You rolledโฆ Cloud Haetae, Prune Juice, and Baili!
Like all haetaes, Cloud Haetae's eyes can pierce through the thickest of fogs. Such a thing does not hinder their vision at all. They also have the power to conjure up dense clouds / fog and it's actually something they typically do when they transform as an extra measure. After all, it's not very nice to be attacked while in the middle of transforming! And of course, it's just generally useful against those who are truly blind in such a condition.
There's also a certain ability called "cloud walking" ( essentially walking in the air atop those self-made clouds ) that their kind was known to be able to do, but Cloud Haetae never properly learned how. And now... there are no more haetaes that can even teach them. They still secretly try and are fiercely determined to one day be able to do it and show it off to Mystic Flour. Long story short for all this, I take the "cloud" part of their name as a literal lineage clue. A very long time ago, it was thought that haetaes descended down from the heavens themselves. They are sacred beings.
I'm also considering making it an ability of theirs to be able to see past illusions too, but perhaps unlike the fog thing, it's not as much as an "inherited" trait and is instead more of a predispositioned one, and Cloud Haetae would actually have to focus on someone more closely to tell ( something that, again, their mother would have taught them, but maybe they're learning from Mystic Flour instead. ) I just think it goes along with the theme of haetae guardians, who in their mythology had the power to judge others and distinguish the innocent from the wicked.
There's a reason why Prune Juice primarily keeps his eyes hidden or closed. He has experienced... serve bullying in school from a very young age, and after an incident where a teacher made a specific comment about his eyes, some students who overheard the conversation discovered another way they could torment him. They would roughly grab a young Prune Juice's face and tell him the same thing he was told by that teacher: that he never had the sparkle of magic in his eyes to begin with.
Overall, Prune Juice was treated like a nuisance by teachers and students alike honestly... He's had rotten encounters with both. Some tried to be gentler with him, but in the end, their goal was shared โ to make him give up. Given his incapacity / inability to use magic, he just couldn't ever be taught and was taking up resources other students could use, etc.
As he grew older though, he's tried to invert this in a way at least. Because as we all know, you don't want to see Prune Juice open his eyes unless you're prepared for what it means when he does. His gaze is sharp and intense. It will pin you down. It is uncomfortable, and you will look at him and acknowledge his existence. There's a part of him that wants to see whatever pitiful expression is worn on your face now that the tables have turned, now that he's a threat in your eyes โ you shouldn't have taken him lightly or written him off so easily.
When he becomes truly uncomfortable or is being vulnerable though... he just can't maintain that eye contact anymore.
Baili / Rosy Scaled โ Horn
Baili lost part of her left horn in the "Great Conflict" while protecting their younger sibling, Tengshe. It doesn't particularly bother her. It is one of the few scars that have managed to actually stick around, though. The fact that she is scaled and naturally loses those scales, over enough time, most scars eventually shed away for Baili. Only the truly terrible ones manage to mar her permanently ( somewhere on her form there is a pattern that looks like shattered glass across her body โ center of its chest, mayhaps. ) She also has very hard, armor-like scales, so injuring her to begin with is a bit of a feat in and of itself. It's not as much a glass canon as she may look honestly โ you're facing a giant, diamond dragon essentially.
But also speaking more upon its scales! They're a very valuable resource and surprisingly lightweight. They can be made into armor, weapons, shields, etc. They also channel magic incredibly well. Baili would give them freely to the people of the gem kingdom before she sealed herself away to hold the cave's ceiling ( when they naturally couldn't do so anymore ), and more often than the above ( it was far more rare to do, honestly ), they'd largely be used to make precious jewelry and protective charms. Once it protects you from something though, it shatters.
