some True Detective studies! one of my favorite shows of all time, I consider all seasons to be good (still have to watch season 4), but season 1 is… on another level. flawless. perfect. one can’t admire it enough

For this list I'm going for an almost academic horror primer. The goal is to cover the genre from its beginnings to modern day, touching...
Heya all! I'm putting together a horror movie primer that covers the directors, actors, themes, and stylistic shifts in horror cinema over the years! I'd love to get feedback on what I'm missing (I only included films that I've seen so there's a few obvious gaps like the 1930s Dracula and The Mummy) and hear what people think of what I have so far!
This is meant to be semi-academic which unfortunately means I had to leave out some all time favorites, and it also means that there's quite a few on here that I am glad I'll never have to watch again, but they were significant to the history so I feel they should be included.
I'm excited to see people's results and hear feedback! I'd love to discuss why films were or weren't included! And, to bait for notes, here's a survey:
How many have you seen?
