Camilla and Hinoka again meet for what is ostensibly diplomacy, but as usual are trying to find a way to be alone together. That opportunity comes from the most unexpected source.
This is set at the same time as “The Moonlight Flower and Sunlight Priestess“.
While Elise went off to go find Sakura, Camilla climbed the stairs to the throne room. Camilla had come to enjoy these visits to Hoshido. The bridges over the bottomless canyon had been rebuilt for trade. There were paved roads on almost the entire route from Krakenburg to Shirasagi, and it would be the entire route by the time Hinoka next came to Nohr. Camilla was quite happy at this, and no doubt her lover was as well. It was starting to feel like there was the potential for their two countries to come together, something which would have seemed preposterous not two years ago.
Camilla arrived in the throne room, seeing Hinoka sitting regally on the throne, flanked by Azama and Setsuna, who appeared a bit less alert and a bit less optimistic than on Valentine's Day. Luckily, Camilla had far more interesting things to talk about today than she did then. Today the main topics of discussion were an open borders agreement and arrangements for Hoshidans who fought for Nohr to return to their home country. Camilla also hoped to discuss the status of Corrin and Azura, who still considered themselves princess of Hoshido as well as Nohr, but that wasn't as crucial. Of course, more than any of this Camilla hoped to spend some time alone with Hinoka and show the Queen just how much she was loved.
The talks proceeded smoothly, although Hinoka did blush at almost every one of Camilla's subtle flirtations. Almost everything was just as Camilla had hoped, and from the look on Hinoka's face, these weren't concessions to Nohr what Hinoka genuinely wanted. Azama was visibly hesitant though, and so was Setsuna, and Camilla could guess that the general populace would probably still have quite understandable reservations.
"There's two particular people I want to bring up," Camilla began. "And those would be our little sisters, Corrin and Azura," she continued, putting emphasis on "our", but sounding uncomfortable doing it. Even though Camilla knew Corrin and Azura still wanted to have a connection to Hoshido, she still felt a certain degree of possessiveness about them. While it had gotten better since the war, Camilla hadn't completely been able to abandon her competitiveness for them, even toward her lover.
Along with, or possibly on top of that, Camilla felt a little uneasy about the fact that she and her lover had two sisters in common. After all, your sister's sister is normally your sister. Even though that wasn't the case here, something about it felt wrong to Camilla.
Hinoka was thinking of what to say, given that this was something personal for her as well. However, everyone in the room was drawn out of their contemplation by Elise crying in pain.
Hinoka wasted no time. "Azama! Setsuna!" Hinoka called out. Her retainers immediately stood ready. "Find Princess Elise and ensure her safety!" Hinoka said. Her retainers were already running.
Camilla turned to follow them, but stopped when she heard Hinoka call her name. Camilla returned her attention to Hinoka, although with significantly less affection that she had just moments ago.
Hinoka saw Camilla's worry and anger clear on Nohrian's face. It was quite understandable. Elise might be in danger, and here Hinoka was trying to keep Camilla from helping. Hinoka had hoped to take advantage of their time alone, however brief it was, but Hinoka realized that was a mistake. She shouldn't have tried to use Elise's distress to spend time with Camilla.
Hinoka was about to tell Camilla to retrieve her axe, but then Setsuna came sprinting up the stairs. "Princess Elise's legs are bright red," Setsuna said, scarcely holding her composure. "Lady Sakura took Princess Elise to the apothecary storeroom, and Azama is looking for the person who did this!"
Hinoka's face went pale, but Camilla simply giggled. Setsuna and Hinoka both looked at Camilla with shock. How could she react like that when her sister had been injured?
Camilla looked at the window at the setting sun. "Elise isn't used to sunlight," Camilla said calmly. "The poor dear gets sunburned if she leaves Nohr. I brought her a parasol for this trip, but the sun shining through the window must have gotten to her."
Hinoka and Setsuna both calmed down. Princess Elise was safe, and was most likely getting along well with Sakura. The sun set on the now much calmer throne room, and Hinoka realized what an opportunity she'd messed up by trying to keep Camilla.
"Aw, aren't they cute?" Camilla said, still looking out the window. Hinoka and Setsuna both came to window to see what Camilla was referring to. They all saw Elise and Sakura sit down at the edge of the koi pond in the castle courtyard.
"Setsuna," Hinoka began, "Watch the courtyard with Azama."
Setsuna set off to find Azama. While they weren't the best retainers, they were still loyal enough that Hinoka could trust them. While it was annoying that Hinoka had to keep them occupied if she was going to do anything with Camilla, she still knew they had her best interests at heart.
When Setsuna's footsteps faded away, Hinoka faced Camilla, who was still watching the courtyard.
"Camilla," Hinoka said.
Camilla faced her lover, feeling better now that she knew Elise was safe, but still remember how she felt before.
"I'm sorry," Hinoka said, "I was so selfish, asking you to stay with me when your sister might have been in danger. I should have sent you rushing to her aid along with my retainers."
Camilla remained silent. "Look, I can understand if you want to call thing off. I'll have your wyvern and Elise's horse saddle-" Hinoka suddenly found she was unable to move her lips, most likely due to Camilla's.
Hinoka accepted the kiss readily, and embraced Camilla. Camilla returned Hinoka's embrace wholeheartedly. When the two finally parted, Camilla was first to speak.
"Dear, it would take a lot more than one little quarrel to split us apart," Camilla said. "Now, why don't you sit on the throne so I can kiss you there?"
Hinoka did as instructed, and quite happily received Camilla's kiss. Hinoka noticed Camilla smiling, but then noticed how empty the throne was with just the two of them there. Hinoka's expression soured.
"What's wrong dear?" Camilla asked.
"I wish we could kiss when there were other people here," Hinoka answered.
"Well, then we'll just have to make our countries get along better," Camilla said. "I think your selfishness could help with that," she added with a giggle.
Severa's still feeling a bit hurt after Lucina didn't get her anything for Valentine's day, but she doesn't know Lucina has a surprise for her.
I forgot to post this here yesterday. Oops.
Severa couldn't believe her eyes. Lucina, who had just come back from a battle in the arena, had drawn a large, ornately wrapped from her tunic. Severa had watched the battle intently, and not once did Severa even suspect Lucina might be carrying anything. Lucina's every movement showed no sign of burden, the princess was as graceful and agile as a well-practiced dancer.
Lucina held the box out to Severa. Severa took the box and undid the bow, which fell to the ground without a sound. Inside the box were the finest white chocolates money could buy, fit for a princess.
Severa was confused. Why was Lucina keeping this on her person? There was nothing special about today. While Lucina hadn't been able to give Severa anything for Valentine's Day, Severa hadn't said anything about it even though it hurt, so it couldn't be out of guilt for missing that day. But there was obviously some reason why Lucina had to give Severa these chocolates now, or Lucina wouldn't have taken the risk of carrying them into battle.
"Happy White Day," Lucina said with a smile.
Severa had heard about white day before. In some countries, women gave their boyfriends chocolate on Valentine's Day, and their boyfriends would return the favor one month later. Severa didn't think that fit them, because they were both women, but then Severa remember their disguises.
Severa wore a winged mask and hid behind the name "Caeda", so everyone knew she was a woman. But Lucina disguised herself as a man. To any outsider, Lucina looked to be Severa's boyfriend. Had Lucina intentionally skipped Valentine's day to keep up appearances?
Lucina's embrace was all the answer Severa needed. Keeping up appearances might be hard, but that it was with Lucina made it bearable.
"Marth" knows that she has to save her father from an assassin, and calls on her girlfriend, "Caeda", for help in the endeavour.
"Marth", Severa thought. It was quite a high name to assume, but Lucina certainly lived up to it. Severa wasn't quite sure "Caeda" was appropriate for her, given her lack of riding skill, but was she was Lucina's girlfriend, just as Caeda was Marth's.
However, unlike those two, Lucina and Severa were confined to the shadows. Even if they hadn't been born yet, they still couldn't let their parents see their faces, lest their lineage be discovered. Severa looked through her wing mask to see Lucina, still wearing her butterfly mask even when it was just the two of them. Severa wished she could take Lucina's mask off to see her face again, but they had business to attend to.
Just as had happened last time, Chrom and Robin walked into the courtyard. The two of them began talking, but Severa's attention was elsewhere. She noticed the assassin quietly slip into the courtyard, being careful to stay out of Chrom and Robin's sight. However, he was no match for Severa and her girlfriend. The two of them noticed him getting into position, and when it looked like his next move would be the bush he would attack from, Lucina stepped out into the open.
Severa remain in hiding, keeping a close watch on the assassin. Lucina stalled for time by talking to her father, but Severa wasn't paying attention to what she said. When the assassin moved into the bush, Severa swished her hair. Lucina quietly acknowledged Severa's signal with a slow blink.
"I'm about to save your life," Lucina said, "From him."
Lucina threw Falchion into the air, and brought it down on the assassin as he charged toward Chrom. However, Severa then noticed something else moving quickly. Severa realized that there was a second assassin, who had remained hidden in the past. The second assassin moved into the same bush as the first had emerge from, ready to strike.
"I trust this proof will suffice?" Lucina said, unaware of the danger she was in.
Severa ran out of her hiding place, sword drawn, ready to save her girlfriend. But she was too far away, the second assassin caught Lucina by surprised, and she tripped over the first assassin's sword. Lucina's mask was cut in two, and Severa knew that she would have her revenge upon that man for harming her girlfriend.
But Chrom beat her there, taking down the second assassin as quickly as Lucina had dealt with the first. Severa threw her mask aside, knowing she would need to see clearly to tend to her girlfriend's injuries.
"Are you okay?" Severa said, scrambling to Lucina's side.
Severa looked down at Lucina. While the two halves of the butterfly mask lie on the ground, there was not a drop of blood upon Lucina's face. Severa pulled Lucina into a tight hug, which Lucina immediately returned.
Their embrace was short lived, and broken when an explosion erupted from the castle. Severa and Lucina both grabbed their swords and rushed to the castle with Chrom and Robin. They could celebrate after Emmeryn was saved.
Elise has finally convinced Camilla to let her come with her to Hoshido. While Camilla will be busy with boring things, Elise will be catching up with a friend she hasn't seen in a very long time.
It’s basically just super adorable fluff between two adorable princesses
Elise was quite glad she'd followed her big sister to Hoshido this time. She hadn't seen Sakura in over a year, and was really starting to miss her. Even if they hadn't been able to be as good of friends as they wanted, Elise still missed Sakura. Elise managed to convince those mean soldiers to let her play with Sakura, and she did so every time she could. They talked about how different their countries were, but also how similar they were. Even if Sakura was always so shy, they both cared deeply about all of their siblings, wished more than anything that all of this fighting could just stop.
Elise was jolted out of her memories by a painful, burning feeling on her leg. She'd gotten careless with her parasol, and the sun was now on her skin. Elise quickly shifted her parasol to cover herself, and hoped she wouldn't be burned. She couldn't see Sakura with a sunburn! Luckily, Elise and her big sister were close to the castle. Elise wouldn't have to worry about the sun much longer.
When Elise got to the castle, she closed her parasol. She was glad to inside, where it wasn't so horribly bright. Her big sister handed over her axe and gave her wyvern to the stable hand. Elise tried to do the same thing, but the guard only took her tome, and told her to keep her staff. Camilla went upstairs to go talk about important things with Queen Hinoka, so Elise went out to find Sakura. Elise didn't have to do much, because Sakura walked out into the hall not a second after Camilla had left.
Elise ran to Sakura as quickly as she could, and noticed that Sakura was just as excited to see Elise, even if she didn't show it. Elise jumped into a hug, sending both girls to the floor. Elise noticed that Sakura was blushing, and that all of the castle guard were staring at them. Elise got off the floor, and helped Sakura up to her feet. Elise wanted to go someplace where the guards wouldn't be staring at them, and she could tell Sakura wanted to too.
"Can we go to your room?" Elise said, trying not look at the guards.
"S-Sure," Sakura said, hesitating less than she usually did.
Elise grabbed Sakura's hand and ran off in the direction of Sakura's room. Elise already knew where it was, and was eager to catch up with her friend. When they got there, Elise opened the door and dragged Sakura inside. Sakura's room was very nice, and the floor was almost impossibly soft, but Elise didn't see any chairs, or even a bed!
Sakura sat down on a cushion next to a very low table, and Elise noticed that Sakura was still blushing. Elise sat down across the table from Sakura, and there was a very short silence.
"Where's your bed?" Asked Elise, who was still looking around the room in disbelief that this could really be a princess's bedroom.
"I-It's outside right now," Sakura said. Elise was confused. Why would you move a bed outside?
"I-it's different that the beds you have in Nohr," Sakura added. "It's flat, and it doesn't have legs. You need to hang it outside every day to keep the m-mites out."
Elise smiled. She'd learned another thing about Hoshido! Elise smiled, and her smile spread to Sakura quite quickly.
"You have to come to Nohr next time, so I can show you my room!" Elise yelled. "My bed has curtains on every side, and is super soft! I also have chairs with pink cushions on them! And my table is -"
Elise's excitement was cut short by a cry of pain. The setting sun was shining through Sakura's window, right onto Elise. Sakura stood up, and looked at Elise with worry plain on her face. Elise scrambled out of the sun, and noticed how badly burned her legs were.
"F-follow me," Sakura said. "I-I-I think I can help," she hastily added.
Elise followed Sakura out of the room, and through the halls into a room full of herbs. "W-wait here," Sakura said. Sakura then grabbed herbs from a few pots, put them all in a bowl. Sakura then poured a bit of water into the bowl, and crushed all the herbs into a fine paste.
"T-this might hurt a little, but it should help," Sakura said. Elise wasn't sure what was happening, but she saw Sakura take some of the paste from the bowl and put it on her legs. It hurt a bit when Sakura put the paste on, but then the burns stopped hurting.
"Thanks!" Elise said, trying to be cheerful, but she couldn't really be happy. After all, Sakura had seen her with a sunburn!
"Elise," Sakura began, "I-is something wrong?"
"You saw me with a sunburn! A princess shouldn't have a sunburn!" Elise replied. "I looked super uncool!"
"I-I thought it was cute," Sakura replied, blushing.
Something about the word cute made Elise blush for a change. Elise wasn't sure why, but she wanted Sakura to call her cute again. Whenever one of her siblings called her cute, she hated it. So why did she want Sakura to call her that?
"I-it should be dark soon," Sakura said. "W-we could go outside, i-if you w-want."
Elise remembered that there was a pond with fish in it outside. She hadn't been able to properly view it last time, but this would be the perfect opportunity!
"Why we go look at the fish in the pond outside?" Elise said.
"The koi pond would nice in moonlight!" Sakura said, seeming to have caught Elise's excitement.
Elise once again grabbed Sakura's hand, but this time it felt it was something more than just to keep the two of them together. Elise didn't want to run as fast as normally did. When Elise and Sakura arrived, it was dark, and they were the only ones here. Elise felt glad that it was just her and Sakura, though she had no idea why.
Elise and Sakura walked over a wooden bridge and to an island in the middle of the pond. They both sat down at the water's edge, just in time to see the full moon rise over the castle walls.
"C-can I rest my head on shoulder?" Sakura asked, her face redder than her hair.
"Sure thing!" Elise replied.
Sakura leaned onto Elise, and Elise leaned back. The reflection of the moon in the pond was beautiful, and Elise saw that the fish were swimming peacefully, in mesmerizing patterns.
But what really drew her eyes was Sakura. Elise didn't know what she was feeling, but she knew that it was something to do with Sakura. The way that Sakura looked out at the pond, the way that she blushed whenever their eyes met, Elise knew she wanted to see more of that.
"I really hope our countries get along better," Sakura said. "I want to be able to spend more time like this with y-you." Sakura paused. "Did that sound selfish?"
"No it didn't," Elise replied. "I'd like that more than anything in the world!"
Other things of note: This has two characters in a romantic relationship sharing a bed, but does not contain anything more than hugging and kissing
Summary: Lucina has travelled quite far with the Shepards after hearing rumors that one of her fellow time travellers was attacking a desert fortress. When she got there, it turned out to the one she wanted to see the most - and expected to see the least.
Lucina stood outside Chrom's tent. Her parents had asked for her help with a new Shepard, who had joined after a pitched battle in a desert fortress. When Lucina walked through the tent, she was surprised, not to see Chrom and Robin sitting at a familiar table, but to see Severa sitting across from them.
Severa was every bit as surprised as Lucina to see her lover again. Lucina sprinted the short distance from the entrance to where Severa had just stood up and immediately pulled the mercenary into a tight embrace.
After a long while, Lucina finally pulled away, and noticed her parents sitting patiently, waiting for what was presumably an important meeting to start. Lucina and Severa hurriedly took their seats on the opposite side of the table.
"Mother, Father, I'm sorry," Lucina said. "I know this is important, but, when I saw Severa, I-," Lucina trailed off at the end, unable to find the words to describe how she felt.
"It's alright," Robin replied. Lucina and Severa both felt relieved. While neither Chrom nor Robin could understand exactly what Lucina and Severa were going through, they had a general idea.
"The reason we asked you to come is a matter of logistics," Chrom said. "We don't have any spare tents, so Severa is going to need to share one for a while. You know Severa better than anyone else in camp." Which was true, even if Chrom hadn't known exactly how close Lucina and Severa were.
Lucina immediately knew her answer. "She can share my tent," Lucina responded. Severa's perpetual scowl turned into a half smile, and she obviously had no objections to that arrangement.
Robin was rather surprised by how quickly Lucina responded, and how quickly Severa had agreed. Robin turned to Chrom, and noticed he seemed to be thinking the exact same thing.
"Lucina's an adult," Chrom thought, "But still, it was just a few months ago that I remember her being given a wet nurse." Robin was having the exact same conflict. But the fact remained that Severa still needed a place to sleep, and her girlfriend's tent was certainly far from the worst option.
Robin silently assented to the decision, after having to come it herself. Robin turned to the two young ladies, and paused ever so slightly. "Severa will share your tent," Robin said, much to the relief of both Lucina and Severa, even if Severa didn't show it.
It was starting to get dark, so the two girls proceeded directly to Lucina's tent. Severa was quite surprised to see a collapsible bed, even if Lucina was a Princess. However, Severa also noticed that the tent was entirely empty except for Lucina's bed, not even having a place to store equipment.
Lucina sat down on the bed, and Severa joined her. There was a long pause as the two girls simply looked into each others eyes. Eventually, Severa broke the silence. "Lucina," Severa began, averting her gaze. "I-I didn't think I'd every see you again. When we went back through time, we got seperated. You were surrounded by Risen, and-" Severa found herself unable to finish her sentence.
Lucina placed her hand just below her lover's chin, and lifted Severa's head, leaving the mercenary no choice to look at her princess. "Severa," Lucina said, "I had thought the same thing about you. But what matters now is that you're here, and we're together again. And," Lucina paused, her eyes becoming moist, "I don't want to lose you again," she said, in a much softer voice than usual.
Severa couldn't hold back any longer. She grabbed her Lucina and held on tight, never wanting to let go. Lucina responded in kind, fearing that the two of them would be seperated again if she so much as loosened her embrace.
For a very long time, the two of them simply held their embrace in silence. Then, hugging Lucina even tigher, Severa broke that silence. "Lucina, I-" she began, "I-I," She continued, struggling to find the words to say what was so clear in her heart.
