMP
5. Choosing the lesser of two evils in terms of progress is still progress so don’t try option C if option C has no weight or is 9 times out of 10 going to waste your effort. As Lao Tzu/Bruce Lee says be like water. Don’t bang your fist at a immovable object. Things progress slower than we want and it takes a lot of people to create that change but don’t be discouraged, ideas and beliefs take a lot of effort and time to realize change, like water.
6. This one is more a general thing. To steal a little from Simone de bouvier. Be ok with the intense and ridiculous ambiguity that is life and find peace in the constant shift of ideas taking place but also don’t be indecisive about what you believe so much so you will believe anything.
Just some thoughts.
FUCK TRUMP
Good talk.

“There are truths which are not for all men, nor for all times.”
— Voltaire, Oeuvres complètes de Voltaire: Correspondance
“Whatever principles you put before you, hold fast to them as laws which it will be impious to transgress. But pay no heed to what any one says of you; for this is something beyond your own control.”
— Epictetus, The Enchiridion
“Socrates said, “The misuse of language induces evil in the soul.” He wasn’t talking about grammar. To misuse language is to use it the way politicians and advertisers do, for profit, without taking responsibility for what the words mean. Language used as a means to get power or make money goes wrong: it lies. Language used as an end in itself, to sing a poem or tell a story, goes right, goes towards the truth. A writer is a person who cares what words mean, what they say, how they say it. Writers know words are their way towards truth and freedom, and so they use them with care, with thought, with fear, with delight. By using words well they strengthen their souls. Story-tellers and poets spend their lives learning that skill and art of using words well. And their words make the souls of their readers stronger, brighter, deeper.”
— Ursula K. Le Guin (via jonnoxvxrevanche)
““There’s a loneliness that only exists in one’s mind. The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.””
—
“Men believe that themselves to be free, simply because they are conscious of their actions, and unconscious of the causes whereby these actions are determined.”
— Baruch Spinoza, Ethics
“It is dreadful to think that behind me my own past is no longer anything but shifting darkness.”
— Simone de Beauvoir, The Woman Destroyed
“The name of peace is sweet, and the thing itself is beneficial, but there is a great difference between peace and servitude. Peace is freedom in tranquility, servitude is the worst of all evils, to be resisted not only by war, but even by death.”
— Cicero, Philippicae
“When you live deeply and freely, you conquer death.”
— Anaïs Nin
