Imagine a Hail Mary/The Old Guard crossover where Grace actually died in his coma, just like the others of the crew, only he became immortal there. And for years while he was still in his sleep, he has dreams of the others. And the others dream his dream with him.
And then when he finally wakes up, they see him on the ship in their dreams, realizing what must have happened. They see flashes of his encounter with Rocky, what happened on Adrian, of Rocky giving him a chance to come back home, and of him willingly choosing to give up that chance and possibly dying to go save Rocky.
And then they dream of Eridani...
And them wondering if they should find a way to go to him, so he won't be alone, but also feeling that love and friendship with Rocky, and not wanting to separate the two...
Thinking of how Andy would go confront Stratt for what she did to Grace, forcing him on the mission against his will.
How Andy would love Grace's attitude so much, and see so much hope in him and the chance of meeting this new to her species.
Of beings who are mortal but can live hundreds of years. Though even their oldest are still like children to her.
How Nicky and Joe would adore the love between Grace and Rocky, even if it's not romantic, they'd still grasp the meaning of it.
And Nile, possible with Booker's help, trying to get some way to go get to Grace, even just so he'd know he isn't alone. Esp. once he realizes he's not aging.
Or Quynh seeing her own horror in what Grace almost went through, almost condemned himself to, stuck in an eternity of never quite dying, but not living either... And shocked he could bring himself to do that for Rocky, not abandoning Rocky like she felt Andy did to her...
