"Yes, by me. And every man and woman that gets a decent look at you."
"Oh, please, daughter, I thought you knew me more than this. Do you really think that their opinions about my life can touch me so deep? No, I don’t care if they think that your uncle was the most loved brother or if I wasn’t born to be King—they’re fools. And you know what I do with fools.”
"Yeah, that’s right. You know, at first I didn’t like to have you around, but now I see you’re a good company. You have my fire inside you, child. If you want… i can teach you everything I know, my tricks, my secrets… after all, every King needs their heir."
"I never would have guessed. I'm only a link to a life you ran from and a woman you used to pop out heirs." And as a lioness she was not the heir he wanted. But this world was different, and he was out of options. Her elder brother was a sniveling, weak fool and her younger brother wanted nothing to do with their father. She was ready and willing to be her father's daughter, however. "An heir you shall have."
"Mmmm yes. Disgusting is what it is. More unworthy blood sitting atop the throne."
"That monkey must be getting old. Perhaps he'll slip up and drop this one when they wave it over the thrown."
"Ugh, my nephew had another bouncing baby brat. Didn’t he learn from the last two?"
"Another?"

"What? Killing the fools or being the father you need?"
"Killing them. My father raised me never to need anyone."

Taka noticed her physical features and that’s why he was doubting of her being a lioness, but well, after all he wasn’t blonde-maned as his brother, he was different and certainly not liked. In fact, the only two that didn’t think he was some kind of a… mistake, were his mother Uru and Sarabi, but the second one was already promised to the oldest of the princes. Taka stood up and kept his guitar in the case. “Yeah, that’s what makes it awesome” he said grinning as well. “Just let me go and keep my guitar with a friend and I’ll meet you in a couple of seconds” he said and without letting her speak another word, he just ran to a near tent of the market that was just closing and gave the guitar with a smile. The few friends Taka had were very good ones indeed. He came back running and took the hood off to run a hand through his hair. “Okay, then. Running or horses? We could steal a couple from the guards of the entrance”.
She liked him a great deal. It was rare, no, unheard of to meet someone with such a sense of adventure. Although she half expected him to hide when he left to stow his guitar. She wouldn't put it past anyone to hide away and watch, waiting to see how long she would stand and wait. But he returned, very quickly might she add. She smiled warmly upon his return. "Horses are difficult when traveling to new territory. We are running." She took his hand in hers and began to run. Given, she had no idea what she was doing. No idea she had just grabbed the hand of royalty and was dragging it away.

Taka stayed quiet for a moment wondering if his lie was believable. Well, it seemed it caused effect, but she didn’t look convinced. For now this would work, though and the next time he had to be more careful with his words. “Ah… a fierce girl, that’s magnificent” he commented with a smile. Taka was someone who enjoyed having adventures and being a mischievous cub and this time wasn’t going to be different. “Hey, Zira… do you know a place beyond the Outlands called… the Oasis? I’ve heard that was the place that King Mohatu found water after days and days of walking in the desert! Y’know… it’s a dangerous trip but it’s worth it”. It was obvious what he was suggesting, no more words were needed.
She might need to work on her naivety, though she said not a word he seemed to tense, as if he knew that she didn't quite buy into his words. It looked as if they would both have to work on their war faces. "Why thank you." She grinned once more. It wasn't often Zira was complimented. Her dark hair and dark eyes made her very different from the other lionesses, making her a bit of an outcast. "I've heard the story." She nodded as the teen told her of the Oasis. Truth be told she had thought of venturing there on her own, but it seemed like quite a dangerous trip to make with no real purpose in mind. But if this boy was asking, that was purpose enough. "I've heard it's near suicidal to go alone."
You two should have run together and start a new pride.
"What a dream that would have been."
"Perhaps we'll have our chance."

Once he turned his attention to her the lioness couldn’t help but feel like she had seen him before. Often on her own she didn’t take much notice of the royals, or…anyone, really. She had probably just seen him in passing. That smile was bond to stick in her memory, even if it was from a simple glance across the streets. “I’m Zira.” She smiled, a rare expression for Zira. “And yours, good sir?”
"Zira…" he repeated, not like he had heard the name before, but he was quite absent-minded, Mufasa maybe knew, no, Mufasa always knew about these things; maybe he’d ask him later. “I’m… call me Kovu” and not like he was lying, taking in count that he was secretly learning to fight with Outlanders, he earned the nickname Kovu for all the scars he got in fights and of course, the scars he made on others. “Isn’t it a little late for a lady to be out?”
Call him? Zira keyed in on his choice of words, and his hesitation. Kovu wasn't his real name. He must have some reason to hide his true identity from her, and though curious she doubted it would work in her favor to call him out on such a thing. "Kovu it is then." He was the first thing to catch her interest in so long, there was no use scaring such a thing away by admitting she was on to his lies. "This lady can take care of herself." Her meek smile turned to a playful grin.
