You're It! || Kim & Kat

"That works for me, although I didn’t bring any specific burn ointment. So don’t get burned, I’d hate for us to get stuck here or have to cal for a ride." It was all Kat could do to stop herself from echoing the awed sentiment. Growing up it was hard to avoid hearing about dragons, but nothing compared to the reality. It was the exact mix of beautiful and dangerous that she could appreciate. No wonder muggles had started equating dragons and feminists in social media. "They’re incredible." With difficulty she pulled her focus back. Licking her lips, she pulled out a coin. "So, heads or tails?"

"Hmmm, I'm a tails person if you know what I mean" Kim laughed, implying that she liked the look of people's rear ends. "They are really beautiful, but once we get out there, they're going to get all riled up and start chasing us too. It's going to be so much fun, I'm actually shaking with excitement!" She held her hand out and showed it to Kat. It was shaking faintly, though Kim might have been encouraging it a little bit. "Hurry up, flip the coin, I'm going to die of impatience!"

"Coolest place? Hmm… That’s a very tough one honestly. Perhaps Italy or California? But while I may not consider it the coolest France will always be number one in my heart."

"I'm from America. I've only ever been there and then here, I don't get to travel too much-- well actually, I've apparated to Russia and Romania, so I guess I have more of a chance to travel now than I used to. I haven't been to France yet, though I've heard their food is amazing."

You're It! || Kim & Kat

Kat closed her eyes a moment before she felt the jerk of movement. But aside from her stomach churning dangerously, she felt fine so she forced her eyes back open to smile reassuringly at Kim. “No injuries here, so there’s no need to die just yet. Then I’d win before we’d gotten started which wouldn’t be any fun at all. Speaking of which, any rules to this game? Or are we making them up as we go?” As she spoke, she started to walk towards the hill Kim had pointed out. “The real question is, how do I win?” Kat winked so the other girl would know she was mostly joking.

Kim smirked and climbed the hill, grateful for all the exercise she'd been getting lately. Nothing beat the feel of your beating heart or a faint sheen of sweat over your body. "I dunno, just thought we'd wing it? Coin toss to see who's 'it' first, and just go until we're too tired or burn from the dragons." They finally reached the top of the hill, and Kim's eyes lit up with delight as she gazed down to the scene below. Everything was lush and green, and there were dragons as far as the eyes could see just sitting there and minding their own business. They were simply beautiful, and Kim couldn't wait to get among them. "Wow..." she whispered her mouth hanging open slightly.

"Well, it’s actually Esmeralda; but people just always

call me that for short.” She chuckled and shook her head. “Oh no, I just moved back actually. I was traveling for a little while; but I attended Hogwarts. Was a Ravenclaw actually.”

"Well I'll just call you Ez for short too. My full name is Kimberly, but I don't let anyone call me that unless they want a karate chop to the throat." She said this in a joking manner, although in her mind she was sure she might just do it. "Oh cool! I'm a Gryffindor, shocker I know." She said with a hint of sarcasm. "What's the coolest place you've traveled to?"

You're It! || Kim & Kat

"Perfect. Things worked out for the best then." She smiled ruefully. Her parents never apparated if they could help it, so she had only used this sort of transportation if one of the women she was working with wanted to take her somewhere. "Not really. I don’t turn 17 until February so I haven’t ever apparated on my own. But I trust you’ll get us there just fine." All right, Kat had to admit that it made her a bit nervous that she were apparating all the way to Croatia with a near novice as this was the sort of thing that created disasters. But she didn’t let any of that show on her face, instead smiling and radiating confidence to bolster the other girl. Confidence was enough to see people through most impossible tasks, and if Kat acted like she believed it, Kim would be more likely to believe it too.

Kat looked at the map as it was held out, committing it and the information Kim revealed to her memory. “Good to know. If anyone is going to cheat its supposed to be me. I’m ready when you are.” Kat laced her fingers with Kim’s, nodding at her slightly and bracing herself for the move.

"Ugh gross. I really really really didn't want to have to apparate, but hey, if anything is worth the risk, then it's worth doing!" She smiled brightly and squeezed Kim's hand as it found hers. "Okay, just close your eyes, and if something goes wrong please don't hate me forever." Kim took a deep breath and steeled her nerves. With a grit of her teeth, she turned in place and they apparated. When they landed, she opened one eye and then the other, before looking at Kat. "Please tell me you're okay, I'll just die of I hurt you."

After assessing that everything was okay, Kim pointed toward a hill. "We're really close, so all we have to do is walk over that small hill and we will be at the reserves. Are you ready to get your run on?"

“I wouldn’t go so far as to say that, but I definitely get the adrenaline kick. I’ve never been immune to how addictive it can be. Name’s Ez by the way. Nice to meet you, Kim.”

"Nice to meet you too Ez! I have to admit I have a certain like for short names, so that's great. I haven't seen you around before, did you just move here?"

You're It! || Kim & Kat

Kat took a deep breath as she secured her hair back out of her face. She’d gotten another letter yesterday, and as much as she tried to pretend it didn’t bother her, it did. Still, she couldn’t give her it the power to control everything. She needed a distraction, and today she had the perfect one planned. After meeting Kim the other day, she had felt an instant connection that she couldn’t wait to explore, and playing a dangerous game sounded like the best way to get close to a new friend. Kat wasn’t known for doing things just for the danger, but if there was a good enough reason to do it, she’d try almost anything.

Soon she was walking towards the front of the castle, grinning to herself in anticipation. “Hey Kim! Sorry, I hope you weren’t waiting for me for too long. There were a few first years that saw the badge and decided to ask me for directions, never mind that they’ve been in school for months. But I’m completely ready now.”

"Kat!" Kim exclaimed, her face brightening considerably as the other girl came into view. "No no, I was barely waiting at all, I tend to run a little late myself so I was sort of glad you weren't here yet so I wouldn't feel so guilty about it." She looked up at the sky and sighed "perfect day for this, if I do say so myself. It's the perfect mix of overcast and almost rain. That makes it so much more fun of the grounds are muddy." She turned toward Kat and put her hands in her pockets. "Okay, are you ready? I only just passed my apparation test, it still makes me super nervous. Are you more comfortable with it? Here's where we are going." She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a map of the country.

Near Croatia was a big X marked in red pen. "I've been there before, but they change the layout all the time so that the dragons don't get complacent, so don't worry, I won't have a tactical advantage or anything." She folded the map up and put it back into her pocket. "Okay, are you ready to go?"

”Sounds like someone got into Honeydukes this trip. You have a thing for adrenaline rushes or something, danger girl?”

"Oh absolutely. Nothings greater than not knowing if you're going to die or not! My friends say I'm an adrenaline junkie, and I don't disagree."

Esmeralda looked over at the girl, slightly surprised

that anyone had heard her. Still she cast a warm smile in her direction and gave her a nod.

“I take it you’re one of the students from the castle?”

"Uh huh! Names Kim. Kim Possible. Danger girl extraordinaire, perusing the streets of Hogsmeade for tall things to jump off of, or crazy animals to prod!"

Esmeralda’s eyes scanned the buildings of Hogsmeade as she stepped out of her flat, a soft sigh falling from between her lips. Crisp air inhaled sharply as it entered her lungs, and a smile pulled at her lips with the knowledge that snow was imminent. It was the weekend, so the streets were still brimming with students; filling the young woman with a sense of nostalgia. Everything would be alright, she assured herself; because for even someone who refused to put down roots she knew this was where everything always came back together.

”No place like home,” she murmured loud enough that a passerby might hear it.

Kim stopped short when the woman spoke, and nodded her head vigorously. "If I lived here, I'd be home already!"

"Alright then I’ll make sure I never give you heels.”

"Not unless you want to subject me to a torture most vile!"

"Boots are cool too. I could definitely see you looking awesome in boots."

"Oh I do look awesome in some boots. Give me a pair of boots for 8 hours I'm fine, a pair of heels on the other hand, I don't think I can last 5 minutes!"

You're It! || Kim & Kat

Kim had been feeling far too restless lately. Even the daily drills with Rattigan were barely making a dent in her usual activity levels. The banning of quidditch didn't really mean anything to her, she didn't play, but she was glad for the added physical activity... even if she had to wake up early in the mornings for it. However, today was going to be different. After she had met Kat during a drunken walk back to her room, Kim had felt like she had made a new friend almost instantly. She did not want the friendship to die before it even had started, so she made sure to make plans with the girl as soon as she was sober enough.

That's how she ended up waiting outside the castle for Kat on this frigid morning. She was beyond excited for what they were going to do today, Kim was no stranger to dangerous games. In fact, they were here favorite kind of games. She glanced at her watch, a decidedly muggle timepiece that she had a special attachment too, and tapped her foot as she waited.
