The first image shows a comment of ignorance or an honest curious question I think I'd like to address it. @wolfman-14 asked why do black people committ majority of the crime being that they're the minority.(in America that is) Well this is common sense quite honestly Let's break it down a bit A crime is considered crime when a law is broken correct? Okay, if you're surrounded by majority of people who in the past have been a potential threat to your entire race...what would you do to survive? Follow their laws, which by the way, were not initially designed to protect your race but to keep your race in place? You can say you would, but I doubt it. But just in case you say you would follow those laws..let's go even further. The laws were written with protection of your rights as well. Well blacks weren't protected..and quite honestly they aren't today either. Don't tell me they are. Please don't. They committ "74 "% of the crime because 85% of the population already appears to be against them and will do almost anything to ensure they don't succeed in life. There's a 1% of whites I'd like to believe aren't racist in America however. The second image shows a demographic of the world. It's not recent but it is within this decade. Lets compare the percent of whites to non-whites now wolfman... Whites, an uncultured group of individuals who divide, conquer, steal, and force non-whites to believe they are the superior race. Why? Because they are the minority race of the WORLD. Sure they don't break laws in America, but they are evil minded and sly, I mean..how do you steal an entire country and give them back a proportion of it and consider it a deed well done? How do you take an entire race, bring them to a foreign country, consider them savages because they are different, force your own ways own them..then hate them as if they ASKED to be here ? How? Because when you are a minority, you will do whatever it takes to preserve your race, and your life. Even it means breaking families, breaking spirits, and breaking laws, wolfman.

For all the people going: being black or lgbtq isn't technically a disability, bad comparison, etc etc.

Handicapped/disabled people are a part of of the group of people who get denied jobs because of how they are born

So are black/lgbtq people.

Handicapped/disabled people are a part of the group of people who get mistreated because of how they are born.

So are black/lgbtq people.

Handicapped/disabled people are part of the group of people who get mis/underrepresented in the media.

So are black and lgbtq people.

HANDICAPPED PEOPLE ARE DISCRIMINATED.

SO ARE BLACKS. SO ARE GAYS. SO ARE LESBIANS. SO ARE TRANSGENDERS. SO ARE GENDERQUEERS. The comparison is not that far off, stop being ridiculous. The point of the writing in that space wasn't to say that lgbtq and blacks are "handicapped" it was to show how abled straight whites disregard the minorities.

Researchers have known for awhile that trauma experienced by mothers during pregnancy can affect children and even alter the way DNA is expressed without changing its sequencing. A recent study shows that it can also alter microRNA in the sperm of mice, causing anxiety and depression in offspring. The experiences of your parents and grandparents may influence the person you are today." So for all those white people who keep saying "that happened over 400 years ago, the PTSD of your ancestors can't effect you". First of all, it wasn't like once the Jim Crow laws were lifted blacks and whites mingled freely and easily. They still didn't, and still don't. And the anxiety of being denied a job, freedom, or human rights even simply because of our skin color is something our "ancestors" have had to deal with, and something we STILL have to deal with. Second of all, our ancestors are not the only ones who stood in the face of discrimination. All the victims of the 2014,15, an 16 police shootings have too. Y'all need to wake up and stop denying us our freedom, invalidating our trauma, and do your own research. How can you even invalidate trauma and anxiety that you DON'T have?? How does that work?

...Tired of the Nonsense

            I don’t want to be a Black woman anymore.  Let me clarify, I love being a Black woman… I don’t want the unnecessary bullshit nonsense that comes with it anymore.  It’s getting a bit redundant and frustrating.  As I’m getting older, I’m starting to appreciate my existence as a Black woman more and more.  The rest of the world – not so much.  Hearing the rest of the world’s criticism of Black women – particularly from Black men – makes me feel so limited in my existence, when all I want to do is explore every facet of myself. 

            There was a specific event that sparked this frustration.  Don’t laugh please.  It was the release of Beyonce’s latest album.  I recently tweeted that this album along with others like the Saint Heron compilation or Jhene Aiko’s “Sail Out” resonate with me and the countless other Black women gushing over them on social media because they remind us how dynamic and versatile we are.  This music applauds the ability to be strong, vulnerable, outspoken, hurt, sexual, loving, nurturing, fun, innovative, and a million more things at once.  It’s a beautiful thing to acknowledge in anyone, especially people who look like you and can understand some of the things you experience.  What’s not beautiful is the hate that comes always follows something intended to uplift and celebrate a marginalized group. 

            First, there were the feminist groups discrediting Beyonce’s status as a feminist. Bye girl, call the cops.  Just because some of the things (like a successful marriage and maintaining a stable home for your family) that can be a source of empowerment for Black women are lost on white feminists, doesn’t eliminate any Black woman relishing in her solid relationship from donning the title of feminist.  Hate if you want to, but I’ll continue to claim the values of the Third Wave even after I find a husband willing to love me unconditionally flaws and all.  I just filed these criticisms in the “Reasons Why Minority Groups Will Never Prosper Without Unity” folder and carried on with life.

            But then I noticed a trending topic on Twitter that really rubbed me the wrong way - #MeninistTwitter. At first there were a few tweets here and there on my timeline with this hashtag.  Next thing I know, it’s taking over my twitterfeed as a number of Black males that I follow used the hashtag and retweeted other users, who were mostly other Black males.  Some of these tweets were intended to be lighthearted jokes, poking fun at trends women often tweet about.  However, some of them minimalized serious problems that women – particularly Black women – deal with, from body issues to fidelity to education.  To be honest, it hurt to see Black men putting down the concept of feminism and the needs of Black women. 

            Are we no longer allowed to want equality? Are we expected not to fight for love from our male contemporaries? Must we squelch any expression of self-love? More importantly, are you still expecting us to support you when you need it even though there seems to be a lack of reciprocity?

It’s really weak af when white women or non-black poc try to tell black women that cornrows, locs, marley twists, box braids, etc don’t belong to them. It’s like…since when did your white ass want to wear these styles? Oh RIGHT when black women created and popularized them! 

As black women we do have our own culture and our own inventions. Don’t let the Columbus Jrs. of the world tell you any different.

Black is my culture, and I identify with it

A white girl argued me up and down that “black is not an identity” and I could only laugh in the end

I shoulda said “is that the excuse people like you use when appropriating our culture?” It is an identity and you don’t get to take part of it without taking a part IN it.

Black is more than a color.

If you don’t see it as an identity, then you must be seeing it only as a color, and placing us in a box. And I can assure you black is MORE than a color.

I’m not gonna pull up any technical words from Websters because for a while, black in the dictionary had the nastiest terms compared to white of course.

Just know: Black is more than a color.

I am black, and how dare you speak on what black is to me. How dare you tell me black is just a color.

My skin is not even black, it is brown. But I am black.

Black is more than a color.

My cousin has pale white skin. His daughter is white. If you ask him, he will say he is black. He is black because he identifies with his black ethnicity and culture.

Black is a culture. Black is an identity.

If you don’t understand that, then don’t speak on it.

This is not to say I can opt in nor out of the oppression I face by not identifying as Black. This is not to say white people can identify as Black and suddenly be black either.

This is to say that a Black person can easily say, yes my skin is black, but I don’t identify/associate with/act like “them”(“Them” being culturally black people") and have more advantages than a black person who identifies with us!

In fact that statement is a way to get by,

IN FACT THAT IS A WAY TO GET BY.

Do you know how many blacks who identify with their roots have it harder than blacks who don’t?

“black is not an identity” yea, okay. Its certainly not my skin color.

The U.S. is the most incarcerated country in the world. Netflix will launch a documentary that will cover the problem of mass incarceration of African-American in the US. Everyone knows that slavery was abolished after the Civil War. Is it true? Not really. The Netflix project will cover the most essential issues of the modern society - racism, inequality and discrimination.

#13TH  was directed by Ava DuVernay, who gained popularity after directing historical drama film Selma about Martin Luther King Jr and 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches.
