indulged myself and bought a stock saddle off facebook for $250 - seems to fit him quite well and we had two excellent trail rides in it before I noticed that the girth ($5, also from facebook) had broken (doesn't look that bad but once I tightened the girth and it was under tension that gap in the metal opened up quite a bit) so that put a halt to using that saddle until I could get to the tack store and buy a new single buckle girth BUT the new girth has been acquired and I'm looking forward to a couple of good rides this weekend.
