Remember when Battle Born first came out and we got to listen to it for the first time all the way through? The way the openers and closers were so huge? The way the album took turns throughout and changed sound, and the narrative it spun about life and livelihood? How Las Vegas became an even bigger character, preluded by previous albums? The joy of having such a long, multifaceted album to carry us through the desert and the drought? I love this album. If defined music and an era for me.
