Ethan learn it was easier to be loved then feared. Something that his mother taught him. He knew that being harsh toward someone would get him nowhere in life. Plus he didnât see the point in being rude to someone. He was the type to stay to himself but could be a people person when needed. Which mostly explain why he wanted to help out the young woman. And it could be because of how beautiful she was. He never seen someone as stunning as Mariah. But of course, it wasnât the only reason that he decided to help her.
Ethan chewed on his bottom lip, thinking about her. Mostly the story that she told him. He could believe that she got shipwrecked and lost everything. But for some reason, it didnât sound right to him. It could be because he never heard someone go through that. Thatâs like 10 percent chance that, that could ever happen to someone. What he really couldnât understand is why she seem so calm when he saw her. He would have been freaking out while pacing along the boardwalk. Then again, most people act differently in different situations. He didnât have time to think about when he notice her come back into the living room.
He didnât mean to embarrass her with his comment. But it was true, she looked nice in his clothes. Even though, he was embarrass that he gave her such a comment. He nodded his head at her comment before standing up from the couch. âFollow me.â He told her as he walks toward his kitchen. He walks over to his fridge, opening it. Scanning over the items inside, the easiest thing he could make would be a sandwich. He could make her a whole meal but figured that could be for another day. âWould a sandwich be alright with you?â He ask glancing back at her.
She still couldn't get over the fact that he was being the complete opposite of how she usually was towards people. She didn't understand it. How could he just be so nice to her when there was no reason to do so? Unless he really wanted to do something to her, something that required him to be nice in the long run. She had heard stories about the people on the surface, how a lot of them were only after sexual pleasure and would do anything in their power to feel some satisfaction. Maybe he was one of those guys? But then again, nothing in the way he spoke to her or treated her made her think so.
So then what the hell did he want with her?
It was sad that she thought Ethan had some sort of ulterior motive for being nice to her, instead of just thinking that he was genuine in his emotions. It wasn't like she had any reason to think otherwise. This guy didn't know who she was, how powerful she really was where she was from. So it wouldn't be like he was after her kingdom or her authority. It was just how things worked where she was from, at least when she was involved. There was always an ulterior motive when it came to her, no matter who she was talking to. The only exception was probably her father, and that was because he was the only one she really truly loved and cared about.
Still thinking about the compliment he gave her, she followed him slowly into what she assumed was his version of a kitchen. It was much smaller than what she was used to back at home, but maybe it made sense that he would have a smaller one, especially if he was living by himself. He opened up something that looked like a white box, but it had food inside. Food she wasn't used to, but food nonetheless. It was interesting, and she tried not to show genuine surprise and wonder as he searched for something for the both of them to eat. "A sandwich sounds lovely. As long as you have one for yourself."
