I’ve kind of just been thinking he didn’t have friends because there was no way he could be anything close to vulnerable because he has to be the best or else he’s a failure and friends don’t make him the best. But now I’m thinking about like,, what that reaction would be. You have a friend, and you’re really not all that close, but you talk and you’ll sit next to each other in class because at least it’s someone you don’t hate, and then he just,, disappears one summer. Drops off the face of the earth.

And then you go to a concert, maybe your family is less strict than some of your peers, or maybe you snuck out, and on the stage, rocking out with wild hair and clothes, a manic grin on his face, is the stuck up kid who always wore an impeccable suit. Gone is the slicked back hair, the carefully calm, if a bit haughty, expression. This kid has the same face as Sebastian, but wearing an expression you never saw on your classmate. And maybe now you realize that your kind of friend was never naturally reserved. You had just never seen him happy.

That got a little bit away from me but. Yeah.
