Five Stages of Grief
Please imagine Mal - toughest kid on the Isle, bringer of havoc, ice cold heart - and Jay - strongest kid ever, can charm his way into kisses and out of trouble, will rob you blind in a second - realizing that they are falling in love with two of the biggest, softest, cutest dorks on the Isle and going through the five stages of grief.
Denial
Because of course you canât fall in love on the Isle. Especially not with people like Evie and Carlos.
âNo Mother, I donât have friends. Iâm only hanging out with Evi- I mean, the Evil Queenâs daughter because sheâs a good distraction when Iâm stealing. I donât care about her, what are you talking about? I donât have friends. Wait, why do you ask? Did she call me her friend?â
âShut the fuck up, Hook. I donât like De Vil. He does my homework is all. Yeah, of course I donât let people pick on him, heâs mine to pick on, donât touch him. What do you mean other people are saying stuff? They better not be being mean to Carlos or Iâll-. Iâm not being protective, heâs just mine is all.â
Anger
Jay and Mal being so confused by their own mess of feelings and being antagonized by their parents and classmates for being weak.
But the thing about bad feelings is that they go away if you give them to someone else!
The two of them lash out at Carlos and Evie - yell at them for being clingy and needy and pathetic, when in reality, itâs Jay and Mal who are following them like lost puppies. But they snap at Carlos, who shakes at Jayâs voice, and at Evie, whose mascara turns ugly as it runs down her face.
With Carlos and Evie gone, the sorrow becomes worse and Mal might be more feared than ever, but she misses Evieâs perfume. No one laughs at Jay, but he misses Carlosâ soft smile.
Jay and Mal return with their tails between their legs, stolen gifts overflowing their arms, all but on their knees for forgiveness.
Bargaining
Okay, they can like Carlos and Evie, but nothing more. They donât love Carlos and Evie, they donât love anyone.
Itâs purely physical when Mal leaves kisses on Evieâs throat and collar. Itâs only physical when Malâs fingers sneak up Evieâs shirt - up her skirt - and she moves gently, as if too much would pull Evie from her grasp. Itâs simply physical when Evie shouts for her and, for the first time, Mal isnât embarrassed of her name.
Itâs just physical when Jay pins Carlos to a wall and kisses him like it could save his life. Itâs merely physical when Jay feels Carlosâ rapid pulse - faster than the wings of a humingbird - beneath his tongue and it excites him. Itâs nothing but physical when Jayâs tongue explores freckles and scars and Carlosâ hand in his hair is soothing rather than fearful.
Theyâve done this before - with each other and others. Fucking is okay. Falling in love is not.
Theyâre only fucking.
Depression
It all fails. People know Jay and Mal are helplessly in love with freckles and blue hair. Their parents and villains and other kids, they all know that Jay and Mal are weak.
Thereâs no point in stealing anymore, Jay thinks. People know heâs whipped. Everyone knows heâs not big or bad or tough. They know he has feelings and he wants nothing more than to hold Carlosâ hand like some dumb fucking Auradon movie. Harry and Gil laugh at him and push him around and Jay canât even stand up for himself. Whatâs the point?
Malâs gone from the most feared VK to a punchline. Her mother knows sheâs in love. Mal canât snarl or bite or curse without people reminding her that itâs all an act and thatâs sheâs really just a soft, little girl who likes snuggles and braiding Evieâs hair. She canât be evil or wicked or rotten.
They stay hidden on the Isle, even from Carlos and Evie. Jay and Mal lose themselves in this revelation of love and if they canât run the Isle, why bother with anything?
Acceptance
In their hiding, Carlos and Evie are left to fend for themselves. Theyâre Isle kids too, just as tough as any of them, but theyâre only teenagers against a island of villains.
When Evie shows up with scratches on her face and torn clothing and hair ripped out, when Carlos appears with bruises and a limp and cowering away from everyone, even Jay, it all turns around.
Mal gets names and Jay gets addresses and they fuck people up. With fire and knives and broken bottles and pain for Carlos and Evie - who have suffered enough and will never be hurt again, not as long as Jay and Mal are breathing - the two of them find their own villainous justice. Anyone who called Evie a name and anyone who mocked Carlos, they get their own punishment because you do not mess with what belongs to Jay and Mal, you do not fuck with Carlos and Evie.
And, overnight, their reputation is back. People tremble as Mal walks in the marketplace, grown villains become quiet when Jay comes into view. Their violence and passion have been shown and the two of them are feared and obeyed without question.
They can be both - they can be in love and they can be rotten. Mal can enjoy Evieâs soft kisses and sweet breath and she can fuck up your face with a knife. Jay can give Carlos hugs and kiss his cheek and he can throw your sorry ass into the ocean.
Being in love doesnât mean being weak and being evil doesnât mean being heartless. Jay and Mal can rule the Isle and also have a soft boyfriend and soft girlfriend.
One of these days, Iâm gonna turn this into an actual fic, I swear it.
Kind of inspired by Almost (Sweet Music) music video with Cameron Boyce in it. Enjoy!
The moment the music stops, Carlos can hardly catch his breath. Heâs hot and sweating and his clothes are sticking to his skin in all the wrong places. His breathing is labored, his hands are trembling with adrenaline.
Still, heâs never felt so good, so proud of anything.
People are clapping around him, some just to be polite, but most in actual joy.
Carlos bows and turns to Ally, bowing again to her. âYou were great.â
She bows back and grins. âYou were great. I canât believe you caught me!â Ally gushes and twirls. Even with sweat running down her face, sheâs radiant. âAnd that spin! Those leaps!â Ally sighs dreamily. âI hope weâll get paired together again.â
âYeah, me too.â Carlos says and he means it.
Thereâs a presence at his back and someone clearing their throat. Carlos knows itâs Jay and turns to face him with a grin.
âHey, pup. You were amazing.â Jay says and, bless his soul, he hands a water bottle to Carlos as well as a towel.
âThanks, Jay.â Carlos nearly kisses him, but figures the sweat on his upper lip isnât the most attractive and his panting still hasnât slowed.
âHi, Jay!â Ally chirps.
Jayâs eyes flicker to her briefly. âHey, Al.â He shifts on his feet. âYou were really good too.â
âOh, thanks Jay!â She says and her excited English accent makes Carlos smile. âBut, really, it was all your boyfriend. Heâs so amazing at dancing.â
âYeah.â Jay tells her quickly. âMy boyfriend is amazing. At everything.â Jay wraps his arm around Carlosâ shoulders, but Carlos quickly shrugs it off.
âCome on, I need to shower.â Carlos urges. âBye, Ally!â
âBye, Carlos! Bye, Jay!â
Carlos spins on his heel. âSo what did you think?â He asks Jay. He wants to know what Jay thinks, what Jay genuinely thinks about the dance. Carlos has admired Jay since he was scaling buildings and flipping off roofs and now the school admires him for his tourney and R.O.A.R. skills.
And Carlos knows Jay is crazy for him, but he still likes to impress Jay. He wants Jay to be amazed by him, just like Carlos has always been amazed by Jay.
âIt was good.â
Carlos deflates as the walk out of the room. âJust âgoodâ?â
Jay nods. âYeah, really good.â
âWell what did you think?â Carlos presses. âWhat about when I-?â
In one smooth movement, Jay has him against the wall, blocked in by Jayâs arms. Carlos barely has time to register that theyâre alone - everyone is still in the studio - before Jay is grabbing his chin and kissing him.
Carlos is still out of breath from his performance, but that doesnât stop him. He closes his eyes and kisses back, gently and chastely. Theyâre in a hallway after all. But they can kiss for a moment. They can have peace like this in Auradon.
Jay doesnât make a move to pull back, though, so Carlos pushes him back after a second.
âMy dance get you a little hot and bothered?â Carlos asks and tries to waggle his brows the way Jay always does, but heâs sure his face looks like itâs having a spazzing fit.
ââŠSomething like that, yeah.â Jay leans to kiss him again, one hand clutching at his hip, but Carlos holds him back.
âWeâre in the halls!â He hisses and squirms.
Jayâs eyebrows draw together in a horribly wounded look and he pulls back, slipping his hands into his pockets. âRight. Sorry.â
âWhatâs with you?â Carlos asks gently. He grabs Jayâs hand and continues pulling him toward down the hall. âYou were kind of weird with Ally back there andâŠâ Carlos tries not to fret too much over Jayâs pitiful pout. âWhatâs wrong?â
âNothing.â
âYou can tell me, Jay.â
Jay doesnât answer.
âDid you⊠Did you not like my dance?â Carlos mumbles, looking everywhere but Jay. âYou can tell me if you didnât, you donât have to like all of my interests.â It stings a little to say, but Jay just looks so damn sad and itâs making Carlos sad and his throat closes up, but he tries to keep talking. âYou could have left. I wonât ask you to come again, weâll just meet up after my dances if you want and then-.â
âI donât mind your dances as long as someoneâs not hanging all over you!â
Carlos blinks rapidly, his eyes burning. âWhat?â
Jay squirms by him, looking pointedly down the halls and not at Carlos. âAlly was likeâŠgrabbing you the whole time. She was holding your hand and you were so close with each other.â His nose is crinkled and his hands are clenched.
âYou didnât likeâŠAllyâs role in the dance?â
âI didnât like that she was all over you.â
Carlos stops in the hallway, brain processing quickly. âYouâŠwere jealous? You are jealous?â
Jay immediately laughs, but itâs hollow and fake. âNo! Of course not. I donât get jealous or whatever.â
âDonât lie to me.â Carlos points a finger in Jayâs face. âYou were jealous of me dancing with Ally.â
âOkay, so?â Jay snaps. âShe was all âCarlos is so amazing,â and âCarlos is the best dancer,â like I donât already know those things about you!â He huffs and crosses his arms. âI know that youâre a great dancer and that you can do all those cool things and she was totally kissing up to you.â
âOh, no,â Carlos groans and throws his head back. âDonât be so cute right now!â
Jayâs eyebrows shoot up. âHuh?â
Carlos grabs his hand and stomps down the hallway, finally pushing the doors of the music center open and storming outside in the cool night air. âJay,â Carlos turns to him. âJealousy is rooted in insecurity and thatâs ridiculous because there is nothing about our relationship that you should be insecure about.â Carlos reaches up with one hand to cup Jayâs face. âI love you, you goof.â
âI love you too.â Jay says, still with pout in full force. âIâm not-.â
Carlos points a finger in his face again as a warning.
âFine. I was a little jealous.â
âSilly boy,â Carlos chastises, standing on his tiptoes to kiss Jay. âYou donât need to be.â
âI wasnât being cute either.â Jay says, after kissing Carlos a second time. He grabs Carlosâ hand and kisses his knuckles too.
âYou were pouting because a girl complimented me.â
âI wasnât pouting because she complimented you.â Jay defends, looking genuinely shocked at the accusation. âI was pouting because she was complimenting you like I didnât already know all those cool things about you.â Jay scowls. âAnd I wasnât pouting.â
âLetâs go back to our dorm,â Carlos offers, wrapping his arms around Jayâs waist. âIâll shower and then we can watch a movie together and fall asleep with Dude between us.â
âAnd Iâll tell you all the things I liked about your dance.â Jay murmurs against his hair. âLike your araâŠbesâŠque?â
Carlos looks up from his chest. âHow do you know that word?â
Jay scoffs. âIf my boyfriendâs on the dance team, I gotta know the basic lingo. I flip through your dance book sometimes.â
âOh yeah,â Carlos says as he kisses Jayâs chin. âYou are definitely cute.â
Rotten 4/Core 4 NSFW meme?
In case the ask isnât clear, these are all NSFW
Who is louder?
Evie is loudest, but only because they all make her. Jay holds her hands above her head, kissing her mouth and face and neck, while teases her breasts and licks at her dark nipples. Carlos stays between her legs, usually with his mouth but sometimes with his dick, playing with her clit and cleaning her out with his tongue.
But sometimes they switch and make someone else lay down while the other three make them scream.
Who is more experimental?
Evie, again. She had books in Castle Across the Way about sex and she has the most friends in Auradon. Proper Auradon girls discuss politics over tea, and sex positions over alcohol. She learns a lot from Auradon and the safety of Auradon means they can try new things in their home, away from prying eyes and perverts of the Isle.
So Evie picks up books and looks up new things on the internet and shyly brings them to the group. Theyâre all willing to try something one and Mal is kind of obsessed over the idea of pegging one of the boys.
Who takes more risks?
Jay because he doesnât care. Heâll make out with Evie in the aisles of a grocery store, grope Carlos in the theatre, slip his hand under Malâs shirt at the library. He would very much like a tradition of fucking on the tourney field before any of his big games, but Carlos and Evie veto that.
It doesnât mean he and Mal donât do it though.
Lights on or off?
On. Four bodies in one bed need as much light as possible or else no one knows who is who.
In the dark, Jay thinks heâs going down on Mal, only to have Evieâs sharp nails dig into his scalp. He never has qualms about eating Evie out, but it makes him jump. Evie reaches for Malâs breasts, only to meet Carlosâ flat chest. They knock heads and accidentally elbow each other.
They laugh and roll around, but itâs so much easier with lights on.
Who is more likely to be caught masturbating?
They all like to intentionally get caught. Especially Carlos and Evie, who are so flustered and easily fall apart during sex. The two of them like to kiss and strip and go at right as Jay and Mal walk through the door. They jump apart like theyâre embarrassed, but they always intend on getting caught.
Full on masturbating though, usually Jay. It always oddly endearing because heâs jerking off to pictures of Mal and Carlos and Evie.
Who comes first?
Whoever they all choose to gang up on - usually Carlos or Evie. Sometimes they pin Evie down and tease her and kiss her and lick her where she wants until she shakes and cries, but other days, itâs Carlos, caught on his knees between Jay and one of the girls while the other kisses him.
They all have a thing for Carlos tasting his own cum. Heâs in the middle of Jay and Evie, Jay fucking into him from behind while Evie lays on her back and Carlos fucks into her. Mal strokes his hair as he closes his eyes and starts to lose himself, saying she wants to see Carlos come, she wants to see his face. Carlos canât take it and finally comes inside Evie, Jay still thrusting into him and Carlos is embarrassed and sad because Evie didnât come first, but then Jay pulls back and Mal pushes Carlosâ head down and tells him to clean up his mess inside Evie and not to stop until heâs gotten every drop and to keep going until he makes Evie come too, so Carlos eats out Evie while Jay goes back to fucking his ass.
Sometimes itâs Jay, but his stamina means heâs ready to go again almost immediately.
And even Mal, once in a while, when they all want to surprise her and she has the boys taking turns with her cunt while Evie plays with her breasts.
Who is better at oral and who prefers it?
Evie is best at oral sex on the boys because her mother had her reading books on how to please men for years. It takes time for her to stop theorizing it and begin practicing it, but Jay is happy to let her figure it out.
Jay is best for oral sex on the girls because heâs had the most experience on the Isle.
I read in a fic that Carlos traces the periodic table (as opposed to the alphabet) when he goes down on the girls and I accept that as canon. Heâs also the other boy, so heâs pretty good with Jay, knowing what feels good and what to watch out for. And he just wants to please them all.
Mal likes the control that oral sex gives her. She can make any of them whine or moan or even beg. Sheâs good in her own way and likes to do it most.
Who prefers it⊠Carlos gets a head rush from any of them kneeling for him, but Evie likes it best.
Who is more submissive?
It can be any of them.
Mal is the leader and she likes to hold all of their pleasures, but sometimes sheâs willing to give up control and let someone else take charge. She loves all of them and trusts them and takes a deep breath as she moves into the position they want. Itâs hard for her, but it can be relaxing too.
Carlos is naturally submissive, by Cruellaâs hand, and sometimes he wants to be more dominant, it makes him feel in control and not weak, not some little boy who gets pushed around. When he holds Mal up against a wall and fucks her in his arms, he feels strong and like a man. But there are days where he needs reminding that itâs okay to not be strong. Being submissive also means being taken care of and he aches for that, eager to please any of them and feel safe doing so.
Evie was trained by her mother to fit any role a prince wanted, so sheâs versatile. Though, with Mal usually taking the reigns, sheâs submissive and lets them do what they want. But if sheâs in the mood, she pushes Jay back onto the bed, crawling on top of him and riding him and her own pace, rocking back and forth and arching for him and using him as she wants.
Jay has the most experience and naturally takes the lead in the bedroom. He knows what to do and what feels good and he has the most strength. He can pick any of them up and do what he wants, but that doesnât mean he always acts like that. If Carlos seems insecure or Mal is stressed, he lays back and follows their lead.
Who usually initiates things?
Jay, typically. Carlos doesnât have sex on his mind all the time, Malâs sex drive is lower because sheâs only half-human and Evieâs too busy to think about sex.
But Jay is very in tune when all of them need a break or when they all need a night to remember their love for each other and how much they miss each other. He pulls Carlos and Evie from their desks, calls Mal over, and he kisses all of them, cupping their faces to make sure their attention is on him, this moment, and heâs so very gentle with all of them.
Who is more sensitive?
Evie is the most sensitive. Carlos has some scars that leave a lot of his chest numb and Malâs half-fairy, so sheâs not as in-tuned with her body like humans are. Evieâs chest though is her weakness.
Jayâs got the most experience and knows what he likes. If he leads them to touch him the right way, heâs pretty sensitive himself. He likes having his hair pulled and that gets him going right away.

Original Ask
How about a mal/evie/jay/carlos one shot about someone messing with Jay and the other 3 coming to his defence?
Yessss, I love my baby Jay!
Warnings for some bullying, homophobic language (I think?) andâŠgender bashing?
Mal lazily flips through a magazine, her feet resting in Carlosâ lap as he reads his physics textbook. Evie is beside them, leaning against Jayâs shoulder and playing with his hair, the four of them resting in a little corner of the student center.
Itâs is quiet. It is relaxing. It is too good to last.
âOh my goodness, Chad, no!â Audrey squeals from a few feet away. A look of disgust is on her face, lips pursed in agony as she threads her fingers through her boyfriendâs golden locks. âYou canât!â
Charming pouts, eyebrows raised in a pitiful look. âNot even just a couple of inches?â
âNo.â The princess says firmly. âIf you grow your hair out, youâll look like a girl. What kind of boy has long hair?â
Without making much of a fuss, Evie stops twisting the braid into Jayâs hair. He hardly notices, too invested in a basic history book, and doesnât comment on the half done hair style.
Evie sits a little taller and she notices Mal next to her do the same, magazine still open as just a faux distraction and to hide their eavesdropping.
Both girls easily pretend to be disinterested in the conversation, but they feel Audreyâs gaze at their group.
âBoys have short hair. If you grow it out, youâre going to start,â Audrey gulps, nose still crinkled, âwearing jewelry. Youâll steal my earrings and my bracelets and rings!â
âBabe,â Chad follows Audreyâs glare and his eyes widen. âIâm not a thief like he is,â Chad hisses after he realizes who - or what - his girlfriend is talking about. âButâŠI guess youâre right. He does kind of look like a chick.â
âAnd he has a boyfriend.â
Carlos, after sensing the movement of Mal and Evie, glances up from his textbook. His eyes are narrowed as he clears his throat.
Audrey and Chad pay him no mind, snickering to themselves.
âItâs like the blond one has three girlfriends,â Audrey laughs behind her hand.
âMaybe he thinks heâs a girl!â Chad grins and narrows his eyes at Jay. âLong hair, earrings, does he wear nail polish?â
âGoodness, does he think it looks good?â The princess fakes a gag. âHe looks homeless!â
Chad nods. âA homeless girl!â
âHey Goldilocks, Trash Princess!â Mal barks. âGot something you wanna say?â She sits straight in her seat, feet planted in the floor instead of Carlosâ lap and prepared to jump up in an instant. Her eyes arenât glowing, but her fists are curled and her teeth are bared.Â
She is one push away from becoming the second Maleficent.
âNo-no!â Chad puts his hands up. âWe werenât saying anything!â
âReally?â Evie gracefully stands, skirt swishing in her movement. âYou both seem to have a lot to say about one of us.â She may have been raised as a princess, but with a scowl on her face and arms folded, she is every bit as Isle as her friends and lovers.
Audrey rolls her eyes. âItâs just weird. He should cut it and you two, as his girlfriends or whatever, should tell him that!â
âUnless you like pretending like heâs your girlfriend too?â Chad offers. His tone isnât quite mocking. He says is curiously, suggestively, trying to get away from the heated stares.
âHis hair is fine.â Carlos snaps, slamming his physics book shut. âHe likes it, we like it, so buzz off!â
âHow can you like it?â The princess scoffs. âDo you like him looking like a girl?â She eyes Carlos with thinly veiled disgust. âYou like being the only guy in your little group?â
âAlright, trashmouth. Zip it orâŠâ Mal allows her eyes to flash, âthe rest of this conversation wonât involve much talking.â
Audrey blanches at the green glow and takes a step back.
âOh, relax,â Evie sings and twirls a strand between her fingers. âWe wonât hurt you. Much.â
âI donât know. I think I could take Charming in a fight.â Carlos steps closer, eyeing the boy who is half a foot taller than him, but shrinks back immediately.
âYou kn-know what? We, uh, gotta r-run. Bye guys!â Chad grabs Audreyâs hand, who follows eagerly.
âFucking assholes,â Mal spits. âHow dare they?â
Jay yawns, still stretched on the couch. âRelax, guys. Theyâre just a douche bag and a bitch, you donât need to get so wound up over their words.â
Mal and Carlos sputter over his indifference, but Evie holds up a finger to them. Her lip quivers in a pout and she whimpers, âit just made me so mad when Audrey called Carlos stupid!â
âShe said what?â
Evie smiles and pushes Jay back down into his seat. âRelax,â she teases, âtheyâre just words!â She kisses his temple. âEasy, Audrey didnât say anything about any of us,â Evie gestures to herself and Mal and Carlos. âBut my point stands: we canât just lay back when youâre being insulted.â
âWhat kind of girlfriends would we be if we didnât defend your honor?â Mal cocks her hip and smirks, settling back down into her seat. âBesides, if it got Carlos riled up, it was too much.â
Jay exhales slowly, relieved at hearing his boyfriend and girlfriends werenât disrespected. He grins and grabs for the younger boyâs hand. âYou were gonna swing at Charming for me?â
âWellâŠI hoped it wouldnât come to that,â Carlos scuffs his shoes. âBut yeah. Of course I would have. I like you.â He flushes when Jay kisses his knuckles. âAnd your hair too.â
âWeâve got your back, Jay.â Mal promises. âJust like you always have ours.â
Hey! Idk if ur taking requests right now but whenever you are how about a poly!cour four where someone picks on or messes with Evie and she tries to hide it because she doesn't really care but the other 3 find out.
I am always open for requests! (I think my askbox says that, maybe?) I just do not take anonymous requests anymore.
Enjoy!
âYour mom was really mad today,â Carlos whispers as they lay on their sides in his tree house. âAre you okay?â
Evie strokes her thumb over the back of his hand and kisses his knuckles. âSheâs no Cruella, Iâll survive.â
âI could hear her from my room though. What happened?â
Their hushed conversation has drawn the attention of Mal and Jay, huddled in their own corner with a blanket.
Evie flushes from their stares. âMy dress was ruined, thatâs all. Mother saw it freaked out about it. Weâre going over ladylike mannerisms again tomorrow morning.â She groans, already frustrated with the lessons she knows by heart but still can never get perfect.
âThe blue and black one?â Jay mumbles, one arm over Malâs shoulders. âYouâre a total babe in that dress. I was distracted all day.â He waggles his brows at her and Evie giggles. âIt looked fine to me.â
âIt was fine until I went to the marketplace and Uma was a complete asshole.â Evie grits her teeth in the dark, then forces herself to stop when the echo of her motherâs voice critiques her smile again.
âUma?â Mal pushes away from Jay and crawls over to the little bed Carlos and Evie are sharing. âWhat did she do?â
âOh M,â Evie sighs. âDonât get so worked up. Itâs nothing.â
Carlos squeezes her hand and draws her gaze back to him. âThat doesnât sound like nothing. What did she do?â His tone is unlike his usual soft voice, hardened and almost demanding.
Itâs so not the time, but Evie finds his tone a little hot. Her Carlos is growing from a twitchy boy to a confident man and it thrills her.
âShe shoved me around and my dress got torn,â Evie breathes. âSo donât make a-.â
âShe what?â
Evie glances up from Carlosâ face to Mal, sitting on her heels, scowl set in place. Even though she has seen Mal with adorable bed head and her purple polka dot underwear, Evie still shakes. âShe, uh, well, sheâŠâ Evie hangs her head in shame, cursing her graceless words.
âHey, Evie,â Carlos murmurs to her and presses their foreheads together, ârelax. Weâre not mad.â He looks over his shoulder to Mal. ââŠRight?â
Mal closes her eyes and exhales slowly. âIâm not mad at you, E, of course not,â she huffs. âJust Uma for being a world class bitch.â
âWhy is she fucking with you?â Jay asks and shuffles to sit by her head, letting her lay in his lap comfortably. âI get Mal - no offense - but why you?â
âSheâs mad that Iâm with you guys.â Evie closes her eyes as Jay combs back her hair. âYou know, sheâs mad that I joined Malâs crew.â
âHow long has she been targeting you?â
Evie opens her eyes to look at Carlos. Itâs harder to see now that the sun has set, but she can make out all of his freckles from how close they lay together. âA couple of weeks.â
âWhy didnât you say anything?â Mal snaps, curling her fingers against the wood of the tree house. âHow many weeks?â
âI donât know.â Evie huddles further into Jay. âItâs nothing I canât handle. Iâm not a stupid princess who canât-.â
All three of them cut her off with various cries.
âNo one thinks youâre stupid!â
âYouâre a genius with chemistry!â
âDid Uma call you stupid?â
Evie feels her face burn under their praise and outcry for her. Pink cheeks clash horribly with blue, sheâs thankful for the dark. âNo, I just donât want you guys to think that.â
âWe donât!â
âNever!â
âThatâs what youâre worried about?â Mal scoffs, but she reaches over Carlos to stroke Evieâs face in a rare moment of tenderness. âE, we know youâre more than a princess. Youâre brilliant and wicked and you can hold your own in a fight.â
âYeah, Eves,â Jay chuckles as he twists a lock of blue hair in his fingers, âyou even kick my ass some days.â
âWe look out for each other,â Carlos says as he kisses her knuckles again, âweâre a team, united. If someone messes with you, they mess with all of us.â
Evie kisses his hand in return and turns to press a kiss to Jayâs leg. âYou three,â she breathes, looking up at Mal, âare the best thing thatâs ever happened to me.â
Can you do that poly dating thing in auradon with the core four but someones picking on carlos?
Tumblr has a new update where asks now have dates attached to them and this ask has been in my inbox for almost two and a half years. Whoops!
I've done a poly core four with Evie being picked on and a poly core four with Jay being picked on, but I haven't done Carlos yet or Mal! (I don't think I've done Mal. It may have gotten lost in all the Descendants things I've written in the last 5 years).
Enjoy!

Contrary to popular belief, Mal does not drop everything she is doing any time a member of her crew gets picked on, neither does Jay or Evie (though it's less expected of her). They're all Isle kids, making enemies is part of the fun and they can handle some mean words and a scrappy fight. Especially Carlos, who has faced so much worse shit in his life. None of them need one of these others to come rushing in unless some jackass pulls a knife.
But they've only been in Auradon for a few weeks and Mal has been dying to stake her claim. This seems as good an excuse as any.
Plus, the hallway is lined with Auradon brats, all standing off to the side, some snickering, some scoffing in disapproval, but none of them doing a damn thing.
Two tourney jocks, evident by the jackets they wear with pride, are holding Carlos' books and backpack above his head. Carlos is so agonizingly small next to them, but he's a scrappy fighter and could retrieve his belonging easily, if he were to want to create more of a scene.
It's a good thing Mal and Jay don't care about scenes.
"Hey dipshits!" Mal snarls above the taunting. Students part for her in fear, how exhilarating. "Those don't belong to you. I thought stealing wasn't a problem in Auradon?"
Beside her, arms flexing, Jay tsks. "Sounds like you two should be banished to the Isle."
Evie with her lips pulled back in a feral smile chimes in. "We would appreciate it if you returned Carlos' school supplies to him."
The jocks grin at each other. "What, little man here has to have someone come fight his battles for him?"
"Like the runt of the litter." The other one agrees with a cackle and unzips Carlos' school bag, letting his papers fly out and his pencils clatter to the ground.
Normally, Carlos would have a meltdown at the total disrespect to his homework, but he does nothing more than scowl.
This has been going on for more than just a day.
Mal stalks forward and snatches the front of the jacket of Dumbass One. She pulls him down to her height easily and notes the flick of fear in his eyes. "Leave him alone."
Dumbass One drops the bag at her feet and jerks away, stumbling backwards into a small crowd of watching students.
Evie wastes no time in approaching Dumbass Two and stomping her heel into his toes without a word. He howls in pain, books dropping from his hands as he clutches his foot.
Mal is prepared to tell these idiots to pick up the books, but Carlos is already doing so, hiding them in his arms like they're something precious because, to Carlos, they are.
All Jay has to do is take a step forward, strong and silent behind Mal and the Dumbasses scoff.
"Whatever." Dumbass Two says as he gingerly places his foot down. "Little runt isn't worth the time."
Dumbass One takes a look at Mal's wicked grin before he follows his limping friend.
The crowd has grown considerably. These Auradon kids are probably starved for entertainment. But it's good. Enough students saw that the word will get out to now fuck with Mal's crew. The whispers and points just reaffirm that everyone will know about this before the day ends.
"Come on, pup." Jay stands as he collects the scattered papers and shoves them into Carlos' bag. "Let's get back to the dorm."
Mal waves to the lingering students and Evie blows them all a kiss.
"You could have just let that go." Carlos huffs as they walk, still cradling his books. "It was all work I already turned in and got back. I didn't even need the notes." He rolls his eyes. "The classes here are so elementary."
"Auradon is different than the Isle." Mal tells them as they round the corner to the boys' room. "People here don't realize that we're a gang. They think one of us is fair game from the others."
"They won't think that anymore." Jay snickers as he holds the door open for everyone.
Evie makes herself comfortable on the bed and smooths out her skirt. "Besides, their random nastiness shouldn't go unpunished. Why were they messing with you anyway?"
"They're in my math class. I got the highest score on our test and they're mad about it." Carlos shrugs it off easily as he puts away his books. "They're idiots."
"Dumbasses." Mal agrees with a smirk. "But now they know. You don't get to fuck with any of the Isle kids."
"Not without incurring the wrath of the others." Evie chirps.
"Or without some broken toes." Jay waggles his eyes at Evie as he sits next to her. "That was definitely hot to watch."
Carlos can't hide his grin at them. "I didn't need it though."
"Not this time." Mal extends her hand to him and let's him decide if he wants to hold it. "But if we stayed silent, this would have happened again. We're not going to wait and find out if these Auradon kids are as weak as they seem."
"And we're not going to let them think we're not a crew." Evie tells them both as she playfully swats at Jay's kisses. "They know we're a team and you can't mess with any of us."
"Well..." Carlos puts a finger to his chin. "I guess that's a good point. So," he grins slowly at Mal, finally reaching for her hand. "Thank you."
Mal kisses his scarred knuckles. "Of course, pup."
Are we not going to talk about the fact the SON OF JAFAR has asked someone to go see a whole new world?Â
an endless list of my favorite female characters â evie grimhilde (descendants)
Weâre always going to be the kids from the isle. I tried to forget it. I really tried, but those are our roots. And we all did what we had to do to survive. But it made us who we are. And weâre never gonna be like anybody else here, and thatâs okay.Â
"We were supposed to just steal this! Why are we trying to rescue him?!" (This would be such a fun prompt for Jay, Mal, and Evie breaking into Hell Hall to steal from Cruella and somehow finding themselves rescuing/stealing Carlos from her instead.) đ
Finally getting this one done @hersilentlanguage! Your idea was so cute, I really wanted to be able to do it some justice. I hope you like it!đ„°đ„°
ââ
âJasper! Horace! Move faster, you imbeciles!â
Evie can feel her lungs exploding for air. Sheâs never run so quickly in her life, and yet it still doesnât feel like she can move fast enough. The clambering of heavy boots behind them is deafening, and itâs getting louder with each passing second, ringing in her ears almost as loud as the pounding of her heart.
âMal! Jay! Hurry!! The window we came inâs right over there!â
Evie points her finger frantically, only to have it tugged down by Mal, who yanks her firmly in the opposite direction.
âThatâs not gonna work anymore, Princess! Weâll have to go with plan B.â
âPlan B?? What the hell is that??â Evie shrieks. Her brain is scattered and her mind is frantic with the need to escape, terrified with the thought of what might happen if Cruellaâs goons get their hands on them. But Mal looks calm and focused, so Evie turns her attention on her to try to soothe her fears.
âYou idiots!! Cut them off at the pass! If you let them get away, it will be your heads! They canât have my babies!!â
The babies Cruella is referring to, of course, being the two full length chinchilla furs draped across Malâs other arm as they run. Mal lets out a dry chuckle at Cruellaâs words, and Evie immediately knows why. The irony is not lost on any of them.
âYouâd think sheâd give a fuck about her actual baby.â Mal mutters, casting a glance behind her.
Evie follows her gaze and locks eyes with Jay. The normally swift thief is trailing behind a little, his breathing more labored than usual due to his cargo. The smaller boy is curled comfortably in Jayâs arms, his white curls tickling Jayâs chin as he loops his hands behind his neck to help support his weight.
Mal shakes her head at Jayâs lagging. âWe were just supposed to steal this!â She shouts at him while waving the furs. âWhy are we trying to rescue him??â
But her question goes unanswered, and Mal seems unfazed. But Evieâs sure she wasnât expecting a proper response anyway. She knows as well as Mal that none of them would have turned a blind eye to the injured boy as soon as they found him on the coat closet floor, nearly unconscious in a pool of his own blood. Jay had scooped him up without a word, and they all knew without saying that their plans for the evening had changed to include Carlos in whatever way he needed them.
The front door comes into view as they turn the next corner, and Evie leaps ahead to grab the handle, using every ounce of strength she can muster to heave the heavy wood open just enough to snake their way through. She loops around quickly as soon as Jay passes with Carlos, turning the momentum back around to swing it behind them.
âOy! Yer not gettinâ away like that! Câmere you-â
Evieâs breath hitches when fingers curl around the door and she feels the pull of resistance. With a final gasp, she yanks back forcefully, prompting a yelp and hasty retreat from the fingers on the other side.
âEves! Move it!â
Without a second glance at Hell Hall, Evie whips around to continue running, following behind Mal and Jay at a heightened pace, not one of them stopping to catch their breath until they were safely secured in the hideout only minutes later.
Evie flips onto one side of the couch, leaving room for Jay to carefully lay Carlos down. Itâs only then, in the dim lighting of the hideout, that they can actually make out the blood seeping through Carlosâ shorts and t-shirt. Jay clenches his jaw tightly as he looks over Carlosâ wounds, only grunting his anger momentarily before leaving the room.
âItâs ok Carlos, Jay will get you cleaned up,â Evie assures him, reaching to squeeze his shoulder lightly.
Mal keeps her eyes on Carlos as she flops the furs onto the table, stepping forward and crouching down until sheâs eye level with the quiet, shivering boy.
âAs far as Iâm concerned, you never have to see that bitch again, got it?â
She tucks a few sweaty curls behind Carlosâ ear as she waits for him to respond. He open his mouth for a moment, but only to let out a shuddered sigh. He nods weakly though, and Mal quirks a smile at his acceptance.
âAtta boy. Weâve got you now, pup. Youâll always be safe with us.â
Feel free to send me a Descendants drabble request from this list - Iâll write any ship! I really need to garner some motivation for my WIPs đ
jaylos! i like the idea of like a mafia au where carlos is the sign of the infamous Cruella de veil who's known for being just as wicked as her partner maleficent but even more cruel when it comes to what she wants. Jay is the son of the rival Mob in town and they have something cruella wants really badly. so bad that she's willing to trade her only son for it. and map is like carlos's sister and vice versa jay and evie and auradon kids are like the cops !!
Malâs hand slips from his shoulder, her fingers trailing down his arm and leaving goosebumps in its wake. âIt should have been me.â Her voice is so soft, Carlos almost misses her words. âIf I wasnât such a stubborn bitch,â she hisses the word, as if finally viewing it as the insult it was intended to be instead of the compliment she pretended it was, âthey would have picked me to go. Not you.â
âI wouldnât have wanted you to go,â Carlos murmurs, drawing his knees up to his chest and hiding his face. âIâd rather they trade me off than you.â
âWell I donât.â Mal huffs. She sits back, not touching him, but closer than she would sit to anyone else. âI could survive better.â
The one and only thing heâll miss from this town is sitting beside him and Carlos canât bring himself to look at her. As fucked up as their parents were, he and Mal were considerably less so. Probably because of each other. Having been thrown together so young by mothers who didnât care for them allowed the two to connect and bond tightly. Mal had always looked out for him, at school, on the streets, in his home. He had done the same for her, building her up when Maleficient put her down and snarling at any boy or girl who tried to touch her.
Carlos wonât miss Cruella. Or Maleficient. The gruff business men, the shitty house, the beatings, walking on eggshells around everyone at anytime. (Though, most of that can follow him to his new life, Carlos supposes. A rival gang is still a gang.) But he will miss Mal. Heâll miss her terribly. Not the protection she offered him, but just her. The single person who has ever cared for him and who he has ever cared for sits silently, trying to offer a language neither of them spoke: comfort.
âIâll survive.â
âPromise?â
Itâs not fair to end with Mal on a lie. Granted, nothing about this situation is fair, but itâs not her fault. Mal doesnât deserved to be lied to, especially not by him. He canât leave guaranteeing her that heâll survive (partly because they both know you canât guarantee that in this life), but Carlos canât leave letting her worry about him either. If he leaves Mal distracted, he leaves her vulnerable and if he leaves her vulnerable, he leaves her dead.
So Carlos just stays quiet.
â
On the other side of town, Evie does the opposite.
âA person, Jay, a person, weâve never done anything that screwed up before! This is slavery.â
Still in shock himself at the news his father had given him, it takes Jay a moment to realize Evie is speaking to him. âNot exactly. But, kind of.â Evie stares at him. âHeâll probably be treated better here. Like, a lot better.â
âItâs not hard to be better than a woman who sells her own son for permission to send her goons to hunt on our grounds!â She growls in annoyance.
But Jay nods. âThatâs exactly how your mom saw it.â Evie stops pacing once more. âMy dad was going to turn the offer down, but EQ said that we shouldnât leave him to Cruella.â
âMother encouraged this?â
Jay shrugs. âShe wanted to save him, I think. Besides, itâs not like Cruella will get anything off of our territory. She thinks there are dogs hiding around the city somewhere, she thinks theyâre all over here hiding from her. Even if we told her the truth, she would still insist they were here.â Jay bites the inside of his cheek and wonders if that makes the situation worse. If Cruellaâs not getting anything out of this deal, they didnât really buy her son. They got him for free, really. Cruella might think sheâs trading her son, but really, sheâs just giving him up. âYou should have seen her, Eves. She was fucking crazy.â
âItâs stillâŠâ Evie falters. âWe bought someone, Jay. A person. Your father gave him to you. Heâs being treated like a possession.â Evie visibly shudders. Itâs not the first time someone in their gang was objectified and the idea struck a chord in her.
âCome here, sit.â Jay pats his bed and she follows. âHeâs not going to be my possession, Eves. Iâm not going to hurt him, Iâm not going to treat him poorly. You would kick my ass if I did,â he nudges her shoulder and she smiles softly. âWeâre offering him a better life, hopefully. I donât think we can be worse than Cruella.â
Her smile fades. âIt just doesnât feel right.â
â
Maleficent offers to see him off and Carlos is more terrified of that than being sold to another gang. Mal may be his favorite person, but sheâs also crazy and violent and fearless and thatâs all because of her mother, the same woman who has her hand on his shoulder, clawing through his shirt to draw blood.
Her daughter isnât present to watch him. Maybe because her mother forbade it or maybe because if Mal was there, she wouldnât have let Carlos leave. Regardless, Carlos says a silent goodbye to her.
âCruella is off organizing some hunting party,â Maleficent sneers to the driver of a car as nice as Cruellaâs own. âBut here he is, all in good condition.â Her nails dig in deeper, but the pain is familiar enough to be comforting in some fucked up way. âSo if he gets dinged up in a few weeks, thatâll be the fault of Jafar and his son. Donât try to back out of your deal.â
Momentarily, Carlos wonders if Maleficent and his mother have a friendship similar to he and Mal. They worked together, lived together, did deals together. But looking at how both treated their children, Carlos doesnât think itâs possible. Maleficent is probably trying to prevent a future annoyance rather than protect a deal for the sake of Cruellaâs happiness.
He reaches for the handle, but the claws donât release his skin. âWe told them you were a good boy,â she says into his ear, her voice a hybrid of a whisper and a hiss. âWe wonât have any complaints about you, will we?â Carlos is already shaking all over from her proximity, but manages to get his head shake across. âGood. Because if we canât punish you, Iâm sure Mal can be an excellent substitute.â
His shaking stops, Carlos is completely rigid. âNo.â His voice is firmer than he expected it to be. He wonât be weak when it comes to Mal. Not even in front of Maleficent. âLeave her alone. Iâll be good.â
Maleficent releases his skin, torn and bloody, and shoves him into the car. He sits across from two big men with another one right at his side. Each has a serpent patch on their right breast pocket. They give him a single glance and canât see to spare anything more for him, turning to each other and discussing something that he tunes out. Carlos doesnât relax, but he breathes easily. These guys arenât interested in him. That could change once he meets Jafar and his son, but for right now, heâs okay.
He watches the scenery, familiar alleys and clubs, fade away. Territories between gangs had estimated boundaries, there were no set lines. But he had never been so far, even when Mal was with him. It was too dangerous to risk crossing into another gangâs area. Yet here he is, sitting in a car with strangers to venture into Who The Hell Knows in the middle of enemy property.
Fuck.
Carlos stays quiet the whole ride and none of the men look at him, which is exactly how he likes it. The ride ends too soon though, and the building in front of him is huge, gorgeous even. Cruella and Maleficent kept their home run down and dilapidated, to throw off police and thieves alike, but the inside was nice and furnished. Either The Cobras were stupid enough to flaunt their wealth and success or they were powerful enough to believe no one would enter their property.
Really, Carlos doesnât know as much as he should about gangs. Especially since his mother runs one. But Cruella and Maleficent had mutually decided that Mal should take over one day and Carlos was more than happy with that. He didnât like drugs, not after seeing what they did to his mother, and he didnât like violence, not after seeingâŠwell, seeing his mother in general. He may be a petty thief and followed after Mal for some property damage, but the criminal life isnât for him.
But between being a criminal and being someoneâs property, Carlos doesnât know which he would take anymore.
He debates bolting, but Maleficentâs words ring in his ears, so he follows obediently. Thatâs how everyone seems to like him.
âShit,â one of the men curses. His voice isnât familiar, so it must be the driver. âWeâre leaking oil.â He sneers at the stains on the ground, but leads the group into the building.
The inside is as luxurious as the front and Carlos gazes in awe. Part of it is genuine, another part is casually taking in his surroundings without suspicion. A scent of garlic is heavy to the right, so the kitchen must be down that way and kitchens usually had exits to right outside in case of fires. Two grand staircases on either side of him meet at the top in spacious landing where a boy with long black hair stands beside a man who looks like a meaner, older version of him. Both of their eyes are on him and Carlos gulps. He know who these two are: Jafar and his son. Is it disrespectful to break eye contact? Should heâŠbow or something? What is he suppose to say?
Carlos realizes, far too late to save any himself from any embarrassment, that his mouth is opening and closing in uncertainty. He snaps his mouth shut and feels a terrible flush covering his cheeks and the back of his neck. Has he already fucked up?
Jafar rolls his eyes but his son, still watching Carlos, smiles and laughs.

Sky High AU

Everyone dreaded the day Jay would manifest his powers. Some believed heâd grow into superhuman strength even his build. Others believed heâd gain something far more magical. They were right. The day Jay blew up on Chad Charming for aggravating him, he literally blew up. His body engulfed in flames, turning his long black hair into red hot fire. The heat emanating from his hands almost scorched poor Chad and half the school. Everyone feared for their lives after that.
Evieâs power manifested itself much more subtly. As the girl had chosen to rarely talk, no one was quite too sure what her power was. Grimhilde feared Evie was born powerless and therefore useless to her. She showed everyone her true power when Harry Hook tugged far too harshly on her braid. A sweet smile appeared on her lips and in the most sugary sweet tone she politely asked him to walk off the deck. He had laughed until his body stood rim rod straight before he turned and did just that. After they fished him out of the waters, everyone learned Evieâs true reason for never talking was her ability of persuasion. Evie learns to control her voice and she is able to finally speak without accidentally demanding someone into action with just her words.Â
They first meet on their first day at Sky High. Jay is showing off to Audrey, Jane, Lonnie, Uma and Jordan, Carlos at his side cheering him on as the girls are in a mixed state of impressed, entertained and un-phased. He gets too into his showing off and a flame gets away from him, singeing the end of Evieâs dress as she walks by. He tries to laugh it off, being the only one to not show a visible sign of fear over the girlâs appearance. Evie smiles her sweet smile and promptly asks him to walk into a pole in her sugary sweet tone. Heâs confused when he gains control of himself once more, head hurting, but he silently declares war.Â
By the end of the day, everyone knows to avoid the two when they interact. Jay overheats doorknobs to keep the girl trapped in a room, making sure she is late to her classes. Evie ensures that heâs worn his lunch rather than actually eat another. Her locker door was welded shut. And Jay ends the day with a black eye when Evie sweetly asked Gil to punch him for her.Â
Despite how often she had resorted to her powers the first day, Jay learns she prefers not to use it unless she has too. She favors her chem classes and concocting all sorts of potions and spells in the labs. He canât decide if heâd rather have her use her voice of persuasion or the potions.Â
Unfortunately for Evie, Jay is in her Chem class for the year. He nudges Carlos to watch and causes the flame beneath her potion to overheat it. Evie shrieks and tries to turn the heat down, but the damage is done. Jay darts out of the room just before the beaker explodes and a dark purple cloud fills the room. The class just makes it out the room only to discover they are covered in boils. All eyes turn to Evie, who tries to apologize before her eyes turn dangerously towards Jay. Heâs gone before she can try to say a word to him.
Evie already has something in mind to retaliate. With Umaâs help, she sneaks into Jayâs locker, sprinkling a little powder into the body wash he uses after gym class. His skin turns blue for a week. Heâs heard more variations of âBlue Da Ba Deeâ sang at him then he ever cared for and if one more person calls him BlueJay, heâll set them on fire. Why couldnât she have at least turned him red?
Fearing that their ongoing feud could lead them towards a path much like their parents, Evie and Jay are sent to Warren Peace and Layla Williams respectively for a talk.
Evie admits to Warren that Jay gets under her skin far quicker than most and she fully explains why she continues to lower herself to his standards when she knows she wants to be a hero and would never dare using her powers for evil. Warren just laughs and teases her for being far smarter than others while simultaneously not being able to see the obvious reason to her actions.
Jay, on the other hand, doesnât open up right away, but Layla patiently waits and the son of Jafar finally caves. He admits that he continues to bother Evie because he might like her⊠Okay, he definitely likes her: the bluenette has spunk and doesnât take any of his crap, standing on her own against him. Layla then points out what heâs doing is a far more aggressive game of âpulling the girls pigtails because you like herâ and âthat is not the way to show a girl your affectionâ.Â
He takes some of Laylaâs advice to heart and tries to figure out just how he can show Evie he likes her: simply asking her out seems too simple for a sophisticated girl like her. But heâs forgotten that heâd burnt her favorite book that morning and the feisty blue haired teen is marching up to him, waving the burnt shell of her book angerly at him. She opens her month when sheâs just an arm-length away and Jay does the first thing that comes to mind. He kisses her.Â
Evie freezes, pushing him away once her senses come back to her. Everyone around them whisper harshly, concerned about Jayâs safety (and his sanity). She raises a hand as though to slap him, but she doesnât, her hand frozen in place and eyes narrowed in confusion.
âWhy? I thought you hated me?â
âNot really. I may actually like you.â Jayâs light chuckle surprise them both and he smiles that signature smirk of his while she finally closes her gaping mouth to smile back at him tentatively. âSorry that I kissed you, but you really donât have to use that voice of yours to get me to do anything. All you have to do is ask.â
âDo it again?â
Jay doesnât have to be told twice.
BONUS: They graduate as the inseparable duo known as Syren and Ares, proving to the world that a power does not dictate the role they play in life.Â
1. Moments before Mal makes a PB & Jaylos sandwich.
2. Jay says #carvierights by any means necessary.
3. You canât PROVE Carlos knows these two idiots.
4. Mal captures ALL of her bragging rights in one snap.
5. Carlos vainly attempts to rescue Evie (and only Evie).
6. Mal is bad at feelings. Jayvie is bad at hiding feelings.
Here's a concept I was talking with my friend about earlier: baby Mal's hair is long and thick and I imagine she wouldn't like brushing it very much, but Maleficent doesn't do it for her, either. So imagine baby Carlos, who is used to brushing his mother's hair and is therefore good at it, brushing it for her. :)
Ahhhhh, YESSSS. â„â„â„ I love this concept. Thatâs soft as heck. I adopt this as a headcanon. And going off this, just imagine, like... once they get to Auradon, Evie would probably help Mal out with her hair since theyâre sharing a dorm, which Mal doesnât think twice about because she figures Carlos only ever did it because he was afraid of her on the Isle and she doesnât want to treat him like a servant or anything.
But Carlos is low-key sad about the fact that she doesnât ask him to do it anymore, and he canât instigate since her hair is always nicely done by the time she leaves the dorm room in the morning. And neither of them are gonna bring it up until one day Evieâs sick enough that she has to stay in bed and miss class, so Mal runs out with her hair all a mess and Carlos sees her and just immediately starts brushing through it with his fingers âcause he doesnât even have a comb and he doesnât expect Mal to be carrying one.
Evieâs always sneaking combs into Malâs purse though, so Mal remembers that and pulls one out and hands it to Carlos, but just before he can take it, sheâs like, âWait, wait, what are you doing? You know I can just do it myself, right?â And heâs like, âOh... well, yeah... I mean, if you donât want me to...â
Anyway, Jay steps in because heâs like, âWow, you two are insufferable,â and he points out that Carlos is always brushing his hair, and he certainly didnât ask him to do that, nor did Carlos ask if he could. He just picked up a brush one day and Jay was like, âWell, I definitely donât hate this. Please continue.â
They totally end up having a sleepover where the four of them sit in a circle and do each otherâs hair. But Jayâs really bad at it so heâs only allowed to give head massages haha. Mal is a hair brushing apprentice. She mostly practices on Jay because Evie somehow manages to win every single game of rock, paper, scissors with Jay about who gets to risk split ends. Heâs very suspicious sheâs using her magic to win, but he canât prove anything, so... heâs the guinea pig. ;)
