Ever wondered who’s behind all the cool clothes, furniture and islands in ourWorld? We talked to some of our amazing designers about what they do as professional artists for ourWorld!
Some of our artists have been here since the beginning, crafting every cool place you can visit in ourWorld. It’s obvious when speaking to our artists that they love what they do. Their art – the clothes, furniture, enchantments, and more – is the backbone of ourWorld.
When asked what the most interesting thing about their job was, here’s what the artists had to say:
“If I come up with something, 9 times out of 10 it becomes an item in the game. You can pretty much create whatever you want, even if it’s nonsense.”
“My favorite thing to do is test the limits of the system and see if I can put cool animations into the furniture, and take it past dull pieces and make it into cool interactive objects.”
“Working as a team of artists is awesome because we can bounce ideas off each other, and feedback from other artists is really helpful. We make each other stronger.”
Working with the other artists is an important part of the process when working on ourWorld. There is a constant back and forth creative process between all six artists, and that factors into how they come up with ideas for cool new items.
Coming up with ideas for ourWorld might seem like a complicated process but most of the artists draw their ideas from popular culture. Pop culture is a huge inspiration to the artists, who all agree that one of their largest inspirations is Japanese fashion and anime.
“Sometimes we see kids saying ‘Oh, this new item got released and now I can cosplay as this character!’ That’s usually on purpose, our inspiration probably came from the character they’re cosplaying.”
Popular culture isn’t just the artist’s inspiration for right now. It’s been their source of ideas for a long time, even inspiring some of them to be interested in art.
“I knew I wanted to be an artist when I was little and watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame. There was this cool scene, and I wanted to create art like that.”
“Video games were definitely a huge influence.”
The artists left us with a couple of final thoughts. They work hard to make ourWorld a cool place with amazing art for you to enjoy, and they love hearing your feedback. Your comments and suggestions help make ourWorld even better!
