I need to give love to all the Owsla rabbits that aren't Bigwig because ahh.
Buckthorn is terribly overlooked and underrated in everything he appears in, Silver...too.
My veteran, my man, my thing, ahhh Holly. I don't know if it's worse to be ignored or to not be used at all.
Holly saw all the horrors with his own eyes, saw the ghosts of his loved ones during their last breaths. And yet he was still there, living, he got through it. And he's a strong, smart, sensible rabbit, not at all unfriendly.
And I really like that about him, he's not just a generic cruel and obedient captain for the sake of it. He's genuinely skilled and yet considerate, but loyal.
I like how Holly's humility and understanding are emphasized. Even while he and Hazel were talking (in a very questionable way) about the females on the farm, he still mentioned how Clover was striving to improve in a positive way. He recognizes that Bluebell kept him alive with his jokes. He doesn't question Hazel and, in his case, tries to reason with his logically if he notices that something might not be right, and if it turns out to be so, he accepts it sincerely.
And his friendship with Blackavar? They were both screwed, so they started hanging out together, patrolling, listening to each other's opinions. It's even Holly who recognizes Blackavar's abilities, even in his deaf state.
He's the first to suggest covering the holes when he sees the Efrafans coming.
He also comforts Pipkin when he wants to keep close to Fiver when he got unconscious, telling him that it's so important for him to live because everyone is equally valuable 💔.
I hate how Holly is almost always used as a vehicle for exposition and nothing else in adaptations.
In a way, I like his parallelism with Campion in the miniseries, but unfortunately, there isn't enough time to develop that concept further.
Otherwise, he isn't a particularly remarkable character in his own right.
