some definitely canon multiple characters i can think of:

drusera/the entity from wildstar literally every reyvateil from the ar tonelico series. like. literally every single one. being a reyvateil means being multiple.

i've never been able to figure out xava's exact methods but xava is very brute force. it kills those it decides arent helpful. and continues to kill them if they try to reform (we have a very persistent fictive of silva from hxh who has been trying for months now). it’s told me before it just straight up murderizes them, sometimes it throws them off the tower that makes up our headspace (front is at the top) where galatea eats them.

it also engineered sleep pods. new members are forced to stay in the sleep pods while xava observes them. 

i’ve heard of systems with literal gates, though. big blast doors with actual gatekeepers who stay at the door and observe. xava’s not actually a gatekeeper, just a protector, so having to dedicate its time to something like that wouldn’t work out. 

tl;dr-- lots of killing i guess.

nah, i doubt it. i think fictives are particularly common because a lot of our lives have been heavily immersed in media and stuff, but i dont think fictives are, by any means, required.

infel: please don’t fight infel. ae fights every day, give aer a break.

ayatane: he looks gentle but is extremely dangerous. he wont want to fight you. you’ll lose by guilt because he’s just too kind.

mars: you’ll just make mars cry and then who’s the winner? nobody. nobody wins when you make mars cry.

epsilon: please fight epsilon, ae deserves an asskicking.

citizen: you can fight citizen, but citizen has been looking for an excuse to fight back.

aura: she’s an incorporeal being. nobody wins. but she’ll hum you to sleep afterward.

chrollo: under no circumstances should you engage chrollo for combat. 

xava: only if you want to die painfully.

galatea: there is no fighting galatea. she’s huge. you can punch her scales for a while but will probably lose when she rolls on top of you by accident.

alex: fighting and alex is like fighting a blizzard with no clothes on. you’ll freeze to death before the end of it.

zehn: don’t fight zehn. you monster.

nidhogg: nidhogg will gladly tear you to shreds. you didn’t even need to ask.

katze: way too excited at the concept of getting to fight someone. dont do it. katze literally runs a gore blog.
