I recently went on a “spiritual journey”, if you want to call it that. Basically I sat and meditated and introspected for the first time in a long time.
My spirituality before was ripped from text books and other accounts of what I was supposed to believe and feel. I didn’t believe it could come from within me so I looked out to other sources, deities, other workers, anyone. I needed something to believe in that wasn't myself.
I will not lie, I’ve recently begun dabbling in mind altering substances. The few times I’ve used them I never introspected or opened up any connections, I only focused on watching colorful movies and giggling and feeling good. Recently, on my last trip, I went to the park and I sat and watched the sky.
A storm was rolling in, the clouds were swirling beautifully. I could feel a connection to the earth below me, the person next me, everyone. It was a beautiful Oneness. I could see the connections between everyone, strong and weak firing off into the world. I came to the realize that everyone is everyone. I think we are all one collective consciousness that is only trying to understand itself and the world around it. I felt the warmth of this consciousness like It acknowledged me and my understanding, it was a very reassuring feeling. Like being held by a caring mother.
I try now to be more understanding of others. We are all confused, we are all children. We are all just trying to understand ourselves and each other, because we’re all One. We just don’t all know it.
I feel that overall this consciousness is young, it has childlike wonder. Humans are meant to be curious and fascinated, we should just enjoy each other and the world and take time to be amazed by the beauty of this amazing life we’ve found ourselves in. I know it’s always easy, in fact it’s very hard, but you exist only for yourself so why not make the best of it. If you’re kind to others, be kind to yourself as well. Treat everyone like they’re deserving of warmth because they are, even the most wicked person is part of this collective conscious, they were unfortunate enough to be swallowed by the dark parts that exist in everyone. And, no, maybe they can’t all be saved. But they can all be forgiven. It’s not easy, I have people in my life who have done things to me that I thought I could never forgive, but if not for them you must do it for yourself.
The peacefulness that you can achieve though, the contentedness of this acceptance and understanding, it’s something I think everyone deserves.
