The first submission of the entire party was made by @ladyofpomegranates and the last was made by @magicradishhead.
And with that done, this ship has well and truly docked. The queue is packed with wonderful work, which will continue to pour in for the next few days, and the blog itself will remain publicly available for all to enjoy for years to come. If I run another event after season 2 or for another fandom info will be available there, so make sure you keep an eye out if you're keen to play again.
All that I have left to do is thank all of you a million times over. Every step of the way I've been convinced this was going to flop - nobody would sign up, there would be fights in the discord, every single prompt was going to be a complete failure. And every step of the way you guys have shown up and been fantastic over and over and over again. You've brought worlds of creativity I never in a million years expected, and it has been beyond a joy to experience it all.
If I can wax poetic for a second, (I think I've earned it :P) the thing I love so much about creating in these parties is the complete dropping of expectations. Creating for quantity pushes people to explore and accept flaws and learn as they go - it reminds me of the parable of the pottery class. A pottery class was split into two groups, and for their final assignment the first group was tasked to create one pot that was absolutely perfect - a masterpiece - but they could only make one. The second group were graded on quantity - the more pots they made the better. By the end it was the second group who were making better pots, because while they had been working in a rush they had learned along the way, and had plenty of time to practice and hone their skills, rather than digging in to research and theory. There are advantages to both styles of creativity, of course, but there's so much to be gained to by working for quantity, and you guys have proven that when you make a lot of things fast, those things can still be fantastic and precious masterworks in their own rights.
The other thing I love about these parties is, of course, the social angle. I've gone on about it I know, but I'm genuinely still close friends with many, many people I met through parties a decade ago. (Flags, Katie, and Casper are a few of them, but there are tons of others out there who didn't feel like participating this time round.) The friendships and in-jokes, the collaborations popping up in the inbox, all of that is the most important thing to come out of all this in the end, and it warms my heart beyond what I can express here to see all of that. Thank you all, not just for bringing your creativity, but for bringing yourselves.
In the interest of continued friendships, the Discord server will remain active for one week. Feel free to chat amongst your groups or in the general chat, share thoughts and feelings on each other's works, exchange contact details, anything you want to do. I'll be locking the server because I just don't have the time to moderate a server this big full time, but if you want to set up other group chats please do so, (and drop me an invite if you want... 👉 👈 )
When the server closes I'll remove everyone's posting permissions but leave viewing permissions up, so the server will essentially become read-only. This way if you ever have ideas you wanted to come back to, or feel like revisiting a particularly fun chat, or looking for a resource someone linked, it will all still be right there where you left it.
I think that's that for announcements, thank you all once again, and enjoy the queue as it continues to trickle out!
