It’s a big win for animal rights activists. The FBI has added animal cruelty to its list of felonies, alongside homicide and arson.

There are four categories for animal cruelty cases — neglect; intentional abuse and torture; organized abuse, such as cock and dog fighting; and sexual abuse of animals — and the agency is now monitoring them as it does other serious crimes.

A dog, named Chase, that was shot by a former police chief Police Chief Andrew Spencer resigned this week after it was revealed that he shot and killed an innocent dog that was in a cage and meant no one any harm.

To make matters even worse, he took the puppy to a firing range and killed it there because he did not want to deal with finding its home.
