i, um, have an interesting development in my life? other than being an engineer, having a job and new apartment, etc etc.

my brother’s car is totaled. the timing belt spontaneously snapped and that car is done. not through any fault of his own, the car is just old and couldn’t bare to live anymore. unfortunately, he can’t afford a new car. he doesn’t make enough money, etc.

so my parents are going to buy my car for him, and they’re super overpaying for my car. best case, my car is actually worth about 9 grand, MAYBE 10. depending on what i’m able to find in the next few days or so, they’re going to pay for a new car for me.

well, not a NEW new car. i’m looking for some 3ish years old, trying to stay under 15 grand. i was hoping to put this off a year for when i’m more established, because this plan has been in the works for over a year. but brother needs a car to get to work.

so...i might be getting a new car this weekend?

going to be a pain in the ass though. calling AAA to switch insurance over, getting it switched for my apartment, my work, anything else applicable...

i am trying to upgrade a bit though. i currently have a bottom rung hyundai accent. it’s nice, it works beautifully, but has some eccentricities that drive me crazy. i’m ideally looking to get a hyundai sonata, a few years old, and either white, silver, gray, or black. preferably not black, but that’s acceptable.

i just didn’t expect this to happen so fast, but my brother’s car is demolished. a snapped timing belt isn’t something you come back from, especially for a car that’s already 15 years old. not worth.

i had to take my new cat to the vet today because her eye is watering and i feel so horrible. like i just had to leave her there, she probably thinks i abandoned her. i’m just waiting for the vet to call and let me know i can go get her and bring her back home.
