Hey, saw on the news today that Avi Yemini has officially registered a pro-Israel political party under the name Free Palestine. Thought I'd share it here so that more people could be aware.

The TL;DR of it is that far-right YouTuber/self confessed domestic abuser Avi Yemini registered a party called "Free Palestine" in Victoria with the expressed aim of misleading voters and tricking those who want Israel to stop committing genocide against the Palestinian people into casting a vote for a far-right party. (Yemini is Israeli btw and deliberately spreads anti-Palestinian misinformation and propaganda to deny the genocide is even happening.)

He registered this to exploit group voting tickets, which is when someone votes above the line and their preferences are then chosen by that party. He's not expecting the Free Palestine candidate to get elected - it's a fake party to funnel votes directly to One Nation.

BUT! The good news is Victoria JUST abolished group voting tickets! (it's the last place in Australia to do that). So his exploit isn't going to work and he's already paid money to register it. BUT there's still a problem: if it gets more than 4% of the first preferences then the party will be paid based on how many votes it got. It's a way to reimburse parties for their expenditure and make elections more competitive but in this case while it's not a way to sneakily siphon votes to One Nation it's still now a way that Yemini can make money.

DON'T vote for the Free Palestine party in the Victorian state election. It's not pro-Palestine. It's pro-Israeli genocide and exists to trick people who don't do background research into candidates. All it'll do is take votes away from parties that actually are pro-Palestine (like the Greens) and give money to literal domestic abusers (Yemini).
