Introduction!

Hi! This is the official blog for my work-in-progress visual novel Our Only Love! This page is managed by @nifreti-ii.

This will be a 18+ blog, so please no minors. I will monthly go through my followers and block anyone who doesn't have their age in their bio.

The VN is still very much in its infancy so all character appearances and minor personality details are subject to change (at this moment, nothing severe).

Fuck it

So the main reason I havent drawn as much as I want to is because my beautiful tablet just doesnt wanna work (as in 1/3 of the screen becomes unusable, the buttons on the pen dont work, and it just disconnects) and It pisses me off whenever it happens.

I have finally caved and bought a new (tho little guy lasted nearly 4 years so I got my use out of it) so expect more art :D (that and Ive been hyper fixated on crocheting to the point my hand hurts so I need a well earned break.)

April Update

So my ideal Adhd meds have a shortage (not so fun fact, concerta and the off brands share like 80-90% of the formula and that 20-10% MATTERS smh) The shitty off brand works at 50%.I have made progress on the script, about 50% and coded a little bit :D. It’s not as much as I wished but it’s better than past me (o. o). I should be getting a new script for my meds so hopefully I’ll be getting the good shit T-T. I'm going to stop updating until I finish the script COMPLETELY, even if it takes a few months. <3

March Update

Monthly update! Not much progress on the script (went back to edit what I’ve written) but half of it is done! 

Not a complete bust since I’m working on sprites, along with the final designs! I plan to finish their general design and partially work on coding :D

I’m thinking of doing lil intro things for them (full render of them doing something with lil sketches/doodles of them doing hobbies?) I think it’ll be a fun way to get a better grasp of their personalities.

Either way great progress has been made (much better than before :,)) hopefully next month will be even better!

What perspective do you prefer VNs in?

Since I'm rewriting the script, I wanna know what perspective you prefer VNs to be in?

I've played a few in different perspectives and I'm able to adapt to them but curious what most people prefer. It's fairly easy (for me) to go through every to readjust it

Based off the poll, Second person it is!

The first version of the script was in second person, than in first person. The current script is in second pov so this works out for me. I have to go back and tweak a few things but everything is going along beautifully!

(post script-I plan to do a BIIIIIG blog overhaul when the vn is finished so it's look less put together with duct tape and nails)

2026 February update!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve given an update about progress. I had gone to get my certification (fucking sucked) and the month or so since I’ve graduated I’ve been appreciating not being stressed out 24/7.

In regard to the vn, I’ve decided to rewrite the entire script. I’ve found that the over 6 month process it took me to write the script, resulted in my writing style to change significantly.

Though, that just means I can finish it faster! Since I have a base to go off of and know how to write the LIs better, the rewritten script has been going along wonderfully! I’m already nearly done with the first section. At the rate I’m currently going, I estimate that I should be done mid to late march.

I in general have a better idea on how to put together everything now, I feel a lot more confident. I want the first chapter to feel like a introduction and have removed a few options (that I plan to add in other ways in later chapters) to keep it more concise.

I assure you that progress should go a lot more smoothly now! Until next update!

Informal update!

I know I’ve been silent here and sadly the game hasn’t had much progress. I’ve been getting my ass beat by college but thankfully I’ll (hopefully) be getting my certification so I’ll have free time again :D

Dev Update - End of June 2025

I’ve decided to rewrite the script as I get to it, aka I’ve started CODING!! Coding has so far consisted of Renpy guide, videos and me saying “fuck it!” and mashing keys till it works. I’ve gotten fairly far into coding and it’s been a good way for me to WANT to still work on the script :,). Still not much of an update and I might start doing a Dev update every 2 months instead of every month. I will post one at the end of july at the very least before I decide.

Dev Update - End of May 2025

I finished the LI most recent designs (might do a little tweaking but nothing crazy). I didn’t work on the script too much because of medication shenanigans and hosting my partner. I’ll be living to their country today for over month and will only bring my laptop and drawing tablet. Aka, only drawing and writing for me lol. I finished rewriting the first half the script and have the other two parts.

I should finish the script editing by end of June!

Not an official update

My partner came over seas to visit me and I’ll be leaving with them to their country at the end of the month. I haven’t really worked on the vn much, just little snippets here and there. I do plant to only bring my laptop and tablet when I leave so I’ll be mostly forced to focus on writing.

I will make my end of May update when it’s time and I’m still working on it!

Dev Update - End of March 2025

It HAS BEEN FINISHED!!! THE SCRIPT HATH BEEN COMPLETED!! Im gonna go hype myself in the mirror now lol. Now all I have to do is edit the script to the final version. I will start working on the LIs final design, tempting coding and cgs/ bgs. All at the same time cause ADHD has already killed me for focusing on one thing at a time. I’ll (in due time) post the final designs AND the character info sheet. Sadly I hard reset my PC and lost somethings (nothing too important lol) and have to refigure my drawing application since I lost some of my brushes and all. Im so excited to get to the drawing!!! (not so much coding but a new talent is always fun :p) (did i wait until after april first to post this? Yes, yes I did)

Not a proper update. I haven't been able to work of the script much. My eye doctor got the wrong prescription for my glasses and I've been having to wait 3 weeks to get them. (a week to get the lenses a week to reschedule and another week now for the new prescription :/) Though I can still see, reading/writing on my computer causes headaches and me looking like a shrimp just to read. (astigatims sucks)

Dev Update - End of January 2025

I’ve finished all the love interests routes! YAY WOOOOOOO!! I only have to finish up the script and then get into the script editing. If I finish this before the end of February I'll probably make a post about it :p. Once the script is prettified I will do the redesign of the LI. I will reiterate that Chris will have the biggest design overhaul out of them. I do plan to take my time with their design, unlike their first design which I did within a week or so. 

Also, I moved the first day of February (the main reason this post is so late) and FINALLY have settled in (couldn't move in furniture for a while). I'm no longer emotionally and physically exhausted so I will start working on the script again :3

Dev update - End of 2024!

I started to work on the script on March 4 2024 and I have been able to complete most of the script. Currently, I only have Tam’s negative route left, which will be shorter to write for compared to the positive route. After that, I have to just wrap up with some MC silliness, and I'm done! 

I have finally acclimated to working and starting to get my groove back! Thankfully with the holidays being over I am working a bit less and have more time to think. The current plan for 2025 is to finish the script, revise it, work on redesigns, and work on art and coding at the same time. Cross my fingers that I can get to redesigns by March!

2024 has so far been the best year for me since THE VIRUS. 2025 isn't gonna be easy (life never is) but I still look forward to it!

As a celebration of the new year and almost finishing the script, I shall reveal a (unedited) script snippet! (I plan to do another snippet once the final version is completed, this is subject to change) 

 M “Man… I missed this… I missed you, Sprout. I’m so happy ya called me, I thought you never wanted to talk to me again.” 

“I frowned and shook my head.” P “I… Never wanted to leave, I never wanted to stop talking to you. It’s just- I was too scared of my parents back then to even try to stand up to them. I was a damn coward! I- I'm sorry Mills… I know it doesn’t change the fact, but I’m sorry for leaving you…”

“I felt tears starting to well up in my eyes. How more pathetic could I be… Crying because of my own damn decisions… I felt a hand gently graze my cheek. I looked at Mills as she wiped away one of my tears (zoom in). She continued to stroke my cheek.”

M “Yeah, well this time I won’t let them. They can threaten and harass me as much as they want, I won’t let them take you away from me.”

Impromptu post, I will be doing my devlog in the new years since I have done some work on the vn :D

Making this to just to say, Chris is gonna have a completely new design when I get to re designs. I avoided that design cause I thought it was to generic bUT ACK I don’t like how he looks. It’s not my Chris! So I plan to draw him how I intend from the start, or something similar. Hopefully I get to that point next year.
